Sup everyone, i’m havin real problems against ryu/ken aerial Hurricane Kick, is ther a way to beat that move on air!? if not how u guys deal with it!?

Early u+hp or jumpback hp.

You can also air-throw it if I recall correctly.

Right I searched and can’t find it and I know its been asked like a hundred times and so must of been answered but what is a reliable AA against Sagats jumping elbow?

I mean one that actually works and doesn’t use meter, I thought it was cr.strong or forward but they really haven’t helped much… The Sagat I played tonight destroyed me 8-3 and did it with abuse of the elbow…

In all honesty I was making him whiff his tiger knee and then he was also beating me to anything off it with cr.jab (couldn’t get a throw in), I tried focus on the elbow and that just led to tiger knees/uppercuts…

Really is there anything that works cos it just allows sagat to take the game to chun and that’s meant to be what chun does to sagat (get in close I mean), thing is he was all over me then just kept pressuring, one mistake a third of my health gone, me knocked over him jumping in with the elbow, repeat… Only time I did ok was getting him off me with EXSBK to give me a chance… Does early neutral jump RH beat it (on the way up?) although he can probably just rape you on your way down…

Sorry for the rant and I expect some funny or not very helpful comments/suggestions (ooooohhh can you tell I am mad) that are all theory or “you could try”, what I want is to know what actually beats it and from what ranges…

Sorry I’m not happy with tonights games in general, I lost a lot and I might not be the best Chun on the forum but I ain’t the worst…

Sweep beats every jumpin on the Sagats that I’ve played offline. Don’t quote me on it though, but it’s pretty damn good vs. Sagat.

Don’t use far.mk, cr.mk or cr.mp on Sagat’s elbow. You want far.hp or sweep. I haven’t had much luck with them against Sagat’s other jumpins (mk & lk are the other ones I see used) they seem to need far.mk.

This is personal experiance hower, as usual, going into training or casuals and getting a feel for the timing and spacing yourself is important.

c.mp is all I use against Sagat’s who jump in with elbow.

? I’ve never had a problem using cr.MP against The People’s Elbow.

St Fp, Cr. Hk, and EX SBK all beat his stupid ass elbow

not to mention cl.hk and c.hp.

btw forward throw -> dash -> j.fp j.fp+c.hk safe jump works against rufus too right?
who else (other than sagat) this setup works against?

I haven’t seen any info posted on playing around with chun’s close MK. I’ve had some good results throwing it out offline after a jumpin as an overhead. Also playing around in training mode, I found it links off of crouch LP, which seems like it’d be a pretty goodmixup.
Does anyone use cl.MK effectively on a regular basis?

Holy shit, it DOES link.

I know that Wakasashe does this a lot on wakeup but I haven’t seen a lot of people do it. It seems too high-risk low-reward for me. BUT if it links off jab, why the hell not?

lol that was my reaction, I’m like… why the hell hasn’t anyone talked about this?! It’s a directly comboed overhead!

^ You can also cancel cl mk into ex sbk with the same timing as the cl hk or cl fp cancel, though why I mentioned that, I am not sure…

-lose back charge
-lose down charge
-first hit whiffes against crouched. could be countered
-minus 4 on block !
-minus 1 on hit :frowning:

  • 40 damage if they don’t block the overhead part

Seems I got a little too excited here. This doesn’t form a true block string if the opponent is blocking, which is the only time the overhead is actually helpful. If it links, all the hits are going to combo anyway.

And if you misjudge the spacing, you’ll get far MK, which is not generally used in Chun’s up close ground game and has much longer startup than close MK.

Just re-tested on ryu in training mode, the first hit doesn’t whiff on him crouching or blocked.
edit: yeah, nevermind the first hit does whiff on a crouching ryu after the initial jab.

lets hope it was included in her normals buffs in ssf4

Cheers for the feedback guys… I was really pretty mad last night, I thought cr.strong worked but I must have been timing it wrong, I know cr.fierce beat all his other jump ins…

Sorry for the primitive hassle, I am in a better place now lol… Right I guess its back to the training mode to get the timing down, god damn Sagat player sent me a MSG saying my Chun was good…pfft 8-3 good still I guess I can always MSG him back for some training I am pretty sure he won’t mind given he destroyed me…

See this is why the Chun thread is the best character thread here, people just offered advice even though I was being a whining sod (english saying if you don’t know it). At least I know my theory is right guess it’s just my execution that let me down last night! Right Sagat I got a bone to pick with you…
