For real though, part of this all might be to do with the fact that if you ‘artificially’ accelerate the level of your play with too much many match up specific tips and tricks, you might hinder your progress at really knowing how to play the game, and being able to push onto the higher level/adapt when the matchup isn’t played according to plan.

tl:dr - Get tips. Play loads. Get smart. Acquire bitches.

And currency

What did we just say about spoon feeding people, skatan?

Ok thank you for the tips, I wasn’t really aware that her AA’s are quite situational. I guess this is where I have to experiment and find out for myself.

Read my AA post further up the page.

I saw it, and it’s exactly what I need to know. Thanks!

Sorry if it’s already been asked, but does anyone have the exact changes made to the d/f lk anti air in arcade edition? A breakdown of when not to use it now? I used to use it alot in super and only recently found out it got nerfed. Thanks.

do not use it end of history

To elaborate on what Malva said…

It still works, sometimes, as an anti-air. But, because the risk/reward is now no longer worth it, it no longer makes sense to use it.

I still use it in corner FA crumple combos for flashiness (using it late after a crumple will launch them). That’s about the only thing I still do with it.

I have been trying to figure out a way to incorporate it into block strings as a frame trap to try and punish someone for pressing buttons to fish for a counter-hit (which will also launch them), and then combo into EX Legs or U2, but so far I haven’t come up with anything too reliable.

too damn slow for a frame trap set up ;_;

I feel like it might still have uses versus Bison, maaybe gief and in the mirror match, situations where your going up against slow jumps and high priority jumpins against which either far mk doesn’t work, or you have to do it so super early, that you might as well press df.lk one frame earlier and get twice the damage, but I don’t personally do this, and in general, yeah, don’t use it.

As for the specific changes, it’s 2 frames slower, and you can no longer follow up after an anti-air trade, as you get an air reset. I believe the hurtbox is also slightly larger.

Because it’s slower, has a worse hitbox that trades more often, and the trade doesn’t lead to anything, it’s not used anymore. It’s better to rely on st.mk, st.hp, c.hp, c.mp, c.mk, u+hk, u+hp, j.hp and jumpback hk in the correct situtations. Yes, it’s much more difficult having to use that many anti airs but that’s how it is right now.

Close blockstring into Kikoken > df+LK?

Far blockstring into Kikoken FADC df+LK?

I dunno. There has to be something.

The key is to set up a situation where you have a lot of frame advantage, just enough for someone to press a button to set up a counter-hit. I have done it on accident before so I know it can be done, even if it’s not reliable. I just think it’s a cool parlor trick.

Does anyone know if df+LK can be thrown on startup?

I thought cr. Fierce was the swedish firecracker? I guess it can be named something else then, like the party popper, lol. If only you could combo firecrackers into poppers, that would be sweet.

That’s what I though at first too. c. hp is simply the c. hp legs loop (or desk loop if you want to be fancy about it I guess).

I believe Swedish firecracker is so named because (aside from its pioneer of course) it often blows up focus attempts and armored moves.

It’s called the swedish firecracker because of the sound it made when I buffered it

Your avatar makes all your posts even better.

Thank you, that was my intention when I choose this as my avatar, it adds such a nice tone of class no matter what my posts are about.

Right, I’m determined to level up, right now I’m hovering just below the 1000pp, thought I would just improve the more I played online. However I recently got battered by a 1300pp Ibuki 10 games in a row and had to give up.

It made me realise just how poor I am right now, I need to put in more work and less time just playing ranked and endless for fun (which i thought would help me improve naturally, but its not looking like it). I want to get better and compete in local tourneys in London every week or two if I can, (about 1 hour away on the train, but it’s not that expensive.)

Here’s my action plan, can you please tell me if you have any advice or opinion on this?

**1) Watch Videos of every good Chun you can possibly see:
[
]a) Study how they start rounds, stay patient, control space, set up attacks, poke.

[
]b) Study what combos and attack strings they use.

c) How they defend air attacks, and generally deal with pressure.
**2) Train the combos, defence, and attack strings you have observed.
[
]a) Every day, in training mode until they are natural. Be able to dot hem under pressure online or against AI.

[
]b) Focus on one facet that needs improving in endless mode (air defense, poking, attack strings etc. forcing myself to work it naturally into my game over time.
**3) Study matchup details and videos
[
]a) Take notes of each matchup, and practice it against the AI, focusing on my trouble characters (sim, blanka, ibuki, el fuerte)

[
]b) Then take this online and test.
**4) *Keep Practicing in training and online
[
]a) Always make sure to practice combos and attacks. Maybe think up new frame traps and strings.

[]b) Always go back to endless if my offense is missing key elements. (Again force missing elements if my offense isn’t using every weapon Chun has.)

[
]c) Continue to look at videos online, to check on any new tactics of old moves I might have missed and can practice and use myself.
Sorry for such a long post. And I know I’m anal, but I’m not naturally talented at games, in fact this is my first ever fighting game, been playing on and off for about 3 months now.

While I know playing online will eventually get my defence improved, my execution and general plan of attack just isn’t where it could be, and until it is I know I won’t be able to level up.

So yeah, any feedback would be welcome

super quick question, the 9 frame start up buff was really on her ultra 2, NOT fireball as it was a mistranslation or was it fireball? Was confused. Thanks in advance
