Chun-Li Moveset and Attributes

221 dmg 440 stun for c.fp xx rh legs, mk legs, c.rh

247 dmg 508 stun for s.rh xx rh legs, rh legs, c.rh (is this even possible?)

If you use s.rh xx rh legs, mk legs, c.rh it comes out with the same dmg just about 8 or so less stun.

With that said I cannot do the s.rh combo even with turbo on fat characters. The second set of legs only connects on fat characters, so you can only link the sweep on those characters. Also, if you are off by just a tiny bit you will whiff the second set of legs and the sweep.

On the other hand, the c.fp combo is a lot easier to do (IMO), works on all characters, works from further out, only does slightly less damage and stun than the s.rh combo, and if you practice enough, can do more damage and stun than the s.rh combo because it can be looped.

My main punishes are the c.fp combo if I think I’m going to stun them or don’t have meter or charge and want the knockdown, c.fp into mk sbk if I don’t want to burn meter, have charge, and feel like being at neutral frames won’t hurt. I use c.rh xx ex legs if I want to combo into ultra/ex sbk or just need an easy combo and I don’t have charge to finish them off. If they are out of range of all of these 3 options I just sweep.

I was using meaty (well, close enough) cr.mk on the Blanka that always rapes me today and it was working pretty good (I still lost, but I got a couple of rounds and I certainly feel like I made him work much harder for the wins, not that the cr.mk made that much difference but that’s a separate story.), so I when I got home I went into training mode and had a look at what other reversals it can make whiff besides Boxer’s. Here’s some quick preliminary results. -E Note that most of these require you to be at pretty much the max range of cr.mk.

Edit, Did some more testing. reorganised.

Fei -
Flame Kicks (all) whiffed.
Chicken Wing (all) either whiffed or got blocked depending on spacing and timing etc. Be careful, as it will sometimes cross-up.
Super/Ultra Hit Chun.
Everything else loses. Note, Fei’s walking hit box is bullshit. If you hit him with the very tip meaty, he can walk forward to make it whiff.

Blanka -
EX Up Ball whiffed.
Super whiffed.
Ultra hits Chun.
Everything else loses.

Chun - Ex SBK whiffed. Didn’t test anything else, I’m sure you can figure it out.

Gen -
Up Kicks (all tested.) whiffed.
The Punch Super & Ultra hit Chun.

Viper -
Thunder Knuckle (hp) whiffed.
Ex Burning Kick whiffs the first hits, then the actual flame can be blocked. Again, be careful as it sometimes crosses up.
Super/Ultra hit Chun.

Honda - Splash (tested EX & lk) whiffed.
Honda - Headbutt (EX) hit. (not exactly suprising)

Rufus -
I was able to block EX Messiah Kick, which I believe means the first hit whiffed.
Super Whiffs (not that I’ve ever seen a Rufus do a wakeup Super, probably for good reason)
Ultra hits Chun.

Seth - SRK (tested all) I tested these again and all hit Chun. I must of messed up because of Seth getting up slow so I was making the cr.mk whiff early. sorry :[.

Cammy -
Cannon Spike (lk and mk) whiffed.
Cannon Spike (hk and EX) Chun gets hit.
Interesting, but useless. AFAIK good Cammy players use hk Cannon Spike exclusively.

I also did some testing on Balrog. Apparently meaty cr.mk doesn’t make EX headbutt whiff, it’s a late cr.mk that does, because headbutt’s so damn slow.

As for the rest, Flash kick hits Chun, as do all SRKs & Tiger Uppercut.

Fei and Viper are probably the interesting ones.

Yeah, the good people probably already knew this, but I needed to write it down somewhere :).

I don’t know if my last post have been read since it’s on the previous page

Nice info robotic specially versus rufus.

Use cr mk at max range look very useful. I will try

I think about a setup. You start close and you walk back just on his wake up like that you can use a 2 in 1 ( cr mk to kikoken).

If cr mk whiff because of the reversal move, kikoken don’t come. If the opponent block, kikoken come ^^. I don’t know if kikoken is safe on block at this range though

But iwant to add cr mk close work too versus viper, gen

One thing i was wondering.

But on hit it’s +2.
Ken with his ex tatsu +1 on hit look very confident. Of course ken have his dragon.

But +2 for chun li look nice, you can setup some trap, no ?
For example if i just smash lk legs ( 4 frame startup) and my opponent try to throw me. Chun li win.
If he try to jump, chun li win. If he try to jab me (boxer addict ), chun li win too.

Of course she lose versus dragon

Throws tech, and DP always wins when doing any move

Add the fact that Chun has low health and she doesn’t need any more 50/50 guessing games than what the enemies set up

You end up with that being a bigger risk for her than it is for the opponent, even if it leaves her at a little frame advantage

IMO.

Hey, is there a reason that chun’s ex sbk throws the enemy away from the corner when you do it in the corner? I know that ryu’s ex hurricane kick keeps them in the corner, but chun’s will blast them in the opposite direction. Is there a way to prevent this?

If you’re deep in the corner, it will always send them the other direction. If you hit it even just slightly out of the corner they should fly into it.

Can anyone confirm if EX SBK beats a DP after a reset from a medium SBK? I swear it looks like ive been hitting Sagats and Ryus out of their DP’s.

okay then, chuns cr.lpxn >st.fp has some VERY character specific things/wackiness going on… i dont want to go into ALL of the things that are wacky about this, i’ll just list some:

when at neutral in a crouch holding down back the following characters can duck chuns st.fp:

sim
blanka
cammy
chun
viper

now heres where (some) of the weird parts come in:

the following characters can duck chuns st.fp ONLY when they hold down or down forward:

gen
vega
honda
guile

ryu (weird hitbox issues, sometimes it hits ryu sometimes it doesnt… hits more than it misses)
blanka (same exact deal as ryu).

so the safest characters to do cr.lpx3 >st.fp against all day are:

fei
gief
gouken
SETH
SAGAT
rog
abel
fuerte
sakura
rose

so to reiterrate

sim can duck this if he holds d/b… however if he were to hold d/f he would get hit… the entire bnb acts really weird versus sim and some other characters such as some can only duck if chun were to do cr.lpx2 >st.fp but cant duck cr.lpx3>st.fp… and some can only duck when they get hit by the jabs first and some can only duck when they BLOCK the first jabs… so yeah really weird.

i suggest only using this on the list of characters that i said it was safe to use this string on (barring reversals) it can work very well versus othert characters but if a characters isnt on the list then i suggest you have a go in training mode to find out the intricacies so that you know what your doing.

hey i was about to ask the same thing, starts at the same time chun’s ex sbk beats out my hp srk … i tried it 3 times !!! silly me eh

Can’t be sure because its hard to know when who does what and I have tested it (but not a lot), I tried it cos I saw a vid of dae using it after cr.fp >> Med SBK against Combojacks Sagat…

In the vids I’ve seen he uses it twice and beats out Sagats uppercut.

I think pretty much for sure that it does! However not 100 percent and don’t know why it would…

Yes i Confirm Ex SBK beat SRK.

Look some match of Dae, this man abuse Sagat and Ryu with that. Too funny. Poor Shoto.

Tiger uppercut !!! FADC !! => Ex SBK :slight_smile:

And good news Ex Dragon just whiff so you have a free punish ^^

confirmed ex sbk beats all versions of ryus srks after reset except for ex version which c-nul already stated…
however my shitty timing found out that if ryu does a non reversal timed srk it flat out cleans up chuns ex sbk.

also ryu can reversal lp super and it does a funky trade with chuns ex sbk that knocks ryu in the direction that chun gets juggled in… ryu can quick get up and ultra her from anywhere on screen cause she doesnt get juggled in place but actually floats backwards across the screen… lol its funky weird ass shit but is easily re-producable and works everytime.

also if ryu blocks ex sbk he gets a free fierce srk fadc >ultra if hes got the meter… i still dont think i like chuns chances versus him when doing this combo so i’ll save it for when i know it will kill

Hi, just thought I’d post this to warn anyone else.

I was playing against Sakura. If she charges for her huge fireball, it ends up travelling really slow like Dhalsim’s ultra. So anyways, I tried to ultra her. She released her big fireball just before my ultra connected. The ultra got a few hits in and then the invulnerability went away and the slow travelling fireball knocked me out of the ultra.

I don’t know if it was just a fluke with the timing or if Sakura’s large fireball will always protect her against Chun’s ultra.

Hey guys I was jus wondering about somethin…is it a good idea to use chuns b+mk(backwards kick) as a poke? Since if it hits u can easily combo off it(ultra/ex sbk/legs possibility in the corner)and I noticed that it has a tiny bit more range then s.mp…

Only thing I use it for is to counter shoto’s crouching forward.

The hitbox goes over theirs and counter hits.

Learned this indirectly from WhaWhat.

You were probably at full screen distance. Dash ultra would have been safe.

well, thats something im deffinately guna remember though lol.

I think it may have to do with the amount of hitstun the receiving character is in. I noticed that when I use c. Fierce to EX SBK, it sends them out of the corner, but when I use c. Jab to EX SBK, it sends them really high in the same corner allowing for another EX SBK (which I think is a waste of meter). Maybe an EX Legs can follow-up after this state…but I’m doubtful.

why cant i dashultra

god comes out when the hell it feels like it
