I was playing a bit last night against an Oni and landed 2x cr. short - ex legs - Ultra 1 towards the left corner of the screen.
Every hit counted until she started doing the upward spinning bird kick animation. 2-3 hits whiffed but the animation continued and Oni still got hit with the final blow.
Very strange. These drops and whiffs need to be patched ***now ***CAPCOM >:/
Missed a TON of ex SBK’s online last night when I usually land those consistantly at the arcade. Gameplay on PS3 does seem a bit slower.
Yeah, supposedly the PS3 version of Vanilla and Super were arcade perfect, as in the timing was exactly the same (and the X360 version was actually 1 frame faster, if I recall correctly), but I notice a pretty obvious timing delay when playing at home versus playing in the arcade, which is disappointing.
I’m pretty sure EX SBK is different, I just don’t know exactly how – and yeah, the Ultra 1 whiffing problem is pretty well known, but at least at this moment there don’t seem to be any plans to fix it.
The ultra’s gonna whiff a few hits on certain characters regardless. I’ve made my peace with that already since the only character I’d really be afraid to try to juggle it on, is Rose (see my post above). I like that I can now more easily juggle some other characters who couldn’t normally be juggled since I use U1 in 95% of my matchups.
SnakeAes and Lexy, that’s unfortunate to hear the PS3 version might be off on timing. My PS3 is dead, so I won’t be able to test that for myself atm, but I’m playing on 360 for the time being. Have you tried the 360 version anywhere to compare to the Arcade version?
-I’ll be gone for a few days with no internet and working on some setups vs new/buffed characters in training. I hear online is a Yun-fest, but I won’t get to see that yet. The twins are my primary target… then new and improved Dee jay and Makoto… THEN the evil characters. I have a feeling new Guy, Ibuki, and Cammy will get slept on a bit too much during this time between now and Evo and most people will be focusing on the twins, but I have my eye on them as well.
Guy is slightly better but still not a lot to be worried about IMO.
Ibuki got slight nerfs but not enough to make a big difference, she has some easier links now though.
Cammy became a much more complete character in AE. She has better links and has some easy combos off of trades. Her dive kick pressure is not as good but her footsies became much better as a tradeoff.
just played a guy player 3 times who would not block and just keep doing shit. one win and lose with yang and a win with chun. i almost lost the two times though. this game is so stupid. I dont like the fact that Chun-li is considered not worth playing just becuase you cant play on auto pilot unlike the majority of the cast. with other characters play dumb and get an easy win but with my character play smart then lose or almost lose. This is not an AE thing this is a SF4 thing. I can see why many great veteran players like nuki stopped playing this game.
Just wondering… did chun’s target combo (j.hp) get a bigger hitbox or something? if you do a forward throw then dash to j.hp, it would cross up clean… if they’re standing up to counter…
I noticed that as well. I was trying to option select but it ended up crossing up. I don’t know if it actually hits as a crossup or if it has to blocked holding back and then holding the other direction once Chun lands.
I don’t think the whiff is too big of a deal really. Just don’t try and juggle her off a combo.
You still get the full animation if you ultra her soul sparks or when she reflects your kikoukens–did that one last night.
There are somethings though in AE that I found easier to do in Super but I’m pretty sure they didn’t change anything.
for example in Super if I’m waking up and recieving pressure I’d FADC back. in AE, I hit the buttons but it doesn’t do it.
I’ve checked my inputs after fights in replays and sure as shit I’m hitting the buttons. Little things like that I’ve noticed that really confuse me more then anything.
It’s probably already known and been mentioned, but I just had my mind blown when a Gief was able to spd my st.hk’s. Don’t remember that ever happening in super or vanilla.
So I’m pretty sure now that forward dash > j.hp after a forward throw is a safejump against cammy… if i tested it in training mode properly, all her dp reversal will wiff or get stuffed… when she’s crouching, it won’t wiff her but instead, it’ll hit her from behind
it’s also a safejump against yang… if not known already
I kinda kno what u going through Chun has always been pretty solid and in this game just so so, I’ve used her since HF, one thing i hate about capcom is that they change her normals too much back in SF2 they were the same, she got a new one in ST with close roundhouse which kicks upward, SFA she was pretty much ST without a SBK and the overhead senshu/hazanshu was in and he fireball was the same, 3rd Strike and CVS2 different normals cr mp in CVS2 was godlike and her cr fwrd kick which always has been except in SF4 where the animation is similar to her SF2/SFA cr.short kick, she has no range…my point is other characters have had consistent normals ryu always had collarbone and overhead and jump str juggle since ST and its stayed, same with Ken, Cammy and alot other but Chun changed so much during 3rd Strike, but was still good, and why doesnt she have have tensho kyaku (upkicks) as a special move and not part of that useless target combo, her design in this game sucks, only one good wake up option that requires meter which in AE seems to get stuffed alot more…POW right in the cooch…its sad tho coz like he was saying some characters are dumb stupid eassy and can auto pilot but Chun is a work every match…sometimes more than others…maybe her being too good in 3rd Strike is the coz of her being only so so in this game, but that was over time 3s chun wasnt just good out the gate, but still Chun is decent in SSF4 series but not the Strongest Women in the World that she was on ST/SFA/SF3s/CVS2…fuck even marvel she has upkicks and her good cr. frwd kick WTF capcom fix her…make her consistent, Fireball, hasanshu, SBK, upkicks and all her good normals from ST/CVS2 alpha whatever pick a set and lets keep it…is that too much to ask LOL!!! Ok im done ranting.
agreed, i was so used to using it in Super not its ASS…AE is indeed Ass Edition…seems to tailored for the twins…who by the way I have a 85% win rate against…yang is a bit easier FYI on knock down stand close and do a neutral jump spread eagle and his DP move doesnt hit her, dont do it to late but just right near his head…EX version hits tho.
