Actually, there’s a way to make normal kicks come out while walking forward (with super, and having it stored.) For a brief moment you release your toward charge, go to down, press & hold MK, and immediately go back to toward. A low MK will come out and you will still have your super stored. Then when you release MK the super will come out. I’m sure that works with all the other kicks as well.

SweetJV showed that one to Cesar and I when we were in Phoenix.

And ya, in ST Honda could do all these fun tricks. I wish he still had that in Remix.

Sweet Thanks megaman I just tried it out and it works like a charm and looks freaky too since I can walk back, swing a kick or block for like 1 frame then pull if off. More weapons for my arsenal . Now if I can find a practical way to use them in a real match I’ll be all set.

I may be wrong, but I think you can even go back to neutral for a split second and then go forward again.

Hmm makes me wonder if is wasn’t talked about for a reason??? I also wonder why I never see anyone else use it either?

I use it often against other Chuns ive played but against certain chars it isnt too smart to use especially if they can reverse consistently and they become accustomed to it. Its best when used after a blocked fireball to move in safely before your meter is full.

But because of it you can do string pokes and then cancel into super. One i do often is if im in right next to them is st. strong, st. strong, cr. foward ~ Super. This is used when someone is afraid of your pokes from mid - close distance since far st. strong, st. foward and cr. foward have some crazy hitboxes and priority. Her walk speed also helps with this. As long as the last poke is cancelable right when you get bar on hit or block, it will cancel into Super.

I played a Chun player (self-inflicted?) who freaked out when i did that string against her because “it wasnt possible”.

Nice I do that all the time now on pretty much everyone. And since I’ve learned to cancel effectively I’ve been able to do some serious damage.

Alright since we are on the subject the only thing I still cant seem to do is keep the stored super after a throw. I thought it worked similarly to the walking forward kick super (quickly tap back then forward again) while throwing but haven’t been able to keep it stored successfully.

You cannot retain super charge after a throw.

Try jump in whatever, cl.LP, cl.LP, cr.LP XX Super -> Upkicks.

Still does nasty, nasty damage.

Hmm I’ve been doing jump in whatever, s.LP, s.LP, cr.LP XX Super -> Upkicks, s.lp (the elbow) does better damage almost as much as a s.mp. I’ve also been doing jump in whatever s.hp xx Super upkicks for massive damage plus it’s easier to do :wink:

You can retain super change during a throw, but it’s very weird. At the very start of the throw, your opponent is considered behind you. So, what you have to do is:

Store super (be holding towards)
Throw and IMMEDIATELY change direction
As Chun-Li’s opponent is being moved to the front of her, change direction to your forward again.

So, if you are on the 1P side, you hold “right” to store, switch to “left” as the throw starts, and then as the throw begins, you can eyeball when to switch back to “right”.

Here’s a fun one: Try keeping a charge when throwing someone BEHIND you. That’s also possible but very weird to wrap your head around.

Ya, that’s the same thing, the cl prefix is close and implies standing. I’ll try the FP one though, I didn’t know you could super cancel off the FP. Thanks!

Yeah, not only is it hard to pull off, but you usually don’t need your super after you land a throw, so it’s not even that useful if you manage to do it; it’s just really, really badass. :stuck_out_tongue:

So I can do it in training all day long, but haven’t been able to pull it off in a real match :\ I’m sure I got the timing down . Must be the online game has different timing

Anyone ever try to upkick, hear the sound for it, but end up blocking. I hate that shit.

I’m pretty sure glitch is due to close S.Hk, actually.

Just my two cents, I have been playing ST for like a year and a half now and, i really hated VST i really thought it was lacking.

I thing Sirlin did a fine job with HDR with getting out all the stupid things that made the top Character top Character

I would never go as far as saying that about VST. Its still an amazing game.

But yeah, I enjoy HDR more.
