Crackfiend putting people in training mode out here.

I’m not sure if this relatively well known, butI noticed it while fighting a Rashid and also saw it mentioned on the Rashid thread: Chun can escape his V-Trigger when she’s cornered by wall jumping. They may see this coming, so try mixing it up with different strengths of air legs to alter your falling tajectory.

That’s a nice Chun. Love the use of hp fireball… I do that as well.

Got a lot of match vids uploaded. Rather than flood this post with youtube embeds or links, here’s links to 3 forum posts I made that have the match links along with some thoughts.

Batch 1 ft. a couple of birdies I didn’t recognize, 2 vs JiBbo, 2 vs Dang and TampaBison

Batch 2 ft. 2 high rated chuns, and -Work- and Kurokiba giving me the hardbody L

Batch 3 ft. Moons, Edma, my favorite mirror match of the beta, and me guessing wrong on wakeup every time vs a good Ken

Ended up forgetting to record a lot of my matches after day 1, didn’t bother recording stuff that was on streams so none of my JWong matches made it, kinda regret not recording my matches with Nerdjosh after figuring out who he was. I didn’t play on the final day, though I wish I could have gotten back into top 50.

And not attached to the posts I made, here’s a match I uploaded earlier where I played Alucard:

8 - 10 - 12 in SF4.
8 - 12 - 15 in SFV.

Hey I’m curious about something, bud. From time to time in your matches you do low jab, strong x legs (or sometimes just strong x legs) instead of the standard low jab, strong, low fwd x legs. Is there a particular reason you sometimes omit the low fwd? Is it a spacing thing since you’re left closer without the low fwd, sacrificing a bit of damage/stun for better positioning? Or is it something else?

Because pushback on certain punishes wouldn’t allow me to continue with a cr.mk. Blocking necalli’s charge move for instance, the spacing is such that if I cr.lp > st.mp, I’ll whiff the cr.mk if I went for it. I do try my best to visually confirm the spacing of my combos, so if I feel iffy about whether my cr.mk will hit, I’ll end the combo early.

Very noob question here, is there a guide page on how to read the online descriptions of combos?

For example, what does x legs mean?

Or in a post from the first page: “I’m also really curious if combos such as: Cr. Lk, Cr.Lp, Cr. Hp xx LLegs is possible here like it was in SFxTk.”

Granted from a different game, but what would xx legs be? Is x waiting between the two things, etc? Thanks. Been playing these games forever, but haven’t looked too far into the online stuff. Trying to get a leg up.

An “x” (or xx) generally means Cancel. A “,” generally means a Link. So saying strong, low fwd x legs means you hit strong, then link into low fwd, then cancel the low fwd into legs.

It’s not like set in stone or anything though, so you’ll see people not stick to that exact notation sometimes. Its like calling a light punch a jab or a heavy kick a roundhouse. Multiple ways of representing the same thing that you just pick up over time.

EDIT - Forgot to link the guide.

Here are matches i had with kaneblueriver and native impact.

Don’t judge my chun to harshly, first beta I used her and did no research on what the character could do lol.

Had one with you, buddy.

I love the Chun mirror. It’s my favorite matchup by far. Buttons all day. Limbs flailing around. Stupid stuff happening left and right. Conventional wisdom doesn’t always apply since you can both do all the same stuff. Like personally I sort of forget half the crap I’m normally supposed to do and fall into this mode of “Oh my god another Chuuuuuun! I have to press more buttons than her! Gooooooo!” It’s awful, but in an awesome way.

Anyway, GG.

Yea gg man. Pretty sure your the one that reminded me of the cr.lp to st.mp bnb lol. I was doing cr.lk, cr.lp xx light LL’s up until that point haha. So thanks to you I could actually do some damage

Eventhubs put up a preview of the SFV strategy guide. The preview they showed off was Karin. compared her frames to that of Beta 3 and there the same. So either Karin got lucky or Beta 3 is very similar to the final version. Hes hoping Chun didn’t get the Nerf Bat!

Chun should be fine. She’s the strongest woman.

I don’t think that’s the actual KaneBlueRiver. My friend fought him in ranked and called him on the phone after the match and he said it wasn’t him. He was using Birdie when we fought “him”. Nice match tho.

Not sure if it’s been stated but a well spaced meaty F+HK links into CA and crMK.

@Dime_x So apparently Chun’s fireballs going full screen in V Trigger must have been a stealth buff added to her in beta 3/4. I checked beta 2 and V Trigger did not buff the travel of the fireballs. They went the same distance.

I wonder why people do that. I ran into a bunch of “names” during the betas; gameinn, nuckledu, and RZRINFILTRATION, to name a few, and I can tell you with 99.9999999% certainty that I did not get matched up with Daigo, Infil, or Du. I don’t get it. Is it like a ragequit kind of mindset? Like beyond conventional comprehension? I really hope when sfv launches we’ll be able to block CFN names or be able to view associated psn/steam profiles and block players.

I tried that a couple times and totally blew it. I can’t seem to visually judge whether or not the f+rh was meaty (yet).

Yea I should’ve figured. Got confused cause I remember him streaming under his real handle in the earlier betas. Also necalli seems like a character he would use. Armored move, command grab, and a mini gamma wave.

I’d record it but unfortunately, the crack doesnt work with Windows 10’s DVR nor does it work with my usual recording software. It’s best to do it after throw but you have to move up a bit. The timing isnt easy but it’s not difficult. The problem is how ridiculous it looks when it doesnt hit from neutral after throw despite the visual effects going through the opponent’s leg. If you think you’re doing it too early, try moving forward a bit… you may not be in range.

I was getting throw -> whiff 6MP, whiff crLP, 6HK, Super pretty consistently. Try that
