To me the only thing good about SF4 was that everything combo but bad thing that none of it really did damage. Sf5 has damage but no combos. Hope they change it back or make everything link while vtrigger is active. (not just for chun but everyone.)
Chun liâs smile still scares me. If laura doesnt get like some more links its chun/karin again like alpha or if that fan guy is poisonous i might use him too. Poison characters are fun.
Donât know if anyone noticed or not but Chun-Liâs winning quotes have some interesting things that may point to story mode.
Versus Laura:
âI think I saw your name on a missing personâs posterâŚmaybe notâ
Is Sean missing? Did Laura run away?
Versus Rashid:
âSo youâre looking for someone too? I hope you find them!â
Obviously Rashid is searching for someone, but so is Chun-Li.
Who would Chun be looking for? Nash, Guile, Juri, Fan, Bison?
No real answers but interesting to think about for now instead of nerfs, lol
People are starting to figure that Chun is one of the most well balanced characters so far despite the nerfs. All I do is mash on b+HP any ways so I donât feel the nerfz.
Sean being missing wouldnât mean much to me since I donât care for him. I like Laura as a character better any way he can stay missing LOL
Donât know much about Rashidâs story other than his family is rich like Karinâs. Would be interesting if they had some rivalry. Not that I really care that much cuz not a story/lore person.
I thought in beta one she felt top 3 material, Iâd still argue sheâll come out top 5 in the initial release if she stays as is without anything too drastic changing her further.
She should work out. Most of the complaints about nerfs are combo centric, and Chun Li was never really a big combo character. Sheâs usually lacking in combos until she builds up a lot of resource in most games. She works a lot like her 3S version in this game. Mostly just focused on neutral and combos are basic until she pops V Trigger and gains a lot of new combo options from the ground and the air.
Long as they donât take away walking around and hitting the buttons it should all work out. Having pretty much the best crush counter in the game will make her V Trigger even more pertinent now that the focus is building V Gauge with those.
Yeah, Iâm sure something will see a nerf, if it does it will probably be a wave of hitbox/hurtbox nerfs or something about V-Trigger, I doubt theyâll nerf any of the specials any further.
I can feel that she different but still good. Once her formula is found out after release she will be around the top 6 or higher range. Maybe we will get lucky and they add some thing to her.
Alot of people are coming from IV Chun who was more combo centric. So theyâre not familiar with this more classic Chun (and is probably also why sone tend to doenplay her).
SF5 Chun-Li does many things great:
Great Mid-range game, fast normals and command normals.
Cr. Mp is a great tool for fireballs and avoiding jumpins, can be used as Anti-Air as well.
Cr. Hp and F+Hk are good forward moving buttons. (I Do wish Cr. Hp had that second hit EX cancelable utility back, as its options are limited now)
V-Skill is good for multiple reasons and mixing in âTrueâ jump-ins help throw off opponents A/A attempts
V-Skill isnât the best in the game though, I personally place it less than average against the cast.
CA has many, many options - Iâm really curious what all it can punish on block.
She builds CA meter really quick between LLegs and Kikoukens.
V-Trigger was better (had more links and juggle potential), but still has some nice features the oddity about it, is that it changes some combo timing - takes some getting used too.
I donât think she gets full useage of Crush Counters at the moment. Kinda like FADCs in SF4 she wasnât really built with that in mind.
The only things that really hurt her in this current build is the low health and low damage.
The overall damage nerf they did the cast really hurt her as she already didnât deal a whole lot of damage.
She did dish out some nice stun with two full combos landing an easy dizzy, but now Iâd say her ability to dish out stun is a bit average.
So naturally you have to beat on your opponent to make a dent, kinda like SF4 where you could beat on someone and play perfect but still lose half you life on one mistake. This is amplified in SF5.
I would like to see Chun get 950 health like she has in USF4, 900 feels like 850 in this game.
Just my current analysis for what it is worth. My favorite Chun is A3 and SFxTK, so if SF5 Chun could land somewhere in between thatâd be great.
Iâd really like to see Valmaster, Lud, Kayane and a few other Chunâs I follow closely utilize her.
Kayane looked really good when she actually tried in the Paris Game Show I saw.
Youâd think JWong would like her she can be played pretty lame and his spacing is always awesome.
Those are all great players but I think if you want to see what Chun will look like in the strongest hands I think Ricky is best suited. She has world class footsies and I think a lot of player donât know what it is like to be oppressed simply by footsies if they came from sfiv. Chun has some great buttons, but as usual I think the best Chuns will be the ones that have the best reactions and anti air skills, on top of great footsies of course.
Two things I found with chun, might be old but- Her V-skill crosses up but lands in front vs a cornered opponent. Can mix it up with df+hk which does land behind. She can combo s.fp after her bnb into ex fb iirc, I was trying to get c.lp s.mp xx ex fb, s.fp xx V-triggerâŚetc
I know Iâm hella late to the party and everyone most likely already knows this, but inputting any other move during the recovery of st.hp moves her just a tiny bit forward. Now while this might not seem like much, anyone who understands footises knows that the extra little bit of movement can be game changing in some matchups. Just something to think about.
The only time I ever pulled off that combo was by accident when I meant to do strong into f+strong and must have done like a while-rising 156 motion with charge. I think that concept would be a lot more compelling if that command normal only activated on f+strong instead of both but then I guess you would run into accidental fireballs during footsies sometimes when you just want a f+strong poke.
Agreed. She already gets half screen punish with s.hp if someone whiffs a sweep or laggy move. Not to mention reacting to the CH from a single attack nets her close to 50% damage from her super. She definitely plays more like 3s/cvs2 chun where youâre harassed and thrown so much that you press the wrong button and then get punished.
Was so confused when I read this, the reality of sf4 Chun combo game is limited to punishes only, minus that these are the only combos you really are doing.
How you play Chun is exactly the same just the reward is different,
Chunâs design is similar to Ryu, and that itâs very hard for her to be bad in a street fighter game due to the way her tools work
