Mov vs Wolfkrone was painful to watch. You can tell Mov outplayed his opponent but because of how season 2 is…yeah chun just couldn’t keep up
That one was truly upsetting. The character carry is out of hand.
Not seen that wake up v trigger thing against Laura before, very effective. Was it messing with the meaty timing? Either way i’m stealing that. MOV is really impressive.
Yeah that is season 2 for you and so forth with 2.5. If you don’t have burst damage with v triggers+ you’re just at a disadvantage
MOV stagger pressure is real. Very nice. Goes back to what I was saying about stagger pressure… you got the the reads and the timing and you can make it work.
My newest shit is to use throws and fast frame traps pre v trigger super… then once I get v trigger super I use that to shimmy into real damage.
Chun is basically all about staggers and super confirms during v trigger.
Still better than Fang. I’ll take it.
Oh and Gief can’t counter s.HK. Yay
Fuck! You guys are like battered wives. “well, it could be worse (i.e. Fang)”. Shame on all of you.
“Battered Chun syndrome, the horror of season 2”
Ricky dropped Chun, I think this is a-big-enough annoucement from our community for Capcom.
I still hope Chunli get buff after CFN test =.= I fight Urien, Balrog, and other top tiers with rank Platnium or Higher, feel so unfair, the work needed to win them is too much
Welp, seems MOV is dropping Chun for Ibuki, hard to blame him, i guess i’ll start looking for a new main too.
Didn’t he say that he is sticking with Chun yesterday?
Well he played Ibuki a bit last season so it’s not a surpise. And he basically said she was weaker but she still had some strengths that no other character has. Still, he might find that those strengths still just aren’t gonna to measure up against the other cast
As long as my main character is good I’m not worried. My main character is Ibuki. I was already figuring that Ibuki would get buffed and Chun would get nerfed going into Season 2. I already liked Ibuki’s pressure and momentum better than Chun’s even in Season and figured with some nerfs that it would be better to just stick with her.
Chun is still IMO one of the better characters to fight Gief with so I’ll have her around for him. Then again I think Juri does nearly as well vs Gief and has better AA vs him after 2.5 changes
MOV isn’t going to switch to Ibuki for tournaments quite yet. He didn’t say anything about immediate switch. He does use her though.
He also mained Ibuki in SFIV
Man i’m trying with fighting Balrogs, i really am. I just feel so tired whenever see him (which is a lot now), every fighting game has top tiers, but god damn, did they have to make him the easiest fucking character in the game to play as well? Normally i can get in that mind set, ‘just keep working, you work it out eventually’, but this is the first time i have felt like this since vanilla gat. It’s not that he was top tier, it’s that the things that made him top tier were bottom level stuff, so anyone could hit you with it. A come back mechanic that takes you down to at least 50% with a single easy hit confirm, sounds familiar. Not gonna say Balrog is on that level of power obviously, but he is on that level of ease of use and more.
It makes Chuns design and level of power even more befuddling. You have to work 10 times harder than a balrog player for a char that is much worse. And yes, a Balrog player did just beat my ass.
Balrog’s V-trigger is actually better than his ultra was in the SF4 series.
Yeah they both do the same thing which is push you to the corner from basically anywhere on screen, just Rogs pressure and mix up is much more like ST now in V. Meaning your end can be brought off one v trigger
I really think you guys should try out the save to super and drop it during v trigger strat.
Chun has damage from v trigger super, either in her pop or in her v trigger confirms. If you can harass with st.hp and kikokens effectively till she gets super and v trigger its not a bad strat at all.
You do less damage over time, but you take less damage as well since you aren’t jumping or dashing in.
Land one super combo and that’s usually enough to take a round as long as you don’t get hit by any big stuff.
I’ve been playing that way since Season 1 really. It’s just a 3S habit to like building up super that carried over to her. Probably more important now that she can’t just get in and fish buttons for confirm so easily.
Yeah I’ve just switched to it from basically using my meter at any and all times for ex legs and ex kikokens, and trying to get close like point blank, to just trying to maintain a midrange presence since Chun does really well at midrange by using l kikoken to get into midrange and then start bopping shit with st.hp.
Lately I used raw lk.SBK to get rid of Rog’s mid range poke pressure - especially when I got harrassed in the corner. The risk/reward is clearly not in our favor, but if you can make a good read, it’s surprisingly efficient (the range of the first hit is pretty good).
