Chun Li FADC double dash bullcrap

I’ve been purposely using the 3 input double dash to my advantage ever since I learned about it. It is possible to do with other characters, but you have to slow your inputs down a little bit to accommodate their slower dashes. I like to use the double dash into backdash DP bait a lot on wake-up, and using 3 inputs for the double dash helps me to not triple dash. It also feels like I have more time to input my back dash before the second dash is finished.

Wow been sooo long I thought you’d left for good, apparently you’re back  Hope you’re fine

Thanks, yeah, everythings good, I just fell out of it for a while. Only played once in a while with some local friends. The strange part is, I wasn’t practicing between sessions with them, but every time we played, I did better and better. I currently have a winning record against my friend who used to more or less dominate me with his Yang/Ryu, and he has been playing like a madman prepping for Evo. But it’s good to be back. Evo got me in the mood for some SF, so I’ll be around for a while. How’s things been going around here?

Wavedashing Chun.

I have been trying to utilize this. I noticed that Chun’s dash forward is much shorter ranged if she does it from focus stance, and her backdash is longer ranged if she does it from focus.

I have been wanting to give my Chun more offense… A double dash covers a lot of distance, especially using double tap to dash instead of focus dash. It feels as if it could be an extra option against an opponent who is having trouble with her fireball or is backing away predictably.

Disclaimer: technical explanation ahead
double dashing is the result of a buffered dash out of dash. there is a period of time (which I"m calling the leniency window) at the end of dashing where the last input (with priority) is buffered and executed immediately after the dashing frames end (in case anyone was somehow unaware). when you triple forward, the second forward is placed into the input buffer, and if you input another forward during this window, and while the second forward of the dash is in the input buffer, the second dash comes out. With fadc it’s the same thing except that forward can be neg edged while charging. That’s all there is to it.
This only works (I think/would expect; not tested, could be hard coded for all dashes) on dashes which are quite fast because the second forward press would be dropped from the input buffer before the dashing frames reach the leniency window. You cannot triple-back to double dash with chun, for example, and possibly no other characters either.

An aside, if anyone else was curios, chun can cram up to 3 dashes off of sweep or forward throw to bait dp’s with, if you’re willing to bet against throws.

What do you mean by “bulldoging fireballers”?

Blocking a fireball or neutral jumping over them while slowly walking them down.

if you are going to focus absorb be very careful at the range you do it, guile can smack you with f.hp and st.hp for silly focus dashes, you have better luck focus absorbing limbs and what not ala infiltration imo
