I feel like I learned a lot from that Momochi vid. It gives you everything she has in her toolbox that’s good and shows you how to use them. Time to get in the lab.

basic chun question(s)

my main problem is anti-airing jumpin happy players… her back.HK anti air, what can I do after landing this normally (and with v-trigger activated also)?

another problem I see with my chun game is knowing what buttons to air-to-air players with and what I can do following up if they connect. from what i understand… J.MP, and J.HP can juggle? If so, what can I follow up with both normally and in v-trigger as well.

st.lk is your go to anti air for 95% of situations. It is much more reliable than b+hk. After a AA from st.lk you can go for dash under/fake dash under mixups, or just something meaty.

As for air to airs, jumping MP-hk legs is always your best bet.

Combo questions. Any tips on how to combo the forward mp after the ex fireball? Also any tips for the c.lp st.mp xx ex fireball combo? Thanks for the answers

as for back.HK, I started activating v-trigger then follow with back HK juggle into stnd.HP or cr.HK as a anti air v-trigger activation. been working but still trying to learn better uses or options.

Trying to learn Chun Li lately. Never really used her much in SFIV.

  1. Which SBK is best to use after a cr.LP, cr.MK xx ??SBK?

  2. How in the world are those pro players doing this combo and getting the SBK out in time: cr.LP, st.MP, cr.MK xx SBK
    I tried this in Training Mode and could never get the SBK to come out in time.

  3. Dumb question here, but R.Mika has this thing where she neutral jumps and hits me with a n.HK I think. I block, and she immediately does her Command Throw. What am I supposed to do? I feel like I’m in block stun and just end up getting Command Thrown every time (the one where she grabs your legs like a wheelbarrow move). Does any normal beat it? I can’t tech throw right?

  1. Is this in v-trigger? or on cr.lp CH? In both cases it’s mk.sbk

  2. Practice… I know this sounds like a dick answer but that’s really all it is. If you’re having trouble you’re either A: not charging early enough, or B: cancelling too late, it’s pretty strict timing. Practice this until you can do it with your eyes closed, this way it’s muscle memory and all you need to do is confirm the first jab.

  3. Most command throws in this game have 5 frame startup, Mika has a true 50/50 mixup here however so you’re forced to guess, either jump out/use throw invincibility to backdash, reversal with ex.sbk. If she decides not to command throw and does standing fierce and you guess wrong you’ll be reset and forced to guess yet again. Long story short… Don’t get knocked down by Mika.

guess I have to drop chunli because frame perfect bnb is stupid

edit: bah nevermind, I just got it, I’m getting it consistently too now
my only advice is don’t whine, just grind it out, if you have to watch the momochi chun-li basic video and pay close attention to his timing in the combo

I’m starting to have success with the st.mp cr.mk xx mk.sbk now too.

The advice about treating it as a link is good. I am thinking of it as though I am inputting another normal, not a special cancel. It’s a tough habit to break as I’m used to doing normal to special in one movement.

my main problem is starting the charge after st.MP.

Im able to cancel into MK SBK with one input with negative edge or into LK SBK easily… I just have a hard time charging.

I also have an easier time with the timing when looking at the hit counter as someone here suggested earlier. As soon as it hits the 3rd you input the SBK instantly.

I’ve just changed camp from FANG to Chun Li after getting fed up of doing no damage.

In theory I can do IA lightning legs but it feels like the motion itself is really slow due to having to hit the button late on it and I’m struggling to figure out when I have time to throw it out.

Is this right or am I flubbing the execution somewhere?

If it is just done slowly, when are you usually throwing it out during a match?

So thinking about switching mains from Sim to Chun li, and I’m wondering what kind of stuff should I be drilling in the lab?

Right now I just dink around with hit confirming c.lp, c.lp, s.lp, HK Legs. Whiff punish c.hp, lk legs, c.lp, lk sbk. AA lk. And IA Legs over fireballs

I’m thinking about making my way through the character specific punishes in the other thread.

What should I work on before unleashing her on the ladder?

Def SBK combos, punishes and spacing. The basic V-trigger combos too if you want.

What’s the best stun punish?

CC Hk Dash cr.mk xx lk.legs cr.lp xx lk.sbk is 303/503
