Chinatown Fair NYC | Friday is the last day

I actually played a lil GG when i went the last time… I was playin my boy… that was both of our first times playin… i didnt know it was so easy to do combos in that shit… I was like huh??? but i barely did anything

Combos aren’t that easy to do, heh.

Simple combos are easy, it’s usually just S>S>HS>something, the hard shit is… hard.

Yeah. Like, P K S HS D is easy cause cause its just mashed out.

I play Slayer so links are hella hard to land. I still can’t land Dandy Step links. I should show up this Friday if it isn’t blizzard cold.

Did anyone go on Sunday? I went there for my first time and played GG, 3s, and Soul Calibur 2. :woot: Wanted to play more but I had to leave 'cause my friends wanted to go to the movies.

My main is Millia but I’m also trying to pick up Slayer and Faust. Is Slayer pretty hard to pick up? :sweat:

well ive watched GG games before and seen combos… so i just tried to repeat wat i saw and it kinda worked… the stick is crazyyy though… id like somethin like that for mvc2 on my stick at home

@ReloadChapstick: Slayer isn’t hard in terms of air combos, but his ground game is pretty hard to work since he plays like a CvS2 char. So he’s mainly links on the ground. He’s all about BBU setups which start up with 2k 2hs link. Then there’s his CH game which leads into air combos and ground combos. Minimal effort is max damage for Slayer. 5 hits is what it’ll take him to turn the tide in the match.

@SF Phocus: If you’re not cracking 50% combos then it isn’t that easy. Who do you use?

Get on that GG Phocus, be the next Dogura.

Anyways, how does Johnny play in AC? Anyone want to sum up basics of AC?

I’m not in the mood to read an “faq” or “tutorial.”

Johnny is the lowest tier of the power characters. Don’t worry about tiers though. This basically means he’s pretty slow. His combos do a helluva lot of damage though. He kinda has to wait for opportunities though. I don’t like any of his pokes tbh but like I said before, his damage payoff is great. 2D sweep is one of his greatest attacks also but don’t abuse it.

Everyone does high damage in AC. Its just a matter of who can do it with less effort. Also, Johnny is a very technical char. Don’t expect to win a lot with him. He takes the most dedication to win with.

I say start with Sol. Best beginner char in the game.

um i dont even remember his name… he had like a big flat sword… lol :looney:

How’s he different from slash?

I don’t like Sol (that’s who you talking about phocus or maybe order sol).

He’s no different outside of the fact that his Jackhound takes up tension since its his Forcebreak and he has a new aerial move called Killer Joker. I was playing Johnny is Slash and then for a bit in AC before I made the switch to Slayer.

Must’ve been Order-Sol, then :looney:

I’m thinkin about goin this friday, gotta level up!

So I’m guessing Johnny must be that low tier or Slayer is just top tier, or both.

I usually don’t start playing a game unless I like using some character.

Slayer is one of the top tiers and Johnny is one of the two shit tiers.

Damn.

If I were to try AC at CTF and focus on Johnny how much of a struggle would it be?

Like compare it to Marvel/3S matches.

Also how free are the machines there? Like Marvel and 3S are always busy, is the AC cab ever not in use so I could practice?

edit: who’s the other shit tier, been a while since I used to visit dustloop

Ah I see. I have to practice a bit more with him 'cause I got slaughtered when I last picked him. Doesn’t help I don’t have my own stick to practice at home so needless to say I’m better on the controller.:sweat::rofl:

Guilty Gear is more about learning character specifics and your matchups, you will pretty much have to play somewhat differently vs alot of the cast. Johnny isnt shitty but if there was a tier list I guess people put him at the button but they say the same about anji and anji always beasts in videos.

Heres the japanese player Bleeds matchup chart.
Johnny vs:
Sol = 5.5:4.5
Ky = 4.5:5.5
May = 5:5
Millia = 4.5:5.5
Eddie = 4:6
Potemkin = 4:6
Chipp = 5:5
Faust = 5:5
Baiken (Bye Ken) = 5.5:4.5
Jam = 4:6
Axl = 4:6
Anji = 5:5
Venom = 4.5:5.5
Testament = 4.5:5.5
Dizzy = 5:5
Slayer = 4.5:5.5
I-No = 4.5:5.5
Zappa = 5:5
Bridget = 5:5
Robo-Ky = 6:4
ABA = 4.5:5.5
Order-Sol = 5.5:4.5

Johnny takes some work but it’s wouldn’t be an uphill struggle. Just find a character your comfortable with and learn specifics. You can always make the decision later to pick the best haha.

AC cab is generally empty most of the time until Friday night when the, literally, the midnight carnival actually arrives. GG players are never early, so you have enough time for practice.

Bridget is the other shit tier. Both require actual execution to play and you have to be on point with everything they do, if not, you will lose hard.

A lot of CF heads would probably lose since no one plays Johnny. After a few plays, they would probably adapt, but I don’t have much faith in the CF GG scene at the moment.

I’ll probably show up just to play since I’m fairly out of practice right now. Gotta get my Slayer buff.
