Try Q vs Makoto. Speaking of which when’s the next time you’re going to be at CF? I wanna MM ya.
Makoto I can handle, somewhat, because it’s still a guessing game, but really it’s just murderous on the guy to play against Ibuki, god damn.
I’ll be there this Saturday for the tournament, MM then :D.
It’s a guessing game for the makoto user too. :looney:
I know, that’s why I said can handle her ‘somewhat’, versus freaking Ibuki, ugh.
X(
actually, a good makoto in the zone will recognize the beginning of their reactions and punish accordingly. robot’ish systematic process, quite scarier than typical spam of high/low/throw.
guessing increases the chance for errors/unfavorable outcomes, that kind of play gets chewed out like nothing in the long run. if thats how you like to play, you can with little success but its generally understood that type of play feels at home with casuals, which is basically playing for nothing, thats as far as mid level 3s goes.
woah there kofiend, no need to chew the guy out ;p

in my honest opinion, learning to discipline yourself and react properly to all the situations, despite knowing what other options you have, is one of the hardest things you have to learn.
me personally, i give more props to the guy that loses from being disciplined, any uninhibited monkey can run around refusing to evolve and still lose, but whos winning in the long run? who doesn t want the quick and easy way out?
i m gonna wake up super nuki and rob him for a game, “damn i MUST be good” and go brag. who am i impressing? my peers honestly don t care since it wasn t them, and now nuki is telling himself “ok scrub”, directing his play towards “scrub kill mode” cause the trust that the opponent being decent went out the window. proceed to die by well applied jabs with him at 95% left, who respects your playing ability again? what will you tell your bruised ego to sleep well?
always set aside the thoughts “what would a better player do/not do in this situation?”, even when your winning.
this hobby of ours is competitive, theres people across the country perfecting themselves to become “complete” enough in all aspects, so they can begin on even playing field and fight top players, mind to mind, earning crucial points, despite being able to own up their peers. not praying and wishing something goes in their favor, filling in time till then.
skipping steps then asking “why?” or just stopping your progress because your competition doesn t demand it, is like, the most retarded waste of time.
also- aside from friendly shit talk, bragging about casuals is so stupid, go ask any tourny player all the people he s ever beaten in casuals, he ll name 6477776 players you ve only heard of.
“hey, i beat so and so over nothing, no money, no ps2, look who i can beat when i try hard and so and so doesn t care”.
thats the guarantee of tourny/money matches, people don t understand casuals is nothing
:karate: :lovin:
KOFiend is right though. Getting into patters is bad, esp. if you cant notice that. Hopefully this next tourney will get me thinking properly and playing smarter. Too much f’ing SC3.
i m saying in general, not you specifically
For me, I HAVE to play just as random as the other randoms to beat them which causes me to suck to the actual good people unless i lose to them a couple times then i finally get into their playstyle. I’ve noticed all my matches really have nothing to do with character-specific strategies or playstyle strategies, I just try to out reflex them hit them with 1 of kens infinte pokes to link into saIII first. Plus all the jumpin/tick grabs help :). Also i have this 1 friend whos plays just as much as me and he vs each other all the time so much that we know exactly what each other is gonna do so winning is basically who ever knock the other down first.
when i was at CTF about a couple weeks ago i didnt see in urien players…
KOfiend is absolutely right.
Reaction and discipline in certain situations without patterns is hard to learn unless you experience it firsthand(talking cvs2, but its the same principle.)
The good thing about this is, it helps you in other aspects in your game other than this. Once reaction and all that becomes second nature, you start seeing things in the game you don’t notice before, and you gradually get better, much faster than before as you go further with learning the game.
Once you get most of this down, there’s no more guessing and you start doing stuff that you use to not do because it was “risky”. Nah, you just didn’t know how to use it.
Think outside the box, and you’re on your way.
btw anyone one going to CTF tommorrow. Ill be in Chinatown at 3;30 after school and be at CTF stay most of the night until 7 or 9 for tournament practice :P.
Kzai, if youre in this thread check the Chicago thread plz…
