Chicks, Kicks & Flicks - The Chun-Li Video Thread

Very nice combos, dudes!!!

Thanks Brian… I pretty much took your ending combo, and used assists with it for damage. I wanted to just show that she can also do some damage.

Nice combos! Honestly, I had given up on Chun a while back since doing SBK loops online is dumb, but I think I might bring her back. I’m definitely stealing some of those combo ideas, since they are far easier (and flashier) and do more damage than what I’ve been doing before. Thanks!

One more set with me and my friend:

Just spreading the word.

Oh my god, there’s totally this one guy that nobody has ever seen or heard of that’s good with Chun-Li and there’s a FT10 online we can watch:

Oddly enough, I found this a few days ago looking for Chris material, I guess Mr. Kasugano didn’t share because he thinks we’re tired of him posting his sets. As fucking if.

edit: Good god, how did I not notice the freaky drunk-o-vision going on the first time I watched this? What’s the story there?

Yes, I suppose people are a little tired of watching my Chun-Li and also, people barely come to these parts, so…
Anyway, I have this video uploaded to my channel, isn’t it available for you to watch? That’s funny.

Here:

Hey guys. This is a footage from a tournament today.
The quality is not really good, but its watchable:

I’ve actually been really curious about this: What’s the tournament scene like down in Brazil? What games do you guys play down there and where are things centered? Do Brazilian players travel up north to compete or is it more insular? D Brazilians get involved or is it mostly the Japanese population? I just imagine it’s very different down there; like it would take quite a bit of passion to keep alive.

There are a lot of problems in my country that makes it hard for the competitive scene to grow.
To start with, our taxes are way to high. Whenever we import a game, we pay 60%+ of the total invoice to the government, due to taxes, so the games end up costing twice their retail price.

  • This year we had our first major tournament. We had a few players from Canada and Chile. Tom Brady was coming too, but unfortunately he lost someone from his family.
  • We don’t have many players.
  • A major tournament gathers like 120 MvC players and 160 SFIV players.
  • There are a few players that travels around the country to join tournaments.
  • Most top players in UMvC3 don’t use top tiers because they are top tiers (I suppose only 2 do) [I could name name a few ones so you can watch their matches]
  • The most played games are: SFIV, MvC3, MK and KOF XIII.
  • The SfxT scene is almost dead. We can barely get people to play in tournaments.
  • After our first major, things are getting better in regard to the scene. We’re getting support from a few stores, prefecture etc.
  • The number of tournaments has been rising.

I’m pretty optimist about the scene. It’s growing a lot and more players are gathering all around the country.

The tax thing is, of course, incredibly lame. And 120/160 players is nothing to dismiss. There are majors in the US that have those kinds of numbers. Keep us posted on the community down there.

I forgot to say: Our UMvC3 tournaments are Best of 5.
We have adopted that format in order to avoid “randomness”. It’s still not ideal for a game like Marvel, but it’s way better than Best of 3.

Some casuals with friends. there’s of my gameplay in the earlier archives.
I decided to drop storm for doom. his beam assist is way better protects chun much better… and doom is a powerful character. I’ve started to plink dash, so it makes it easier for me now to get in there.

Kind of saddens me to hear that because I’ve been running Chun/Storm since vanilla because I love the characters… but I completely understand why you did xD

Yeah. iirc Lud and I discussed that a bit in the Facebook chat some time ago. :china:

Chun with an OTG of her own in Ult means she’s not as dependent on Storm to net damage like she was in vanilla (the kick + Hail team super). This opens up more possibilities team-wise.

I usually play storm against phoenix or morrigan teams, so she’s still a my backup character

Yeah I’m thinking of separating my Chun and Storm too. Honestly, I like Storm more so she will be on my main team while Chun will probably be relegated to my secondary team. I want to try and see how Chun works with Strider because if the synergy is good I might try for a Viper/Chun/Strider team. How Viper benefits from this team is obvious but I need to make sure that Chun isn’t too handicapped with only a Strider assist. I mainly have problems with people up-backing Chun though so maybe it’ll work. But playing around with that will have to wait until I make my Storm team.

projectile assist is best for chun… less work. strider not so much, but good luck.

Back when Fchamp visited. Lucky break post-Kikosho I guess?
