10 dollars is not something to complain about. Do any of you have even minimum wage jobs? it’s what, an hour and a half of work? you get to go to pretty much the only chicago gathering, play people in person, network socially, and most of all get better, all at a good venue, for seven straight hours. if you spend 150+ on a stick, you shouldn’t be complaining about 10 for what this is doing for the chicago scene.

First off, I know I’m an 09er and I’ve not known people in the scene for as long as the others.
However I just want it to be known, that Domingo and MCM are doing this not for profit. Bu rather to help chicago level up. Venues fees are contributing to setups iirc so we don’t have to lug so much stuff around. They are making it central for ease of congregation of the Chicago or mw scene.
Personally I hope they make it so that in future after all is said and done with venue fees and what not, that the place becomes a hangout for weekdays or weekends toget casuals in etc.
I doubt it’s too much to ask but community support would be nice. While I understand that personal schedules and budgets may be of concern, all I ask is for people to express long term consideration for the scene/community in general and lvling up the MW.
I think a problem here is people are still living in the past. We’ve had locations such as Gigawatts and CAD where the fee was non existent or extremely cheap. And guess what? Their businesses are both extinct. A few years ago one could go to an arcade and spend maybe 5$ and have games for the night and get some moderately variable competition, but you still had to pay to play if you wanted to improve.
Today is different only in the scale of things. There are fewer arcades, and only one with newer games. If you want competition, you pay to play online via XBL, pay to go to the arcade, or pay to go to a place where multiple games and players reside. If you don’t want to pay, then you’ll just have to settle for less variety, whether it is a small personal gathering, PS3, or PC.
Paying to play has always been about competition, just ask Ari how much he had to pay for matches against Bp Amoco. If you aren’t competitive, then put the time and effort into a gathering of your own for a more casual pace.

Gigawatts had this issue with taking money…if you brought your own shit, you didn’t have to pay a dime. Marcus, Jim, myself, and a couple of friends of mine went up there on my birthday, and I had a PS2 with me and whatnot…The owner GAVE ME MY MONEY BACK!?!
CAD (the one I ran back in 2007) wasn’t my place of business, I was just usin’ the place for us. CAD would’ve done better if it were advertised better, and I did what I could with the friday fight nights, but Cliff wasn’t makin’ the big bank with the cafe itself…so thats why it’s gone.
