sooo I just got my copy of sf4 for ps3 from gamefly
game & overall package in superb condition…instructions there, case is unscuffed, flipped the disc over and it’s crystal clear. highly suggest giving these guys a shot before you buy anymore used shit from gamestop or gamecrazy. really the game looks brand new aside from the cellophane wrapper being removed. great deal for 23 bucks too, exactly what I was looking for at that price

wtf is up with ps3 games…I noticed SF4 looked a bit odd on my big tv earlier so I check the back of the box and the highest video output is 720p? lol.
so I check the other games I got, bb only supports 1080i, killzone2 1080i, and mgs4 is the only game I own that can output in full 1080p. that’s very disappointing considering both BB and SF4 can both be played in full 1080p on 360…even kof12 has 1080p output…wtf.
this isn’t even an argument I’ve ever seen in all the 360/ps3 flame wars I’ve read, and it’s probably the biggest noticeable issue (besides ps3 loading times…) between two identical versions of the game. ps3 is supposed to be an even more powerful machine so wtf is the deal.
think now that I got the major fighters on both platforms, I’m always gonna check to see if multiplatform stuff has 1080p video on PS3…if not, I’m sticking to 360 version. this gets a definite :lame: stick.

Dude… first off, install the game. Go to options in SF4 and hit install game or whatever.
Next – the ps3 and xbox 360 versions are both 720p. MS just likes to put 1080p on all the boxes now because they upconvert the signal. The PS3 version can do 1080p too in that sense.
I installed first before even seeing how the game looked. Don’t really understand how this would effect visuals anyway, its supposed to just improve some load times.
My TV displays 1080p on screen GUI when I have my 360 exporting video. My PS3 (yes I have it set to 1080p video in the main menu) when playing sf4 or bb only comes up 720p on my tv GUI. There is a definite visual difference also, it’s not just an “upconvert”. If it was, it would just look like the same shit just scaled up. I have upconvert on my standalone bluray player, and I know how it makes dvds look. This isn’t it. There’s definitely a visual quality difference, and after playing the 360 version for about 6 months I can’t help noticing how shitty 720p actually looks.
I picked up my PS3 for exclusives anyway, so I’m fine with it. Just saying what I have already looks much much better on 360, and I’ll continue to buy for it if I don’t see 1080p format supported on the PS3 versions.
They are both absolutely 100% 720p.
The XBOX version just looks better. Look up some comparison videos.
Trust me, I know more about tvs and displays than you can imagine. I used to do ISF calibrations on TVs and am pro photographer who deals with the highest end of high end when it comes to audio/video/etc.

i’m running a tournament this month in racine wi but sf2 isn’t on the list this time. The focus is on the more popular games right now – SF4 and BB, and then the main feature is gonna be tekken 6. I’m getting back to my roots with this game and doing my part in getting people out of the woodwork and getting more people to learn the game. The 4th game at the tournament is going to actually be the new melty blood game.
But I plan on running more tournaments in the future and i’m going to try to include sf2. Also Dark Kakashi might be running another tournament series, so hopefully he includes SF2 as part of that. I still like HDR a lot and people are angry over not being able to play me apparently lol so ya… the game is not dead to me yet but maybe just on a short break.

No, SOME are true 1080p.
Some are “1080p” but they cheat and do 1440x1080 etc.

In other news, Frankie put a CVS2 in my main set-up today (the horror!!). The game looked hilariously bad because HD Box Pro upconverted the image to 1280x1024 and we saw the smallest details for every single sprite.
Dictator’s face during win pose looked like a 3 year old kid’s stick man scribbling. 
the 1080 on xbox 360 is just upscaling like lee k is saying. The games are programmed to run in 720 then the xbox converts them to run in 1080i or 1080p. Very few games are actually made to run in 1080 because of the processing power to run at that resolution. MS is willing to pay a kick back to software companies for putting the 1080 logo on the box. I dunno why PS3 doesn’t upscale to 1080 but some times you can trick the system into running games in 1080 by disabling 720p and just selecting 480 and either 1080i or 1080p or both in the display settings on the ps3. Though this can cause games to just run in 480… which just sucks.
oh and uhhh only 400,000 in lumines 1 after 3 years of not playing it lol i suck
I was actually considering doing that when I was tinkering through the menus. Seemed like too much work for the payout, and with the side effect of maybe going into 480 I guess it’s not worth it.
