Location: Southside Chicago (Englewood), I stay a few blocks from Kennedy King and I stay not far from J-Money.
Games: SSF4, AE (when it hits DLC soon). Currently having a character crisis as to who I’m gonna main when AE hits, that can range from Rose, Sakura or Yun.
Hobbies: Gaming, listening to music (VGM, Techno, House, oldschool Rock, Pop, Hiphop, Rap, R&B and Blues. There not really too music that comes out nowadays that fits/suits my likings although there be tracks here and there that I might like. That just me, to each his own.
Even though I’m from or stay on Southside I’m not hooded/ghetto/thugged out or whatever you wanna call it, not that it probably matters, just wanted to point that out. I came on the scene back in 2009 sometime after SFIV came out like most new people, though I was only around for a short period of time. I’m looking to come back sometime in the near future. I actually met and spoke to some you all face to face in the past like Konkrete (lost to his Sim back at that time in one of the tournies, I think it was call Clash of Brokenness on the Northside of Chicago somewhere ), Jim (CrackaJXXL although it was very brief, I had a nice XBL sessions and convo with him, hes a good guy), Marc or Mark I think (Madbooface I played his viper with Ryu at one of the tournies here downtown Chicago back in 09 during casuals. I remember asking him a question about the matchup, specifically about Viper’s Burning Kick crossups.) and probably several others I met I don’t know/remember by name or handle.
As we know AE is coming out and I’m gonna be playing it like crack once it hits, I been getting whooped on XBL pretty badly recently and occasionally when I play one of Chicago greats (Marcus, Sprig, GLB, Scromp, Yanu, etc). I lost over a 1000 PPs dropped from 4680 down to 3600 and something, I knew and felt that my skill didn’t reflect that amount of PPs to being with. Anyways my main point is that its about time I start waking up and start playing seriously and be dedicated, hitting up training mode to learn what my char can do against all normals/specials/setups whether they’re blocked, whiffed , or being stuffed on start up with their normals, setups and maximum damaging combos base on meter, spacing, etc. As well as stop freestyling my matches but having/learning good strategies and game plans aka learning the match ups.
I know this a long introductory but I’m honestly looking to come back on the scene soon hopefully. I can’t say exactly when as that all depends on how and when things pans out. But with some dedication on my part all should be well.

Marvel, sf, and mk, in that order gets play.
Could be an option for any decent human beings up north.
Worst comes to worse, I’ll open up my garage for fuckers and we can play there, but I live in the hood, and you’d probably be scared to come through.

Hello SRK.
This is my first post, and I’d like to say that I have specifically created this account in hopes of trying to find an offline fighting game scene in Chicago.
I’ve read this thread a few times, and I know ‘new’ people aren’t welcomed with open arms, especially since the MvC3 incident I read about, but I’d figure I’d try to introduce myself any way. I’d like to say, that I am interested in trying to play one of my favorite fighting games offline. That game is MK. I want get into it competitively and learn to play other players without latency, have fun and level up at the same time and possibly show up to bigger tournaments.
Not to sure where events and stuff take place in Chicago aside from Area 13 I believe, but I hope to get involved. Though, I hope it isn’t a crap neighborhood because I’ve had bad experience of getting stuff stolen, and confrontations from people being thugs.
I plan to one day show up and try to meet other players, play MK, and hopefully get into SSFIV:AE. I’m not that much into SF, grew up with MK, but am interested in expanding my options, SF seems interesting enough. I just have to find the attachment with the character(s), story, to become interested in the franchise, so I have an incentive to keep myself intrigued on who, what and why I’m playing this game. I’ll also give SF X Tekken a try, because no dobut in my mind, when that releases it’s going to be the next ‘hot’ thing, and is probably going to overshadow other FG games, MK/and SFAE probably. Not a big MvC3 player either.
I’ve posted the same message @ Test Your Might, and they directed me here as well.
For MK, I’m playing Reptile and hoping to expand my skill set with him and other characters as well, possibly SubZero and Kung Lao 1 or 2 others.
My knowledge of FG games and it’s mechanics are limited, even in MK as the last FG game I touched was on the SNES MKs, so I kind of struggle to learn advanced knowledge or ‘already’ known knowledge and terms that most people are already familiar with. So expect me to ask a lot of questions, even stupid noobish ones.
So this is I guess my formal introduction, I hope the people I meet are nice, not jerks or wannabe posers like most Chicago youth, and I hope to play MK and SF:AE learn a lot with some gamers alike.

And nice to meet all you guys that are posting, I dont think AreaXIII is really having those limitations anymore. But Joe can clarity that now, we need more players…and we have more new people to the scene then we have dedicated players from the 09’er era.
