Dev- mod is the same as custom IMO. People modify their joysticks. I customize peoples joysticks.

Nope, we (Tech Talk) established long ago that there was a difference between a custom (a.k.a. a custom built stick) and something that was modded.

Here, the term comes from the fact that these things are ā€œcustomā€ built for people from scratch.

the same logic that most places that sell aftermarket Honda Civic parts do. As you modify it you ā€œcustomizeā€ the stick closer to your wants hence the customs part.

I think what d3v doesn’t get what is custom, ie: the panels (this panel seems pretty custom to me). I am also glad to see there is someone out there offering custom panels.

As much as I love to debate stuff. I’m going to agree on ā€œcustomā€ being something made from scratch. And now im just backing away.

Thanks Slaycruz but just x-snay on the custom cases-nay brah. Lol

Semantics. Forums. Never the twain should meet.

Just signed up…ive been playing 3s for around 2 months yet…didnt want to pay 100+ for an xbox 360 stick so thought i would make my own…i like making stuff so was fun in itself…ive never used a router and done wood work…mainly just worked on fixing cars etc…im using ebay 360 controller, sanwa sticks and buttons  apolgies for the photo quality…just some quick phone ones…

This grey one is my first, bit of a rushed effort, learnt a lot through doing it…going to be transferring all the parts onto a new stick im gonna start work on next week…hoping it turns out a lot cleaner and nicer…photo is one i took and a friend printed onto vinyl for me…

Second stick im currently making for my other half whos been playing a bit longer than me…decided to use MDF over plywood for this one and spend more time on the actual finish…all painted in gloss white, with a pearl white and lacquered…lacquer needs a wet sand and buff still…havent fitted the joystick properly and wiring still needs to be done next week…pearl white paint looks amazing in person…shame the photos dont show it properly!

Pretty nice and very Pretty. Especially the second one

thanks…only very simple but i quite like how its fairly pure! wish i could find a pearl ball top or something very similar!

If you wanted to make one, you could melt a sheet of pearloid into a mould, trim the flash, tap hole and insert brass threads, then sand+polish to finish. You could also make a rod of pearloid and turn it on a lathe.

The ā€œHow to paint your ballsā€ thread (title has since changed).

didnt even know this type of plastic existed…definitely something to look into…i wonder if melting it will ruin its structure though…or if its even a plastic that can be melted…from what i remember some plastics can only be molded once where as others can be reheated and molded several times…

i dont really trust painting something which will get used a lot…ive seen people paint stuff years ago and it wares off over time, i even painted an old airsoft gun and it wore off after a few months…maybe i will give it a go if i cant mold/buy a pearl ball though…appreciate the replies guys

How did you like working with the case and going from there?

I am thinking of doing the same thing, with a new Blazblue port coming to PC sometime next month.

Thanks Yenjoi.

The Ball top one is rock solid there is another one I linked a long time ago. Buy a blank and give it a shot if you have apprehensions about doing it. It works though. I did one a year ago and everything has been good no wear off for paint or anything.

Don’t quote images.

What I’m bringing to NEC14. If you see this, know that I’m probably in a Santa costume - so don’t be afraid to say ā€œHello!ā€

Epi, you must have the creepyest games room going, with all these sticks haha

Also, what holds the…erm…stick(?)…in place?

Basic screws and nuts. Though there is a curve, I can still anchor it down at the tangent points.

Also - my games room is pretty ordinary, if a bit messy. Unfortunately, I don’t have that much money to keep buying new parts (buttons, wires, pcbs) so I have to cannibalize them from my previous sticks.

I still need to find a proper mount for Skelebox though - the masking tape to the ceiling ain’t cutting it.

Why is the layout reversed?

Also, are you the same guy who did the Dakimakura stick?
