My Jinpachi also wasn’t carrying his weight. My offense with him was really bad. When I got home though I figured out some combos for his different CH attacks (as well as some other attacks to pressure with). I also found some oki stuff that I was really lacking, it’s frustrating because I feel that if I knew all of this yesterday I wouldn’t have lost a match XD blaaargh
It felt good though to be able to identify exactly what was going on. Aside from not punishing Jaycee hopkicks, I wasn’t punishing WS+4 (-14), FC,d/f+4,3 (-16), nor ff+1,4 (was always finishing the string, last hit can be ducked and WS punished). It effectively gave him a low risk, high reward mix-up that I was so tunnel visioned in on trying to figure out that my offense became super repetitive (I wouldn’t go low out of the fear of the random hopkick I wasn’t punishing). Miguel got me in the winners’ bracket because he was saving him to come in raged and go crazy with rushdown. I forgot Miguel is supposed to be SSL to avoid his d/f+1 mix-ups, and I couldn’t block that big low out of full crouch/Savage stance. That sucked D: Once I started to piece together when he could go into SAV I had less problems with Miguel. That Jaycee u/f+4,3,1 man… like… that one move changed the entire outcome of the tournament. Miguel hopkick I shut down with the quickness (b+1,2, W!, d/f+3,1~5, B!, Marduk f+1+2,2, Jinpachi f+2+4, d+4. DO NOT HOPKICK JINPACHI. HE IS A MAN.) It goes to show how important it is to know your punishers and character match ups. I’m going hard in November when the Sumter ranbat comes around D:<
