It is def a nice spot, but imo I think you should make it bi-weekly bc Josh has a point that the money can add up around $20 a month if it’s weekly… So my idea was maybe have 1st week for casuals, and then the Bi-week be a ranbat or something… How does eveyone else feel about it??
I think we need to find out how serious 5 dollars is for everyone.
I personally don’t find 20 a month for a large, fun place that anyone and everyone can come and stream bad at all.
But if the majority find it too much, then the majority wins.
For me:
-$5 to play people that i could play for free
-Gas to drive the 50mi round trip when i could host or play somewhere without a fee
-Saturday night when i can walk out my front door and be surrounded by CofC girls o.o
Esp if people are running sets there is no way i am paying money to sit and wait.
Can people bring in their own food + drink?

Here’s the thing: The site is a neutral site where it is easier for people to go to instead of being uncomfortable going to someone’s house where you have to worry about rules, noise levels, or a shorter time frame, which will help grow the community more. You have to remember that people are gonna be spending gas money regardless of where they go and also the people that are hosting at their places are paying that extra money because of electricity that is used for that extended period of time. I understand that people don’t wanna pay money but this guy is offering up his place and should be properly compensated for his generosity also he is talking about having a pass where you pay a one time fee per month of 15 which gives a 5 dollar discount for coming to the venue. It also lets the new players that come in, get used to the Tournament environment and how they are ran also we can stream our matches and get our names out in the FGC and make Charleston a big name and possibly get top players to come and play down here as well.
@ Josh - You can bring your own food + drinks also there are affordable drinks at the venue as well as a good amount of food places around the venue. He also has given us some free food last night as well but don’t expect that to be a every time thing though.
@ Paul - I’m not gonna stop people from hosting at their houses but i’m gonna be hosting at the venue every Sat night because of the neutral ground, set-ups, space, etc. I will still be hosting at my house once and awhile but I wanna focus on the Sat Night Fights there in order to grow the community easier.
I like Sat Night Fights for that very reason.
Tom has been super generous letting everyone bum rush his house every week with literally no kind of compensation.
At SNF we don’t have to worry about sudden interruptions or the person holding the casuals at his house calling it off for emergencies or etc. etc.
SNF is right off 61, 78, and 26, so no one should have a problem getting there.
It’s a safe environment with friendly people.
A few people I never met came out simply because they don’t know Tom and therefore wouldn’t want to come to his house.
That place is not right off of 26 and is not central at all. I’m not saying let’s not play there, but lets not say stuff that’s not true. I’m all for setting up there, don’t get me wrong. we have done this before though. I’m more so looking for ways to try entice people out there, and money is going to be in issue although it might not be for others.
Remember how play and trade and dot games worked out? what is going to make this experience different from those? Finding solutions to those problems will go a long way in keeping this go around stable.

Get off 26 Summerville exit, drive for like 5 minutes.
You are providing no alternative.
It’s like Dustloops Skullgirls tournament thread all over again.
I had fun last night. People are nice and i get to play different people. I’ll be back again for sure. and we got Logan with set teaming equipment so he stream matches so the community and enjoy.
I need to work on staying calm and not crack under pressure
I wasn’t able to attend due to my band business, but I do like the idea of having a place where we can go that is out of people’s houses. Even if everyone can’t make it every time I think it will be a good move for our scene having a place like that. Also I wasn’t around for the play n trade and dot games scenario’s but from my understanding, this guy actually wants us there, so that could make a difference in the relationship between us and the owner…just my 2 cents.
I will be on PS3 TTT2 around 9:30 tonight and was going to make a Charleston room for us to get in some local games. That should be less lag then playing people out of state…
Do you need the online code for player rooms too?
Because I’m on Jay’s copy.
lol thomas who typed this for you?
GG’s last night. The new venue was great. It was larger than I expected and the number of setups available (store owned and supplied by us) was impressive. Food and snacks available in store for a cheap price. This is exactly what our scene needed.
Ive been a member of this scene since 2001. The only reason this scene exists outside of the arcade days is becauce we have members who are willing to offer up their houses as a place for us to game from time to time. Whether it was Paul, Jerome, Josh, or Chris T. I have come to appreciate more and more over the years what they did in order to keep our scene alive. Fast forward to today and we have a much larger group of players, and even fewer places for us to game together. Since the gaming at trident tech on Saturdays came to a halt Thomas has been almost single handedly keeping this scene together by hosting us generously at his house almost every saturday. (Shout out to Justin for hosting when Thomas doesnt). This isnt a solid solution that will last very long. For those who havent been to Thomas’s on a Saturday night lately, they dont see he has 8+ people showing up everytime not including himself. Its extremely hard to accomadate for that many people in your home. Its not right to expect for anyone to host this many people at a gaming session which is why this opportunity couldnt have come at a better time.
The 2 main concerns with establishing this as the new saturday night venue seem to be venue fee and location.
-The location is pretty great based on where everyone lives who consistently comes out to Thomas’s house on saturdays. From what ive gathered, most of us are in GC/Summerville, with a couple in monks corner and a couple in n.charleston. This venue is like 15-20 mins away from me/paul/ant/shawn which is fine by me. Unfortunately there a are few people who do live a little further away who i understand wouldnt be able to make it often (none of which are regulars to Thomas’s)
-If you have a job of any kind, 5 dollars is pretty cheap to have a good time enjoying a common hobby with friends. Its a small necessary fee to not only keep our scene alive, but to allow further room for growth. I saw some new faces at the venue ive never seen before. I can understand how hard it is to get over the fact that everything isnt free. But the truth is, it never was free. increased electric bills, gas money, you name it. Gaming at some ones house is never free. Sacrifices are made for the scene so you can game. If you currently cant cough up 5 dollars and your unemployeed for a legitamate reason but want to be part the scene come talk to me at the venue on saturday nights.
The benefits this can have on our scene far outweighs the 5 dollar fee, and the 5-10 mins added to your hike to the session
So far this venue is looking pretty good. They welcome our business with open arms and we both benefit from eachother greatly. Lets learn from our past mistakes and SLOWLY introduce new ideas to our venue such as randbats, tournaments, etc. Lets bog them down with grand ideas too soon.
As long as the owner is cool with us playing there im all for it. Sorry i didnt get there last night. I planned on coming but unexpected chew got on the radar. I agree with paul on the bi-weekly thing as well cuz i know for a fact im not gonna be there every saturday.
Yea, eventually that would be great to have maybe a monthly ranbat
I worked off of bacons Bridge, I know exactly where the store is it is and it is for sure not conveniently located directly off of 26.
I can’t exactly teleport people to the location that’s too far away for those that do not live in Goose Creek and Summerville. Excuse me for trying to have them included as well I’m asking questions to gather more info. If this werent limited to a certain day/time it would be awesome.
Was that the thread where they were wanking it onto anime figurines? You virgins do some weird crap sometimes, like offer to get slapped with baby powder D:
in all seriousness though would you drive to Blackbeard’s Cove in Mount Pleasant every single Saturday and pay to play with people that you just played at your own house for free the day before? Like i said If this is something that wasn’t be limited to Saturdays though, it would be a whole different ball game (arcade revival: console edition, anyone?)
Thomas and I spoke earlier about 1 of my primary concerns and that is the eventual what’s in it for me that the business owner inquires. even when downplaying expectations, I first hand have had to deal with the owners for managers or whomever is in charge asking why there was not as big of a crowd on the fourth go around us there was the first 3. this is after stressing to them that this probably is not going to be something that they can sustain themselves off of.
for what Thomas was telling me this guy actually is interested in the community and not just it’s business. hearing that he has had paper ready at the meeting was very reassuring ( this show self initiative which means he’s not going to default duties to other people that do not work there)

As someone who makes the drive past it everyday to get on 26, yes, it is.
But I guess that’s all opinion.
You’re doing the complaining, but offering no alternative.
And to answer you question, YES, I WOULD DRIVE TO MOUNT PLEASANT ONCE A WEEK TO DO SOMETHING I LOVE.
I have friends, and most of them had cars, and if the gas was just too much for myself, (Also, I know where you live, man, a lot of us go down there every Friday for lunch and shennagins, you don’t live far enough to complain, I have the worst mileage every, go around and ask, and I still haul 4-5 people there and back while asking for no gas in return.) we would just CARPOOL.
Either you don’t want this, or you do.
Stop trying to hit ghosts.
What part of “if this wasnt limited to a specific day and time” did you not understand? The part where it was a possible solution, or the part where it was a possible solution?

Welp, I guess if we’re going to not even attempt to converse like adults anymore, I’ll see you around like I never do.
You will see me Saturday night just make sure you croak as loud in person at me and get whatever this beef you have with me off your.chest
