I don’t really mind customization as long as it is tasteful or cool looking. I actually enjoy it. But, the two kind of customization methods I can not stand the most are bland costumizations or changes that are far too obnoxious or just simply stupid.
On KOFXIII, I customize my characters while still making them seem appealing or decent. Occasionally when I go online, I either end up seeing characters with ridiculous dull color (a Andy colored COMPLETELY bright red) or something stupid (a Kyo with absolutely no matching colors).
Then there’s SFxT which provides us with appalling color editing options, plus a few bad alternate custom designs. That is, the Neon Colors… were simply a bad idea in general (at least for me).
I understand the point of having a sense of humor but… seriously, this is too weird. People just simply get far too carried away sometimes and it is enough to piss others off. (Then again what may be appealing to one person might not be appealing to the next person).
Color customisation needs to be limited to the clothes of people, I’m sick of seeing green-blue colored skinned abominations.
Also only alternate costumes that should be available are the ones that have something that do with the character. Like Kazuya’s Purple-black G-corp outfit. I don’t want a weird cap or something for Kazuya or someone.
I actually like character customization. Its a cool thing about current FG’s. In most cases its not even game changing its just for asthetics. I admit the troll customs are irritating. but those let you know who the trolls are and who the normal players are.
Yeah bad customization needs to go, i think tekkens and sc are both pretty bad.
But then again i’m biased to vf because it’s the only game i can dress my character in there underpants only and shoes and socks
Customization is fun for the most part. There are some really good ones out there in SoulCalibur V. But there are also the needless ‘horse dong on forehead’ edits and the phosphorescent nightmares in SFxT.

I don’t agree with your initial post but if people are going to strip characters of their color, ie: making them all black/black and white/all white then fuck it.

This falls afoul of the “is this discussion interesting for anyone else?” standard. We all have opinions: unless there’s something particularly interesting about it, maybe save it for your blog.
