That’s part of the fun of a team game; characters that wouldn’t normally be viable can be very deadly. Tron would have zero safe approach options if she didn’t have an endless barrage of assists backing her up. With these assists she can rack up a crap load of damage (think 1.1 mil on a meter neutral combo).
picking a high tier character brings sure some fun on the table if you win or barely lose. Untill your opponent who plays with harder to learn players, picks the same high tier character and you get demolished
technical and fast. one of the few games requiring an arcade stick. The slightest jam in movements can cost you.
Dan doesn’t suck, you just didn’t put in enough work with him
I like BB Hood because all her jabs chain into each other. It’s technically possible for me to win on like two buttons. :U
Behold the power of Sako Pokes:

Do you have to input the moves faster as the combo goes on?
Sako is also a top SF4 Cammy player. Guess VS helped.
I like BB Hood too (in fact she was my choice since DS came out) but never had the chance to take that game seriously until now.
Ee-yup. I’ve never actually done it and the only one known to be able to do it regularly is Sako. Because he is Sako.
The guy who made the video used a macro to do it.
i dont think youre losing 3-30 solely on the character you are using. its probably has a lot more to do with skill level. just try and improve as a player and you will win a lot more. even with dan. remove the mindset that youre losing because my character is weak as an excuse. imo just find a top tier thats fun if it would make u happy
I try to find a character that fits my playstyle, which in turn makes the character fun for me. If I’m more of a defensive player that uses Guile or Rose then I’m bound to do better with them than Yun/Yang just because I’m not used to rushing down all day.
qft. This is how I feel every game where the general population makes a big deal about tier lists, but the general population isn’t in top level play. The top tier lists are for top players – for my skill level (beginning out) it doesn’t matter. If there was a beginner’s tier list, most of the characters would be in the same tier, and probably Ryu or Sagat would be #1 lol
playing with a character you like is the only way you’ll ever actually be a decent player. any other motivation will lead to feeling like you’re ‘working’ instead of enjoying practice just for the sake of it. that character is your window into the game. at a certain point it will be less about individual characters and more just practicing the game as a whole. but it takes a lot of time to get there and if you aren’t enjoying the time spent, you’ll never make it.
the poll is not black and white. it’s just which is most important firstly. ‘fun’ is most important since fun can apply to any of the cast. you can find womping people as a high tier character fun. or you might just like a high tier character because you…just like them.
it doesn’t really matter. you just need to have a character you can play with endlessly
Tier lists are highly subjective, and are under the weight of a variety of variables. Matchup knowledge, personal skill level, mental endurance, etc etc. The tier list is really more or less a gauge for an objective analysis of who is stronger than who in comparison to the rest of the cast. But scrubs like to take that and turn it into the Bible for deciding who to main.
There is no such thing as 2 people with equal skill, it doesn’t exist, you can come close, but there’s certainly room for error when determining the “who will win best out of 10” system.
That being said, naturally, there are people who will be stronger than others. That might not be the case at the beginner’s level, but at mid-level and high-level play, someone is ALWAYS going to turn out to be the strongest. These tiers have been a lot more condensed in SF4, Super, and 2012 (fuck AE).
Tier lists should factor into your consideration for picking a main character, only if you want to truly be competitive and win, but it should not be the “decide all” factor.
