Your problem is right here.
Also, there is no widescreen option, this game is a port of a 6 year old unknown arcade game that added virtually nothing but practice and online mode.
And I’m just working on a basic character/team guide and a brief overview of the menus which won’t be out any time soon (AKA not next week) since I am moving cross-country in 2 days.
Also, I think they might have patched the guard bug from the arcade.
I’ve been trying to get Talisman unblockables to work for 2 whole days now and it’s a no-go. Which is fine since with character assists like Nagar/Feena/Bernhard/Evetta, you can create really nasty Marvel-esque assist traps leading to big damage anyways.
The game is always going to have the bezel on the side, even on non-widescreen displays. This game is from 2004 and was made for Taito’s Type X hardware, widescreen wasn’t even an option. The game looks good on CRT, but I’d imagine if you got any sort of sharp display you gonna get cut by some pixels.
People saying they want a guide? What are you all looking for? Like how to jump and shit? Or something that covers whatever mechanics aren’t in SF4? Or you all looking for something more in-depth, like wtf the items do?
And feel free to ask questions. I’m not much of a guide-making kinda person, but I do enjoy giving detailed (or as as much detail as I have) answers to well thought out and specific questions.
BTW, I’ve been slowly hacking away at the SRK wiki. Feel free to contribute. Take what’s up there with some salt. Of what little is up there, I’ve been infering from videos. I getting around to double checking it, now that we can play the game.
edit:
Have you tried it against a live opponent? Maybe it doesn’t work against the training dummy?
Sweet thanks Ghostal, and ya I didnt know how much of a remake it was, so was just checking on the widescreen. In terms of guides just depth i think the surface of the game we can all understand. bnb combos/loops/ etc.
update:ya ghostal ive changed that setting now and had a friend do the same and we cant get a difference so im not sure what you meant by your previous answer.
Yeah I originally tried it in practice mode and it was a wash, so I got my friend to help me test it and sure enough he could block the jump-in afterwards. I tried it with Orc’s super too which apparently also was affected by the guard bug and it was the same deal.
There are some super nasty mixups off of certain assist characters though and even other items, so it’s no big loss for me despite the hype I made for it. Makes the game more interesting with the true unblockable being out, I suppose. Also, I really didn’t realize just HOW much a fucked up character Shining Bow Evetta was until I started playing her. My god.
Also, I can Nsidor infinite consistently now, so you’re all going to die
Yeah I am really just focusing on team synergy, character rundowns and some really scary setups with various items and assists for each character. There’s a lot to this game I feel hasn’t been properly fleshed out, assists being one of them.
Like shit such as this:

Yes you can do this sort of thing with other items, but this way you can actually lend your item slot to something that will better serve your team collectively, and still be spending the same amount of meter for the same amount (sometimes more) of damage.
And I mean by my previous answer that your entire problem revolves around the fact that you are trying to display a game on a 1080p HD monitor that was never remotely designed to run on such. Therefore it is going to look terrible. It’s like playing original ST on a 60" LG flatscreen, it’s gonna look horrendous. This on the other hand does look fantastic on CRTs and smaller res flatscreens.
Lookin at the video at the front of the page this is an old unreleased game right?
Not too many medevil styled fighting games out there. Might have to give this a try when I have the money considering if it’s cheap.
Ok so before I buy these 2 cards, can anyone confirm that you can have the codes emailed? And any help on navigating the purchase process on the psn store (since it’s in Japanese) or do I just have to play around with it and guess.
Here’s a thought-
Now that the game is out can we make a new thread and put all the info in the main post? Including guidelines how to buy PSN cards and get the game, and important tidbits such as the graphics option and the original Ramda sprite.
Yeah, I was thinking about talking to SK about making a new thread. I’d make it and manage the first post, but I don’t want to write any guides. Or you can do it.
So anyways, forward runs apparently will clash with everything (even other runs) that aren’t a low or low hitting move, or a D attack. D attacks seem to be the anti-clash move, I think anything done with the D button can’t clash at all.
I’m more than happy to write guides, I was actually just getting the new thread together, but with doing that and being the one to do writeups for characters/teams/items/etc, it might be a bit too much.
And yeah, that makes sense seeing as how D normals are always melee and not weapon attacks. And yes, forward runs DON’T clash on startup, they clash once the dash has started up and then until you cease your run.
new thread just needs to give an intro to what chaos breaker/dark awake is, how to get the game/psncards/japaccount, and point to resources, like the wiki and videos and stuff
I did it in arcade mode, in the character order select menu, you can toggle items left to right in the character portrait, and replace the character for an item.
On arcade they go in to the game configuration and set it to allow free select. But we don’t seem to have a way to do that on console. I’m hoping it’s maybe an unlock or maybe hold some buttons some where? But probably not. This is a pretty barebones port. The official website has a little form for people to send them back feedback now. So maybe we can write some stuff in Japanese and tell em.
