CFJ is good: Quit overreacting to Jedah, idiots

[quote=inkblot]
Not at all. I supposed I’ll have to break it down for you.

CE & HF: First of all, these games were yearly updates to SF2, compared to CFJ, which is Capcom’s first new fighting game in over two years. Even so, these games offered plenty when you consider that most SF players still hadn’t mastered the ins and outs of SF gameplay.

Please add CE or HF to next years evo line up, if your not going to add Hyper SF2 because its broken.

Don’t know who’s still paying attention, or who cares, but…

Spent a few hours at a-cho today. Got in a lot of great matches. Some random notes…

I think this is going to be a game of counter-characters. DS’ers are pretty buff, but they get brutalized by ST’ers. 3S characters give the ST crew problems. I didn’t see a whole lot of counter character use today but that’s just the feeling I get.

Jedah’s rushdown is VERY vulnerable. Those discs don’t do shit if you hit him…so he either has to throw them out and wait for you to jump into one, or rush and risk getting pounded. He’s got a lot of tricks that are annoying, but you just have to keep smacking him around and he’ll die. He’s got no reliable anti-air (at least that I saw) so it’s just a matter of getting in, smacking him, then waiting for your next opportunity. He’s nowhere NEAR the level of CvS1 Nak’s dominance over the rest of the cast. In fact, I’d say Mukuro is a better character than Jedah just because not only is it harder to get to the bastard, once you do he can still hurt you. Jedah dies to the SF2 cast as well.

Saw lots of Rose’s today. She looks like she’s got some nice tricks.

Yun…poor Yun. Everything he does just feels so ineffective. Some guy tried to use him against me and I squashed him pretty bad.

Except for Mukuro the Warzards are all pretty lonely. I didn’t see any Warzard usage except for Mukuro.

Not a whole lot of 3S’ers (saw some scattered Alex’es and Urien’s, and I used Chun a bit), but I think they can hang, especially with parrying. I think they just need time to develop.

Nobody is even bothering with Sakura.

Azrael, that’s no surprise, practically every recent game ends up being a counter character fest for the most part. Thanks for the info.

Finally got to play CFJ for a while yesterday…I can’t say too much about it, since I have not played a single person yet in this game, only the CPU, since its in a FOB arcade where everyone plays SNK games. Nethertheless, I can have a fairly idea of who’s decent at least…

I can see why noone plays Sakura. standing RH priority is lessened, bnbs dont hurt overall, doesnt have any RC, her HK has does her finisher automatically, no close FB, etc. sho-sho-sho does like 15% chip only, and its much harder to do than in CvS2. She got nerfed hard.

Rose feels alot like A2 Rose. (A2 Rose low strong is back, maybe Sirlin will like this game.) FB seems to push back a bit at startup, just like A2. What’s her CC now, I just did a ghetto slide CC into low rh, low fierce super. Have you seen anything better?

Karin is obviously really good, I have to get used to her since they changed her a bit from her A3 incarnatiion, im not used to her rekkas yet, theyre a bit different from a3. Also, her 360+K hits 8 times before she throws you, and unlike A3, every hit does damage including the throw at the end.

Alex is weird, I have to get used to him. His command throws are faster and he has all 3 supers, but his dashes arent as fluid as 3s.

Guile’s charge time seems a bit faster than it is in CvS2, he plays a bit like his cvs1 incarnation. Bison seems good too, while he doesnt have paint the fence CC all his moves are still buff, damage and priority wise. Ingrid I have no idea how to play yet, only got the chance to try her once. She dosen’t seem to have any long range limbs at ALL. I cant seem to play any kind of foot game with her, but hey, her jfierce has a huge ass hitbox, it crosses up and her jpop song is cool

I cant say much more because I haven’t played it for much time, and not against humans. Another note, 1P game ends as FAST as hell. Like, 3 fights, you get to fight Ingrid by herself, and after 5-6 fights you fight Pyron.

Good post my man. IMHO tho, the jury is still out on Yun. He’s been terribly nerfred I agree, but he’s got enough room in him for someone to come up with something good down the line. If crossup divekicks and mad mixups after his shoulder tackles/You Hou is found, he can be good.

@azrael.

well i dont know how you think the st cast rape ds characters. theyve got damage but lack the tools to apply from my experience since the games release (and ive put in my time).

jedah ive found very hard to fight against with using ryu, gief and bison.

havent tried guile maybe hes got a better chance…?

Only LK launch kick combos off rekkas. It’s safe to do LP/MP->HP in rekkas now, so you don’t need to worry about distancing. For some reason, they gave her a HCF version of the rekkas that doesn’t seem to go as far. So far, it’s been used for whiff meter building. Also, her 360+K, depending on the kick strength does a different amount of knees. HK is the one you’ve seen, LK is the one you’re used to. If you ever play anyone(which I doubt, if this is where I THINK you’re playing it), grin as they try to mash out of the knees EVERY TIME. She doesn’t have the knee bash throw anymore.

As for alex, yes, everything hits differently/faster, except for flash elbow(WTF, Gief can Lariat/SPD on recation), and his aerials are a lot more solid.

From what I hear, it is already in SJ, at San Jose State University to be exact.

I think it’s the one on bowery street?

What the hell would Rose do for a CC anyway?

Anyone? I want to use Felicia / Rose.

:frowning:

Don’t take anyones opinions on board, according to most of these ‘experts’, MvC2 was supposed to be the most balanced game ever, X-ism in SFA3 was supposed to be the strongest, and 3S was just a broken piece of shit no-one would ever play.

well 2 out of 3 isn’t bad, A3 didn’t work out so well

From what I’ve seen so far, Jedah and Felicia are kinda rushdown dependant. But their rushes are vulnerable, so the ST cast can hurt them. I played a lot of Jedah today…at first I was using Chun, and getting killed. Then I switched to Ryu and just wrecked Jedah. SRK works great against jumpy Jedah’s, and even beats the few pokes he’s got. Air hurricane was good for catching up to him. Ground worked well too. Then when I had meter…haha don’t jump at me.

Gief…Jedah doesn’t have good anti-air, so when the big Russian takes to the sky, Jedah had to eat it. Then you’ve got Gief next to someone, and it’s pretty much “So, what kind of power slam would you like now?” Felicia put up a better fight here because she had the better anti-air. But they both had problems with the lariat, which looks to be pretty abuseable now.

Bison can use his scissor kicks and psycho crusher to get in. And his air attacks are pretty buff.

Guile’s just…Guile. You can’t get to him, and when you do you eat an overprioritized normal or Flash Kick. It is shades of CvS1. But this isn’t DS-specific, Guile’s strong overall and I still pick him as one of my top 4 of the game so far.

From what I saw in the betas, Anarkis could deal with all of this easily, but I still have yet to see someone use him now. Demitri does have a decent keep away game, so I guess it just depends on the situation. But today, not just in the games I played, the ST cast did the best against the DSers.

Alex is buff. Especially with someone who knows how to parry. The guy I fought against, he was really good at getting in and hitting some kind of grab/super on me. I found myself having to run away from him a lot.

I think Chun can be good, but so far I haven’t found any good combos. So it’s pretty much just eat away at their lifebar until you can hit a super. I think her effectiveness will be determined by how easy it’ll be to land SAII (we can’t really call it that, can we?) on people. So far though she can play a decent high/low/close game…not great, but decent. I want to put some more time in with her.

I dunno why, I had problems connecting Karin’s rekkas today. I guess because only LK connects, and I think it’s the same for the palm strike finisher (only LP will connect). That’s going to take some getting used to. She still has great pokes, j.LK still gives people lots of problems, and her standing FP still has a wonderful hitbox.

I haven’t seen any fancy CC’s yet. So far “Mash on something, then super if possible” works really well, so maybe we’ll be playing by A2 CC rules. I tried playing around with Karin a bit but I couldn’t find anything better than jamming on FK.

If I remember correctly, didn’t people say 3s was broken when it first came out because "Akuma is way overpowered?

That’s a really funny statement in retrospect

Thanks to Art and Az for still putting some info up as well as everyone else.

And I still hav eto say that Anak > Jedah lol

A Q about Anak though. His backdash through the corner… is that ONLY in the corner or just anytime you’re at the end of the screen?

Magic hands!!!

wowzers go jay!!!

played it on sunday, think its great. ingrid is going to become a beast.

Yeah ingrid looks quite danerous(cross ups, tech etc),anyhow the game comes out in exactly 16 days from today cannot wait.

(Sup jay)

From what I’ve read so far, this will be like a “pick the character that counters the opponets character” type of game; Some characters will have a hard time fighting Jeda, while others might be able to rape his @ss. This might work considering you have two character choices on the team. Jeda remindes me of GGXX’s Eddy. Godly, but beatable by characters that can keep him away.

but, jedah dies to rushdown faster than eddie

I haven’t played CFJ, but since DS2 in every game he’s been in its corner only.

I’ve barely played this game, but it has two visible kisses of death so far:

If Hauzer hits buttons or moves the joystick vs Anakaris he dies.

There are only two colors per character. Bison’s alt color is green and purple.
