If it still says that the board is unknown, try switching the data lines(D+ and D-) and see what it says. If the problem persists, posting a picture would allow us to better help you. It sounds like the board is being powered so you either messed up the wiring somewhere or there is a problem at the source.

Go on that link, take notes or print out that page. It Shows what wire colors are for what.
If you are getting power than your +5 volt (Red) and Ground (Black) wires are fine.
More more than likely got the Green and White Wires mixed up
It looks like all the wires should be in all the way and I actually got the xbox light to turn on and stay on but I was trying to make sure everything was correct and now the light only flashes instead of staying on. My computer still said unknown device no matter what I did. Iām pretty sure the cerberus pcb is being seated properly as well.
Pictures if you can, but make sure that you can see the wire colors in the little windows on the connectors. Worst case you can actually strip the ends of the wires you just need to be really careful not to short them to each other. At a guess one or more of the wires is simply not in all the way. Itās more finicky than you think so maybe undo it, cut off the ends and start fresh, thatās what I would do.
I got it working. I stripped the cable again and fed the wires. It now gets recognized and shows up at Cerberus 1.01.
Edit: For some reason I canāt get the xbox passthrough to work now. But I am glad it somewhat works now.
Edit2:Never mind. I figured out that I can switch the setting on the board and itāll work.
So, after a LONG time I decided to try this again; The cables are right and the mount is OK; when I connect to the pc it recognizes the controller and it says cerberus 1.01ā¦ However, when I try to connect using the xbox 360 forced passtrough or the bootloader mode it says that itās not recognizedā¦ Any solutions? (Dunno if this helps, but all the buttons work when I test the controller on the pc; It recognizes all of itā¦ However my xbox doesnāt recognize it so the light flashes one time and nothing happens afterwards )
I have the same problem and no Xbox to test on.
For your PC to recognize the Cerberus in Bootloader mode, Iām pretty sure you need to have the Atmel driver loaded (installed when you install the Atmel FLIP utility). Likewise, depending on your version of Windows, you may need to install the XBox 360 Controller for Windows driver. So, if your PC reads the Cerberus board OK, and it also works on the 360, you may need to make sure that the controller driver is properly installed. People running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 seem to have the most problems. Even I had to mess around with it some to get it working on my remaining Win 7 machine.
If it doesnāt work on the 360, you may need to make sure that the wires are properly seated in the connectors, and that the Cerberus is properly seated in the XBox PCB. I personally had to wire tie the left side of the boards to get a good connection between them.
So I stripped a little off the middle of the wires where they meet with the wire prongs underneath. got it working right. Apparently the teeth werenāt cutting through the sheath or what you call it. Also I found popping the clips a little higher made them easier to place the wires and see what I was doing. Cool little thing.
Hey, I modded an SCV stick a few months ago with a piggybacked Cerberus, and while I havenāt had any issues with the stick being recognized, I did have a few issues with my lever not reading diagonals. After switching it out for an old Sanwa (and noticing the difference) a few days, I tried playing the Raiden III PS2 Classics port on my PS3 only to find it didnāt work - it never registered either stick movements or button presses as being held down. Those issues only happen when playing PS2/PSX Classics, but I later noticed that my Start, Back, and Xbox buttons no longer worked, something that stayed constant across everything I tested the stick on (PS3. X360, both methods of PC use). The rings still light up around the Xbox button, though.
I tried opening up the stick and couldnāt find any unseated connections (I pressed a few in for good measure), but I also tried plugging in the old lever to no avail. Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance.
Can you clarify on the issue just so I understand it 100%?
The classic port on PS3 issue, if itās only happening on that itās likely caused by the goofy firmware update that seems to have wrecked some inputs on emulated classics (thereās a thread on it in tech talk).
Does the input issue for directionals and buttons happen on the other systems, and this includes PC in PC/PS3 mode (it will come up as cerberus, check the controller app to verify the signals registering)?
As to the control button issue (start, back, home) is your lock switch set to unlock?
This? Thatās a shame. ;_;
It was something that only happened rarely with the old lever, and hasnāt happened since I replaced it, so I canāt really reproduce the issue (not that I want to). I remember it happening on both my 360 and PC (not sure what mode it was in for the latter), but I donāt know much more than that other than it stopped happening for a few weeks after taking apart the lever and putting it back together.
ā¦ Ahaha wow Iām dumb. Yeah, thatās entirely it. I canāt believe I forgot that the Lock switch was kind of made to do that exact thing. Thank you.
I just finished a stick build using a Madcatz fightpad and a non-connector Cerberus. Everything works fine on Xbox except the Start+Select=Home/Guide function. Start and select both work fine by themselves. I donāt have a dedicated home button and I didnāt implement one in my build so Iād really like to get the S+S=H function to work. Any ideas? I also havenāt tested the stick on a PS3 yet but I hope to later this afternoon.
S+S=H function will work for the Cerberus/ PS3 side, not the Xbox 360 side.
There is a circuit you can build to do this, but I donāt have a link for you how it is done.
Iām probably wrong
Okay that was the circuit I was thinking of, I never actually needed to make one so I did forget how it was done.
Thanks for the post.
S+S=H works for both. The 360 side is hard to test as it uses the same ~1/3 second delay timing, but simply hold for that time and release, itāll pop up.
If you are on 360 and just hold it the menu will pop too of course to test.
Darksakul, Blackraen, thanks a million for the quick response! I love this community.
Hmmm, I canāt seem to get it to pop up. Iāve read that you can disable the s+s=h feature by pressing a dedicated home button. I donāt have one but wondered if my s+s=h feature was already disabled somehow.
Phreakaziod, when playing on the Xbox, do I have to hold it down for a 1/3 of a second? Iāll try again later.
On 360, just hold it down for like 2 full seconds and the main āshut down systemā menu will come up.
The 1/3s timing is kind of hard to hit, just give it a quick hold/press and release. Again, this is hella easier on the system itself than sayā¦ on PC. The disable wonāt happen without a dedicated button press, if you donāt have one it shouldnāt be disabled at all.
