Captain Britain and MI13

Yeah but…Brian (Captain Britain) isn’t a mutant right? If anything he was added, mainly because EXcalibur would use European characters, and decided to use Brian as a front for the team and book. His wife is a Mutant, and the team consisted of Mutants, but Brian, from what info I had read so far is not a mutant, his powers are magical aren’t they?
Just because he was the leader of a team of mutants, doesn’t mean that if he gets a new team or book immediatley makes it an X-Book :stuck_out_tongue:

First off, Logan isn’t it, 2ndly the stories do not revolve around Mutants as the main characters, 3rdly Wisdom is the only mutant on the team ATM, which brings this up: Is the Avengers now an X-Book, because Logan is in it?
If the team was made up mostly of Mutants, despite their ethincy, then yeah this WOULD be an X-book, BUT most of the members of the team are from Britain/UK, heck even Blade was said to be of British decent (his vampire father was from Britain) and Wisdom is ATM the ONLY mutant on the team.
So scoreboard-
Mutants: Wisdom
Vampires: Spitfire, Blade
Humans: Brian, Faiza :lovin:, Black Knight
Also notice how everything takes place in Britain, hence giving the idea that this is a British superhero team, much like how Alpha Flight was a Canadian team (though did the AF team have all their adventures in Canada?). They might have some stories taking place outside Britain, but in the end they are a British super hero team.

Well, Doom does limit what he wants his people to know of the world, but eh its Hudlin :stuck_out_tongue: Then again T’challa almost owned Doom, so that’s a plus

If what I replied with seemed like blasting, I apologize, but I was really disappointed when he called it an X-Book, it’s like someone saying that DeadPool isn’t an X-book, i.e. getting the incorrect idea.

I LOVE The Goon!

Tizoc - LOL most pointless argument ever. Do you have a sarcasm meter, I think it’s hella broken man you should get that looked at.

By the way, picked up the first TPB that covers the first four issues. Hmm, let’s see…

Excalibur = Former X-Book. Follow the dancing ball!

Sieg Perilous - Major factor in Excalibur
Alistair Stuart - Major character in Excalibur

On top of that, open the TPB and lo and behold - They freaking advertise the first 5 Excalibur TPBs! And Moore’s Captain Britain TPB with art from Excalibur’s writer, Alan Davis too.

I’m right? You’re right? Who gives a flying… THE WRITER OF CAPTAIN BRITAIN MI 13 JUST TOLD YOU TO GO READ EXCALIBUR SO GO DO IT! What, that’s just an ad? Nope. There’s an interview in the TPB which can be summed up as Cornell kissing Moore’s, Davis’ and Claremont’s (early Excalibur writer) collective behinds. :looney: Oh and listen to a Beatles CD while you’re at it. And stuff. Filler…

It’s not so much a case of “Captain Britain is in it and they are in Britain, they have to reference this stuff” because no, the writer doesn’t have to reference the past if he does not want to. At all. See a whopping 90% (generous estimate, it’s most likely a lot higher) of Marvel books on the stands right now and see how much they care about the past or bother to even mention it. It’s to the writer’s credit that he does reference older stories, but by current Marvel standards he doesn’t have to really.

In all seriousness, you are getting hung up on a title that I gave it, in a joking manner? I’m pretty sure the writer would not care if you classified this book as an X-Book because those things actually sell and this book is struggling, it was almost cancelled until online support kept it going. Bottom line what I’m trying to say is that a lot of things in this book which you think are great are grounded in lots of older books you should look into. The end.

**TL;DR Version - YOU’RE RIGHT I’M WRONG! If this will get you to read Excalibur and maybe watch Yellow Submarine then I cave for the greater good. ** :looney:

Before I start, know that I mean no hate or grudge against you should any of my posts give such a vibe.

I tend to sometimes never notice sarcasim in posts actually, so my meter’s been broken for a looooooooooooong time.

Umm so? Those TPBs feature Captain Britains earliest adventures, did they happen to mention if there is also Essential Captain Britain Vol. 1 or did they not release that book yet?
I’ll comment on those 2 ‘factors’ after I reread the TPB, because if anything they are allusions to his time with EXcalibur, much like how Annihilation Conquest alludes to the first Mighty Avengers arc.

Umm OK, I plan to do that eventually, cool, classic 80s adventures of Captain Britain and his mutant sidekicks, FUCK YEAH!:wgrin:

A lot of writers give thanks and praise to previous writers of Marvel or DC comics in additional stuff in TPBs, don’t see how that has to do with this series even being remotely an X-Book.

Tried to listen to a song, but I got less interested and decided to listen to Iron Maiden :br:

Actually I believe the writer did say that the book wasn’t struggling too much and wasn’t getting canceled. Maybe it has to do with how well its doing in UK?
There are other Marvel series that are great, even with what look like low sales (Nova, Ghost Rider for example)
I will agree that treating this as an X-Book might interest some readers to pick it up, but then it’d be misleading, since this has nothing to do with the X-Men at all.

I understand that, Grant Morrison used concepts from the older JL stories in his JL run, and maybe even the writer, Cornell, used concepts from the EXcalibur book here, but that doesn’t mean this series is an X-Book, since the main characters aren’t all Mutants (again, Wisdom is ATM the only mutant in the team)

**TL;DR Version - YOU’RE RIGHT I’M WRONG! If this will get you to read Excalibur and maybe watch Yellow Submarine then I cave for the greater good. ** :looney:

Can I hold your work briefcase plz? ;3

Blah blah blah did you watch Yellow Submarine yet?

Now that, my good sir is extremely rude, I go to the trouble of attempting to explain to you the way you misinterpret this series as something it is not, and you dismiss it as meaningless babble.
I have listened to your song, and found it catchy, yet I am greatly disgusted by your immature and ridiculous act. Consider yourslef no longer a member of the Duct Tape Worshipers until further notice :coffee:

OK, you’re a worshiper again, but seriously though, DeadPool is an X-Book, Captain Britain and MI13 is NOT an X-Book, its like the Avengers & Justice League comic book series, only with the main and majority of the cast being british.
