Newsflash: Capcom doesn’t have a “fighting game division”, and haven’t for a long time. Sengoku Basara X was developed by Arc System Works, Fate:Unlimited Codes, TvC and MvC3 were developed by Eighting, SF4 and SFxT were developed by Dimps, and pretty much all of their ports/rereleases of older fighting games in recent years have been handled by companies like Backbone and Iron Galaxy.

Are there many people willing to take on another 2D fighter at the moment? The only way I can see this not being a bad idea is if it was something that would replace something already established that people would move over to without much complaining, a new Marvel 3 variant, SFV etc. Anything else sounds like a bad idea right now, even Darkstalkers.

I can see room for another 2D fighter, if it isn’t another super long chain-combo game. I know a bunch of people that would like a game like Street Fighter, that isn’t Street Fighter. But instead they make Darkstalkers.

The first two Darkstalkers games were actually pretty Street Fighter-ish, despite having chain combos. And even Savior didn’t have long combos.
