Well the guy said he was a scrub so whatever. I mean for Ken he basically just listed that they can do HP shoryu FADC times 2 and connect another shoryu like the last game or whatever.

Just saying that this is exactly the reason we should be ignoring everything he said about Guile.
The other Guile player was an actual Guile player. I’m thinking his word is more absolute than the EventHubs saying of “it seems nothing has changed”
Yeah for the scrub off of eventhubs it would seem nothing has changed because he doesn’t even know what a hit box is.
Seems that one of our worst match-ups, Ryu, is in trouble, and I feel kinda bad about it (I play Ryu for fun and believe he’s the best chars in game in terms of gameplay fluidity)
No more SRK trades to Ultra, HP SRK as AA only connects for 50hp and no more fireball fishing for Super. Those are the tools that made him High Tier as they gave him insane comeback potential.
Am I the only one who thinks that’s a bit much nerfing for Ryu?! They should have lowered his Ultra damage output a bit and maybe tweak thing here and there (prevent mashing SRK during blockstrings, perhaps) but this just seems like a big handicap.
I don’t feel bad for Sagat though…fuck Sagat
No because Ryu didn’t need that to be good in Super Turbo. They should do things like buff his f+HP or give him more tools for closing the gap instead of focusing him on landing near 500 damage off of shoryus that are invincible for obviously too damned long. Not to mention getting that same benefit with no meter if you trade with the opponent at any point in the air. Ryu still has basically the best footsies the game has to offer so far along with Rog and in the end it’s the footsies that really make Ryu strong. He still has the best super the game has to offer for fireball wars, footsies, anti air and just about anything else that the game has to offer. If super bar does build up quicker like the rumors are saying he’ll just get his GDLK super that much quicker.
I mean at high level play where Ryu can actually play to his true potential he can basically get untechable knockdowns and big stun off of any real combo he connects. Watching Daigo play Ryu at Season Beatings against Justin Wong and others was just a huge testament to how Ryu still has so much going for him even with those nerfs. It’s just people wouldn’t put it to use or do so as often cuz they’re worried about playing shoryu fighter IV.
Ryu isn’t in trouble…it’s just people will have to actually use the things that make him interesting now that actually require some fucking execution and general knowledge of his spacing and footsies. That’s what really put him above the rest. Not SRK trades to ultra or auto correct shoryus. That’s just unnecessary advantages for playing a solid character and reduces the need to play Ryu intelligently. It was really sad to see Ryu turn into such a risk free character that was not reminiscent of the days where Ryu was powerful because he was making the right decisions with moves that were extremely risky at perfectly calculated points at high level. The fact that I won’t have to respect scrub ass Ryu players anymore and just thrash them like the scrubs they are makes me super duper happy after a year of having to deal with their risk free holding onto safe shoryu bullshit. Not to mention it’ll make high level Ryu that much more interesting to watch when you know he’s going to be taking more risks and calculated maneuvers like the Ryu of old.
You actually should technically feel more bad for Sagat because he got nerfed harder than Ryu did. Though that’s because he was just a tad better than Ryu was overall either way. Sagat IMO will still be very competitive either way and I’ll still secondary him.
The only thing that made Ryu unmanageable was his Ultra bullshit, and that’s been taken away. The only thing that made Sagat unmanageable was his retarded damage, and that has been taken away. I don’t feel sorry for anyone who plays them because good players will still win and bad ones won’t anymore.
True but the Super benefit from SF4 Vanilla is gone. It’s not GDLK anyore. Currently, you don’t leave the ground if Ryu has Super. You don’t even neutral jump fireballs.
Yes, it’s still a great Super and it still will do a good amount of damage but it can’t be baited into like only decent players have been doing so far.
I always liked Ryu and he’s one of the reasons why i went with Guile; I enjoy zoning and footsies and using my brain to play. Ryu used to be this until Sf4. But when I saw all the tools they game him in SF4, I stepped away and went with Guile.
Sagat, on the other hand, I never remotely liked as he has so many damaging tools, silly moves that stuff almost everything, fireball recovery that’s stupid fast, safe attacks…you name it. maybe I’m also sick of chasing someone who can dish out so much shit yet still runs away and throws Tigers all day long (I know…silly coming from a “Sonic Boom, Jab, Jab, Sonic Boom, Jab, Jab, Sonic Boom, Jab, Jab” Guile player)
But you and Opinionhaver are both right. We should see more technical play coming from Ryu’s and Sagats now which can only be a good thing.
The 3S roster and the new chars are the ones that took over the BS, it seems.
Far from the only one, but Dudley scares the living shit out of me, not to mention Ibuki and sick-as-shit Juri…fuck…now I’m just naggin’
That’s why we’ll see SSFIV Turbo in the future to balance them out, maybe.
You also forgot that Ryu’s super basically allows him to do like 400+ damage if he touches you with a c.LP. That’s huge for pressure as well. What made Ryu strong in ST with his super was not just using it but simply holding onto it to limit the options of the opponent. Ryu’s super was still very GDLK without all those cheap super cancelling techniques that keep Rufus from moving an inch and all of that. Now he’ll have more reason to use it once he actually gets in with BnB’s and will still be able to use it for AA and fireball cancelling purposes just like he did in ST. It’s still and will always be the best super in the game with or without the nerfs. It does everything. It combos off a breath of fresh air, it slices through fireballs, it anti airs it still does all of the shit that it did in ST and has invincibility frames on start up and is completely safe on block. Now Ryu will have more reason to use it offensively instead of mostly using it to slow the game to a halt.
People don’t realize how stupid good Ryu’s super is especially since it is mostly reminiscent of the GDLK one he had in ST. Everyone just sees shoryu FADC and trade this all day and don’t remember that with a little bit of thought Ryu’s super fucks all kinds of shit up.
3S Ryu SAIII is so damn fun to play. That’s my favorite Ryu ever.
hai gueyz, why isn’t guile gett crossup flashckik for SSF4? i’m switching mains to blenka…
I think it’s quite possible that he’ll get a crossup flashkick in SSFIV. Everyone else has free ways out of crossups, so why can’t Guile? I mean doesn’t Juri have a free way out of crossups?

Guile does have an anti-cross up flash kick, you just auto-correct it. Certain things it’s not very reliable on like tatsups but otherwise it’ll stuff a cross up. Rarely, you’ll be sent to far and you go underneath them and whiff.

the only super that’s even close is honda’s. dudley’s is looking very useful too.
oh and eventhubs just translated the stuff that was on the french forums. i trust the guy who mains guile and says sonic hurricane is good and that his c.mp links much easier. he would know.
the ultra alone has improved guile, no doubt about it. after seeing it in action properly, i’m 100% convinced. anything else on top of that is just extra goodies.
hell, just watch the hakan v guile match from a couple of pages back. guile manages to land the ultra 3 times and have it safely blocked another 3 times, plus the fact one of them is set up with an awesome bazooka knee bait. when his opponent tries to counter ultra after blocked hurricane, guile’s already recovered and jumps away. just think…with enough focus absorbing and generally playing lame, we’re going to be able to get 2 of these hurricane’s in a round reasonably often.
dude he is playing guile right now
Did…did I just see Sonic Hurricane move forward a little?
I hope I didn’t look like that when I first switched to Guile lolol. cr. hk, cr. hk, cr. hk, cr. hk, cr. hk
