So NeoGeo Battle Coliseum was not a failure? Or is SNK just stupid. ''Cause I mean if SNK can release NeoGeo Battle Coliseum for the XBLA, then why can’t Capcom release Capcom Fighting Evolution?
CFJ isn’t bad at all, its just stale. The game is remarkably well balanced even for a such a cut and paste job with the game systems. I love it but I will be the first to admit that it gets boring pretty quick. Its fun to mess with some of the Red Earth guys tho.
Capcom and SNK aren’t the same company. One company remained successful while the other filed bankruptcy and had to be bought by playmore to stay in business then released a crappy half completed sequel to one of their games “to make a quick buck.” Yeah I’d totally look at SNK as smart business wise…
SFIV anyone?
Yeah cause the sales of SFIV totally equal KoF12 and the same number of people are playing SFIV as KoF12 at this moment. Think whatever you want about SFIV, but it sure made capcom alot of money. In the end thats what it all boils down to, hence why I believe that Capcom won’t be putting CFE on to live or psn. If I’m wrong, oh well. This is just the educated guess that I came to after looking at the facts.
Fuck your sales. The game was half assed and wasn’t finished. SSFIV looks to be finished to a degree and I hope it is.
Vanilla SF4 was just something for the retards to eat up while they made SSFIV to be the real game.
Call a spade a fucking spade.
You keep derailing this thread. I tried to bring it back on topic, but you keep spouting your opinion about sf4. If you want to discuss the completion of sf4 make a thread about it. Though I’m sure it would be deleted or locked since that has been debated to death. I’m trying to look at the figures from a non-biased view. If something makes alot of money then it is successful, end of story. I don’t know what economics class you went to, but thats the truth. If something didn’t make alot of money when it was released (CFE), I don’t see a reason why a company would put more money into it to port it to psn/xbl so that they will most probably lose more money. Citing another company that tends to make bad business decisions (SNK-Playmore) as evidence against my point, is moot.
Fuck your false sense of righteousness. This thread was already fucked up before I said anything.
SFVI wasn’t finished. End of story. If it was, why is SSFIV coming out? And why is the core engine not being changed at all? Ono said that himself.
Something that’s incomplete can be successful depending on the source material at hand. SFIV was going to sell off the name alone over here.
I’m done. Continue to circle jerk over vanilla 4 and derail the thread even further.
Im still waiting for someone ecucated on the matters at hand to explain point by point how CFE was played at a high level, what were the dominant mechanics, and what about it ultimately led to it being garbage and or abandoned. Hopefully somone like UltraDavid can clarify…
I’m gonna try and remember stuff that people thought was pretty dumb.
Darkstalkers characters’ innate system mechanics made them really strong against the rest of the cast, despite their lower health.
Karin’s VC was just mash roundhouse. Reset with forward+MK if they’re blocking low, or if they block high do cr. lk or something and repeat mashing roundhouse. All the other characters’ VCs were ok to bad, and weren’t as easymode as Karin’s.
3s characters were pretty underwhelming with their tonedowns, not enough damage outside of using hella supers which were hard to build up unless you had another character be a battery at first. Parries were not as bad as CvS2, but still worse than 3s, which is ok.
I can’t remember anything about the warzard cast outside of Kenji being boss, lol. I think most people used Kenji or Leo, and the occasional other two.
I think all the ST characters were really good.
But yeah, that’s all I can remember. To sum it all up, I could just say that the game pretty much bought nothing new to the table, so people dismissed it after SBO. It was probably the only reason that game was alive for any length of time.
Guy had the same one.
I actually believe Leo is considered the best warzard characters and higher up in the tiers. The warzard characters have ultimate guard which i think is fierce+roundhouse and it allows you to block anything without taking damage. Its hilarious to get hit by multihit supers with it.
The game is like…a boring CvS2. It had some nice characters in it but not enough to keep the game interesting very long. Its not broken, bad, or complete trash or anything…just boring.
This. I got it for my birthday last year and I was really into it for a
bit, but after awhile, it just got kinda dull. The team mode is okay, but kinda lame if you’ve played any of the Vs. games that allow tagging, and overall, it just looks, feels and even sounds pasted together. You can tell they didn’t spend a lot of time on it, and when it’s that obvious, it doesn’t make you want to spend lots of time on it.
Still, it is fun to break out when you have a few people over and
you’ve got a few drinks in you.
i like this game a lot @______@
I don’t understand the point of a re-release. I KNOW you have a PS2, and if you don’t have a PS2 stick you need to get one. Just go get it used at Gamestop for like $5.
All of the bad things that are universally agreed upon made me not play this game. It’s the ONLY Capcom game I traded in.
Graphics, music, boring.
Yeah CFE/CFJ wasn’t too bad, I just wish Capcom spent more time working out the kinks
gotta love Shinkiro’s artstyle though, George Clooney!
Yes, a re-release of a game where Ryu fights a giant chicken/dinosaur monster is more important than Vampire Savior, Rival Schools, JoJo’S Bizarre Adventure, Cyberbots, and the VS series.
Seriously Capcom Fighting Jam is garbage. If you question why it’s bad, just look at it and then tell me that this isn’t on par with some half-assed Mugen project:

Soh has even more vids of this on his channel.
I think you guys are being way too hard on this game, it was fun and I thought the concept was fantastic, for everyone who mains vampire/ST/alpha could actually come together and play a fighting game that everyone can enjoy, I got the idea about having 2 characters per fight aswell.
I think it died because of the amount of characters that were in it to be honest, if there were at the very least ten more characters it wouldnt of died.
add 12 or so characters and release it online with an innovative emphasize on online coop and you’d have a winner
This is a pretty fair post. The game wasn’t bad, but it just got boring fast because the game was just a shameless copy paste of previous Capcom games. Capcom really outdid themselves in terms of laziness with this game. CFJ just screamed that Capcom really didn’t give a shit anymore. Frankly I’m surprised SFIV did as well as it did after CFJ tanked.
I think CFJ is one of Capcom’s most balanced FGs to date; too bad the game is boring.
Still, watching Tokido’s Jedah was like watching Jesus ice skate on water while playing a harp: simply beautiful.
