Re: Re: Re: Hey Thanks
Fifty Comics, A Month! I can’t believe that. With my schedule I can’t even fathom buying 1/3 of that much! I struggle to find time to read the two I buy now. I envy you.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Hey Thanks
Thanks.
And no, I dont resell my comics. I like building onto my collection.
But hey, I got more comics off eBay yesturday. I got 23 issues from the Kelley Jones run on Batman. I have never seen the Dark Knight look so… dark. Kelley Jones always gives his books a gothic edge. He rules too.
Wow, that stuff is really cool. We’re really getting spoiled here with all these artists showing up on this forum and putting their thoughts in writing for us. If you don’t mind, can i post some of that stuff as “promotional artwork” on my little ghetto SF Comic site? (URL -> http://www.lowfierce.com/sfcmedia)
15-20 comics isn’t too much.
My brother buys the same, sometimes more depending on the day. He goes Thursdays (here they come out Thursdays) and he buys mine for me.
Darn, he must have got like 38 comics yesterday!!! Like 6-8 of those are mine…I don’t pay for them yet (I spend mine on games…)
The most ever spent from me at a comic shop (and first time) was a whopping, kick in the face (for a 17 year old) 94 or so. My brother was gonna pay, but his card failed to work, so I paid, but did get my money back (apart from my comics).
And guess why it was so much? Blame the variants. It was like #1 Red Foil, #3 Power Foil, Megaman #1 Foil, Battle of the Planets #1 Foil and then loads more standard priced comics.
The Red Foil cost me like 6.50!! More than the #1 Power Foil that is 5.50 (more now, but when it first came out it was 5.50)
Anyway, some rich dudes by like 50+ comics. One guy who I was told about used to buy them every week, now he stocks them up, and a month later he buys all those who reserved, then he waits another month. Now that seriously is harsh since you pay such a big amount in one go.
Hell yea dude. Im on this comic book forum adn this one girl there buys (literaly) 1/2 of every wendsdays comic listing. That has to be in the hundreds dude. I dont know how she does it. She must be one rich chick.
But she’s really cool too. She’s from England. I tend to liek a lot of people who post form England. They are (usualy) very nice.
i too don’t think that 15-20 comics are alot, i started getting “batman beyond” back in 2001 and then “ultimate x-men #1” came out, which got me hooked.
but it is marvels fault primarily that my comic count is about 20, they release so many comics for the same character/team. i mean spider-man has about 3-4 mainsteam comics and you have to get most of them if you want to keep up with ole spidey or all of them if u are a spider-man. dc aren’t any better, superman and batman having about 3 main titles each and also havin superman/batman (which is actually pretty sweet). and variant covers seem to eat up a lot of cash but thats not udon’s, they just want to present more choice and its a decision a reader/collector makes if they wanna buy every single one of them.
comics are great though. i get bored easy when reading books and novels as i can’t picture what happens when i read. the gd thing with comics is that its given and with artistic talent risin every day, especially with mark brroks, alvin lee, long vo, jim lee, adam kubert and salvador larroca, they r pretty enjoyable
That happens exactly because you dont read enough.
I get all the Spidey titles now. Ult.Spidey having priority. Damn, can’t wait for #62. I wanna see what the finished Carnage is like.
I recently read #1 of Mary Jane (the comic) and…err…it could have been much better.
Have you guys read Crimson? That series was fantastic. I missed a couple issues since my brother didn’t buy them all, but it was great.
By the way, I’m from England…I’m not nice (you said usually though so oh well). Just kidding, I’m nice…
Devil May Cry was fairly pricey. I have all 4 covers (2 of cover 1 since 1 was faulty) but darn it was worth it. Yes, I even have the Michael Turner cover. The nice and rare cover.
AHH! Mark Brooks! AAAHH!! sooo cool to see you on this board!
Anyways, great stuff, dude, you should launch a sketchbook…that would be great inspiration for all us artists out there i bet!
Also, show us more!
And one more thing… can anyone provide a link to Mark’s Deviant art please! that would be great…thanks
The only Ultimate stuff I read was the Ultimate Venom story arc in USM. I didnt really like it. It was alright, I just didint like the new Venom story. Thought the original was better. Mary Jane just didnt peak my interest at all.
Here is the link for Mark Brook’s deviantART gallery, as someone had asked for it earlier:
Some very inspiring stuff for up and coming artists, even a little bit of Street Fighter. Only one problem with it though: needs more!!

Man, when I first heard of this Mark Brooks, I was like “Who the heck is this guy? Is it some regular dude showing fan art or some actual comic book dude” and then after I looked through my Marvel Ages SPider-Man #4 I noticed MBrooks…and I was like “Hmm I remember that name” so I looked inside and boom! I was like “OHHHH THIS IS MARK BROOKS!”
All I gotta say is you are GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDD!!!
I love your art in that comic, very nice. Sometimes I feel Peter is a bit big and defined and old, but usually it’s amazing.
And damn, you did that #8 Cover A. I got 2 of those reserved cause it was really cool and had Fei Long on it. Man you are good.
I so wouldn’t wanna show my stuff now. Real bad…I only have one image where most people liked it.
Holy crap this is awesome stuff
Just browsing through your deviantart is freaking amazing
Thanks for taking the time to post here on our savage little board!
