Canton OH: Go easy on us

GS, I should be registered in about a week.

@uvolt: are your friends coming up a day or two early? I’d love to get some matches in with people from out of state.

@everyone: hope to see all of you out tomorrow night. We had a pretty small crowd last week.

So Fight Club is still today. im not sure due to labor day but it prolly is today.

Assuming Perkins is open tonight, I’ll be there. If they aren’t, I can have a few ppl over at my place. See y’all tonight either way!

Yeah they are open, ill be there and hopefully the rest of you all make it out too.

Good shit tonight. Dudley’s bad Match ups are the same as T hawk’s

Kyle, VP Politoed on steam.

Yo gg’s last night folks. As always it was fun, and I definitely feel as if that Chun matchup is progressing nicely for me. It’s still a nightmare though, and the salt levels were definitely increasing at a certain point last night lol. Seeing as how SB is right around the corner, I’d like to propose a few ideas that I feel will maximize the potential of these sessions.

  1. More rotation - I literally played the same person all night, and saw that most everyone was playing the same person all night as well. While this can be a good thing sometimes (especially in the case of practicing bad matchups), we should still try to play as many people as possible before SB. Maybe do FT5 or 10 on each station then the loser leaves and goes to another station.

  2. More critiquing/taking criticism - The best judge of one’s playstyle is never themselves while they are playing. I’ve always found that when someone else that is knowledgable about the game gives me tips, or tells me what NOT to do, it’s always for the better. If you feel like you have a valid, educated point, whether its on a specific matchup note or just an observation of someone’s general gameplay, you should let it be known. On the other side of things, the person receiving the criticism should take the information and apply it. I know how it is in fighting games, no one likes to be told they are doing something stupid, especially if that stupid thing works for them occasionally (ex.Wakeup DP’s, mashing jab). But the only way to get better is to concede to the things you are doing wrong, and fix them…even if it means going back to the drawing board and refining your approach to the entire game. I’ve done this numerous times and it has leveled my game up exponentially. Remember, its better to use techniques that work 100% of the time, rather than something that works 50% of the time. Your life bar is only so long…

  3. PRACTICE - I know this seems redundant and obvious, but everyone should be using training mode in their spare time. If you find you don’t know how to punish and avoid certain things, then record and practice in training those things. That’s why it’s there. Another great thing to practice is how to maximize damage for all of your punishes, no matter how hard the combo is. That extra damage helps, and depending on the punish, it may put you in a more beneficial situation afterwards. I see too many throw punishes, or sweep punishes(granted, some characters need that untechable). Another big thing to practice, on the subject of combos, is hit confiming. Set the practice dummy to random blocking, and try to complete every combo that you land the first hit on. These are all tedious things to do, but again, very vital to improving.

That’s all I can think of for now, but if you guys have anything to add, let me know in the thread. I’ll also try to think of anything else I can. I’d really like for us to all start improving on a more accelerated pace, and there’s nothing holding us back from doing so except ourselves.

Also, I’m looking to maybe host some casuals after school tomorrow, if anyone is interested. I’ll be home at 10AM tomorrow morning. Hit me up.

Seriously, all of these are great ideas. I know I feel like I am improving but I’m not close to where I want to be. I really agree that we need to be rotating more on each station, and think doing FT5s would be a great way to make that happen.

Also, I’m down for tomorrow. Give you a call at 10:30?

If anyone is interested in taking the trip and fighting the best Michigan has to offer, this is the tournament to come to:

VP Politoed doesn’t exist. Politoed does but for some reason I doubt thats you. You can just add both prorooks dawg

Andre just plays a really weird chun, I’m sure you’ll pick up on it. David in cleveland plays a more solid chun but I dont know if thats a good thing vs sim.
I’d be down for adopting a standard ft5,winner stays, loser goes to the back of the line style of things; but I’m not sure if our newer players would be down for that.
Wish I could come play some games today but I gotta work until like 6 pm errday D:

I hope to make it out tomorrow…need to buy a car though. If any canton dudes want to go then let me know, I’ll pay for gas and shit.

Facebook link to the event

Location:

Duquesne University Student Union
Nitespot, 1st floor
1020 Locust St.
Pittsburgh PA 15219

It’s the building with the Starbucks in it. Go in, straight back to the elevators. Either take the elevator down 1 floor or turn around in that little area and take one of the black doors to the stairwell down 1 floor and you’ll see a wall of windows and us and most likely other people, pool tables, ping pong tables, and a lot of couches.

We play SF4 on 360 since most of us own 360 equipment. We will have arcade sticks available for you to use (TE, SE with full Sanwa, and occasionally HRAP) but it is encouraged that you bring your own controller/stick as this is a good habit.

We play Tekken 6 on PS3 since most of the community here are pad players. We have PS3 sticks available as well.

Contact any of us in the thread (your best bet is myself, Kaijinjin, or Outlaw usually over AIM) about more details

Games:
?Super Street Fighter 4
?BlazBlue CS
Melty Blood ACC

Come on down any Wednesday(free wing night) or Friday(free random food night) and we’ll play ya. I also would be willing to let people crash over at my place cause i have extra beds and nap sacks.

I’ll be at the dojo monday. hopefully i can bring a t6 setup.

You basically called my chun bad and not solid…i believe my chun is and that makes my chun diff from others is my playstyle…come on kyle dont bash me for how i play

Haha…you’re not bad man, you wreck me sometimes; but your playstyle will probably bite you in the ass at higher level play. David is just really good at defense (I can’t land 1 tick throw ever ) as well as having a really good understanding about the entire game. He just takes a more mechanical approach to the game compared to your free-flowing rushdown style.
Unfortunately you can really only get away with that if you’re a rufus player when you play people who know what they’re doing.
I’m sure you’re going to try to prove me wrong through, haha. I gotta skip cleveland tonight so if there’s a stream you better wreck face.

Me n David Chuns are Diff Completly Im more Rushdown Hes Defensive…But i feel that after i started playing stick my playsyle changed alot

Hey Dustin or anyone else looking to pick up a stick, check this out
