Cannon Spike! The Cammy Thread

I agree, I totally forgot about Chun. Her speedy j. lk is awful for 'Sim, among other things. Heh, Dhalsim has the most problems with the bitches (Vega, Chun, Cam).

New tier list for HDR puts Cammy at 7-3 against Sim, his worst match-up.

Ok…there is absolutely nothing you can do to Kens who spam DP. Nothing. It stuffs Drills, Spikes, SBF, and Hooligan. Standing MK? Works maybe 25% of the time. I give up.

You have to hit him out of the air on his recovery. That’s really it. Tough to punish online, not so bad offline.

cr. mk works and works best at max range. if you manage to miss and he performs another SRK, you won’t get hit and you’ll be in range for it when he lands again.

Oh and I think 7-3 against sim is a little generous. If he manages to keep her out of range, it gets pretty hellacious to get back in again. j. mp only works so much since his cr. mp will hit you upon landing every time.

^ Yeah I think it’s more like 6-4 or maybe 6.5-3.5. I’m glad she can cannon spike his limbs from across the screen. If his j. HP had priority over her CS, I think the match would be in his favor.

Disagree on the 'Sim matchup, Vega is much worse for him. I’d say with Cammy its +6.5, since the Hooligan is a HUGE pain for 'Sim.

EDIT: Use c. mk against Ken’s SRK at mid-max range. Its definitely a bitch to counter, that matchup is one of my most difficult (TragicHero - you saw how that Ken player almost beat me the other night!).

Yeah, nice matches man, you have a solid Cammy.

Not even close. I will fight Cammy before I fight Vega or Chun Li any day. Again I’m not saying Sim dominates this fight but it is not his worst matchup. But I dont care about tier lists anyways. It all comes down to execution and using the matter between your skull.

yeah what he said

LOL, Yep.

hahahaha

Bringing this thread back with cross-up info from my “work in progress” updated FAQ…

Cross-ups:

Jumping jab: (Standing) Misses Guile, Dhalsim, and Fei Long; Can?t connect deep enough to combo on Sagat; Works on everyone else; (Crouching) Misses Guile, Dhalsim, Cammy, Dee Jay, and Sagat; Works on everyone else (though EXTREMELY hard to connect on Fei Long).

Jumping short: (Standing) Works on everyone; (Crouching) Misses Blanka and Dee Jay; Works on everyone else.

Jumping strong: (Standing) Can?t connect deep enough to combo on Sagat; Works on everyone else; (Crouching) Misses Dee Jay and Sagat; Works on everyone else.

Jumping fierce: (Standing) Works on everyone (though hard to connect on Boxer); (Crouching) Misses Ryu, Ken, Cammy, Dee Jay, Sagat, and Akuma; Works on everyone else (though very hard to connect on Claw).

Most reliable cross-up(s): Jumping short, Jumping fierce, Jumping strong.

Ha, no wonder I keep getting thrown when I try to cross up Dee Jay…

I dunno OJ. j. hp and j. mp aren’t very consistent unless your opponent is fat i.e. Honda and even then it’s not that easy.

EDIT: But thanks for the cross up info, for all of the characters.

You’d be surprised how often I can land j.:hp:. The key is to aim with the proper reference of your character’s hitbox. With j.:hp:, I aim with where her front foot is, not her fist. That allows me to even jump over some people and hit them from behind. True, it’s easier against some characters than others, but it’s easier than people think, IMHO. That’s why I mention it.

I really did think about ranking those crossups on a scale of 1 to 5, though. I may yet do that.

If you’re going to do cross unders as well, I think everyone has at least one, but unsure. I know Cammy has cl. mk.

You’re giving me more work, dude. Nah, it’s cool. I do want to include those at some point…but let me get this update out first.

Close to the way I see it.

Cammy vs.:

Ryu 3
Ken 3.5
Honda 2
Chun-Li 4
Blanka 6
Zangief 6.5
Guile 3.5
T.Hawk 7
Fei Long 5
Dee Jay 3
Boxer 4
Claw 4.5
Sagat 3.5
Dictator 4
Dhalsim 6

Note: These are HDR rankings, classic ST rankings are slightly worse. Also, I put Ryu above Ken because Ryu has better fireball recovery, making him a better turtle (Cammy’s main weakness). Ken has slower jab FB but his poorer recovery gives Cammy room to be sloppy on the hooligan timing.

lol, my bad. let me know if i can help in any way.

Milo:

IIRC, Ken actually has a better recovery on his fireball than Ryu. It’s that Ryu’s FB is faster on startup, plus the fact that the “fire” fireball knocks down that makes him a little scarier than Ken. Although I do hate Ken’s FB more…can’t SBF through it easily :(. I think it’s easier for Cammy to put pressure on Ken than Ryu when she gets inside.

I’m not a big fan of Cammy’s j. short cross-up, she kind of “floats” too much if you know what I mean? She feels too light. I have HUGE problems landing it on Dee-Jay, Balrog, and Honda. I usually get thrown by Dee and 'Rog. What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I’d rather face Ryu. Ken’s slow FB makes it impossible to knuckle through consistently, and let’s not even speak about his SRK. With Ryu I can comfortably mix-up my “getting in” tactics by walking forward or knuckl’ing. Again, seems like we all have different preferences.
