Recently I’ve found myself in a slump mixup-wise; I’ve caught myself doing the SAME old dive kick blockstrings and haven’t necessarily added anything new to my gameplay. One aspect of Cammy I haven’t really gotten too much into (that I am really into now, after seeing some of them performed) are resets.
Does anybody have any practical reset combos/setups they use/know of that are useful? One I have been learning is directly after a focus attack, I wait for the crumple, then TKCS, then dash under them (they flip back) and start the combo from the other side. Another reset I’ve seen is after the focus crumple hit them with a st fierce and then immediately HP hooligan for a reset backthrow. I know these are basic, that’s why I’m asking you guys XD to help fill my bag of tricks.
If you got any new tricks to share, please do, because my old tricks are starting to get predictable really quick, and I’d like to add new moves to my repertoire.
just to add to your focus crumple reset example, it is VERY easy to mix up which side your going to end up on by moving only slightly. on top of that depending on how the dive kick is timed and angled you can do some pretty weird things. like i have seen one where you jump up as though your going over them, then strike down so you hit the other side of their body, then when they reset they cross over you and your back in front even though it looked like you landed on the other side.
edit: oh and in the corners the resets work different, so after a focus crumple the normal setup will leave you in front of them, not behind. or you could delay a tkcs then dash under in the same spot to cross under.
Cammy has a few cool reset tricks. After a focus crumple you can wait until they’re almost completely down and go for a delayed cannon strike. Depending on if you stand or crouch your opponent lands on either side.
Another neat trick, after a level 2 focus + backdash, you can actually dash up and do a delayed cannon strike and dash under. TKCS for no dash under.
Not really sure if you would call this a reset but if you and your opponent jump into each other and you hit them with a normal, you will land first and can dash under them much like the tkcs reset off focus crumple. Also, about the last one on that youtube vid, you can link ultra off cr. hp??? i thought it only works on counter hit?
What about Focus Attacking somebody who jumps in the air (corner juggle)? I have FA’d someone in the air and then dashed forward and swept them. Has anyone tried resetting them after an aerial FA lands?
it all depends on the strength of the FA what you can juggle/reset with. i think level 1 only can be juggled with a normal move, level 2 starts to allow DP juggle’s and level 3 or counterhit is when they go flying across the screen spinning and for that you have to dash cancel your fa forward, then dash forward again to dp for a juggle.
what other instances can resets come up from other than
1.focus attacks
2.jump in double hit reset(does this even count) do other factors come in like height you hit or get hit at?
ok to answer the questions on 2. for air to air or ground to air resets, both height and who hits comes into play, if you get hit air to air you can have a reset mixup done on you, but you can’t do one on them, if you hit you get to try the mix-up and they are on defense.
on top of that if your too low to the ground it will affect what you have time to do after the reset, a lot of people for example like to do a dash-under cross-up after a air to air reset, which is great if you hit the reset high up in the air, if they are too low you might not have enough frames to dash under and still have frame advantage so that’s something to note.
as for ground to air (like when you use a s.fp as AA) your naturally going to have the initiative there to go for mixups, sometimes you can even safely cross-up or under and still get frame advantage.
lastly, i think there is one more example of a reset that your overlooking and that’s a standard combo reset (wont look like what you normally associate with a reset IE, they are in the air, you juggle them with a normal then do a mixup). instead a combo reset is kind of like if a balrog does 2 loops of EX-upper combo then for the 3rd does a ex overhead rush, thus breaking the combo in the middle and resetting the damage scaling. now obviously cammy has nothing that good in this regard, but something she can do is to cancel things like c.st.fp into fp hooligan to reset scaling and go for a throw, another is to cancel out of cr.mk with a hooligan for the same, etc.
