Cammy Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

like,

he jump toward me and does the kick , i keep press the down+back button to block and still get hit

or

i keep pressed same keys but he does crouch + kick (heavy kick) and i still get hit, that goes only with ryu/ken and sagat not other chars

also 1 thing i noticed if we both jump to each other and do kick most of the times the ryu will hit u instead of u hitting him doesnt matter the timing of my kick

If he is jumping towards you and kicking you… it’s an overhead. You should just be pressing back and not down + back.

yeah, when the opponent is attacking you from the air, chances are you want to block standing up.

Ownz - are you using a keyboard? Good luck man… if I were you I’d get an arcade stick.

If you want to win an air to air fight, I would try MK or LK. LK beats a lot of stuff, and MK is great for when your opponent is higher than you.

I think CammyOwnz means that he blocks a Jump Attack and tries to switch to low attack and gets swept anyhow.

It’s just lag. You will hit back and still get nailed. You will try to block low and still get swept. It’s irritating.

My only advice is, if you can afford it, DO NOT PLAY ANYONE with 2 bars or less. 3 and 4 bars gets you tolerable lag, and 5 bars is usually awesome.

But if you can’t seem to get anyone with 2 bars or more, stop playing the PS3 version. No, I’m kidding. I’m just being mean to the PS3. I do notice you are in Italy, though, which probably makes it really rough to find good connections. So I would blame almost everything on lag. If you can find a local player to play against, just once, see if you have the same problems offline.

yeh im on keyboard, i tried using a pad but it was even worst than keyboard and when i saw arcade stick price to 60 euros i got like - wtf?

mk/lk > lets say ryu hk, air v air?

nah i meant what seiku and newtybar said, used to block air kick with down+back when its just back then

im on pc version though, but i dont really have lags probs even with usa players most of times i get 3-4 bars with them :stuck_out_tongue:

Ownz, I’d still go for the stick. Makes a ton of a difference. I think they’re cheaper if you make them yourself… Especially for the PC…

I’d go for lk. Or a grab if you’re not afraid.

It really depends on where you are vs where Ryu is. If you jumped up earlier, and you’re under ryu, do the MK. If you’re above/right at him, do the lk. lk has better priority IMO.

James, do you play on xbox or ps3? We should get some matches in over the weekend… you too Ownz!

360 all the way. I have both, but connections on the PS3 just never seem to work for me.

This weekend I will have no opportunity to play, unfortunately. I’m jam-packed the whole three days.

But I’m more than willing to play on some weekday nights. They are actually easier for me to get games in than on weekends. Or we can go to the LAN Center like I talked about in the other thread.

And if we do play each other online… who gets to use Cammy? 'Cause I’ll be honest with you: Cammy vs. Cammy is one of the dumbest fights in SFIV.

  • James

obviously, we would switch off . I need to work on an alt… only question is who…

Alright, well I’ll probably be free sometime during the week… maybe a bit Monday night. I’ll ask my buddy if he’s going to go back to the lan center next week. If he’s going, I’ll tag along with him and we’ll meet up. I’ll bring my camera!

We should do 1 Mirror match though… I still remember watching that Allen vs Allen??? youtube video for the first time. I think that’s what sold me on using Cammy.

James, SEND ME A FRIEND REQUEST!!!

Nah im from Belgium and i find alot of good matches so its possible in Europe.
Try looking for language franais/deutch,these will give you the highest chance of good bars.

i feel like i fought someone that goes by taekwondo_freak awhile ago in championship mode, but you’re all the way in belgium, so that can’t be right. is it?

Could be,i have had 4 bar connection bar from USA before.
Was it in G1?
And if it was a mirror match i must have lost cause i suck in those:rofl:

alright

yup, i sent u friend request.lemme know which times u gonna be up as we got some timezone difference =)

Nah, I’m in G2. Might have been a player match? I’ve been starting to do those now because they’re more fun than fighting random scrubs on G2 just to occasionally find someone that knows that he’s doing.

Maybe
I do player match often to train combo’s and stuff
And ranked match for alts.

I added you. I’ll be on probably Saturday nightish along with a little bit in the afternoon. I live on the west coast… so that’s… GMT -7? -7 since daylight savings etc… Send me a PM when you sign on. I’ll get the email notification on my phone, and I’ll sign on as soon as I can.

For the other SF games, There hasn’t been enough competition or push for me to learn how to read and make sense of frame data… (actually I sucked at all of them except for ST… and I never really needed frame data with chun, everything was just so safe with block strings etc…)

But SF4 has brought so much competition I thought I might as well give it a try… Now, I know Spin knuckle is easy to punish… But, If It on reaction to lets say a fireball and I don’t time it quite right and they block… It says here it’s a +3 frame advantage… Does that mean spin knuckle is safe on block?

Also, what other uses is there for frame data other than finding out what’s safe and what’s not? and mind giving a small example of each?

Another thing, is the air attacks, there’s no recovery data because they recover when you hit the ground right?(that’s just a guess from what I know of the game engine…) Lets say we have a hypothetical air attack that out prioritizes everything… and i use that then land with down-back. They have that one “state change” frame to hit me if I whiff because otherwise I block… right? So, that air attack would be safe on block/hit as well? (since the other opponent would be in stun…?)

we got 8h difference, im at +8 your time. your afternoon should be a good time to play

ill pm u tomoz when i get online

I’ll make sure I’m around at that time. I look forward to playing you.

That’s exactly what it means. You have 3 frames to move before your opponent does on Block.

Learning what Combos. If a move has +4 on hit and another move has a 3 frame startup, you know you can Link those moves together.

Also, it helps you learn study the moves. You look at Ryu, for example. His Crouch Roundhosue starts up in 5 frames, which is faster than almost anyone’s Medium Attacks. And it has great range. So you know, when you play Ryu, you have to be careful of that move at Sweep distance because it comes out so fast. So in footsie games with Ryu, Blocking Low is a higher priority.

You’ll also see that Ken’s Low Forward starts up in 4 frames. Ryu’s in 5. If you guys tech each other’s throws, most people like to hit Low Forward afterwards as habit. If you use Ken, you know that’s gonna be faster than just about anyone else’s Low Forward, so it’s a great move to use after a Tech Throw.

A lot of this stuff people figure out on their own without frame data. But frame data just helps you quantify it, to make it a lot more easily analyzed because you have the numbers. Bison’s Stand Roundhouse is a really good move. We know that. But looking at the nubmers can show why (for a move with that much range and priority, it only has 6 frames of startup, hits for 3 frames, and lasts a total of only 24 frames, so on whiff, you only have 24 - 6 - 3 = 15 frames (half a second) to hit it in its recovery. And since the move reaches so far, you usually aren’t close enough to hit it unless you walk forward a bit, by then, your 15 frame window is gone).

Yes.

Cammy newbie here. (scrub if you will).

How do you do spiral arrow > cannon spike? It was on the first post of this thread. I see it in videos. My friend did it and sent me a video of it. But I just can’t seem to figure out how to do this.

I know its at the corner, but it still doesn’t come out.

(thanks for the response)
