Edit 3: Haha ok I got it it usually is alternating between 7/4 and 11/8. Pretty cool. I kind of want to join a math rock band just to push my limits on the drums.

but Josh I highly recommend Dir en greys new album, i listened to it front to back last night, every track is awesome. Its less brutal than dum spiro spero, less folklore-inspired than uroboros, but with the up tempo and intricate rythyms of them, and back to the crazy ass jrock melodies in the chorus in nearly every song, it`s awesome

i called Shaw a few days ago to terminate my internet service with them because Telus is offering a special for new customers. 50mbps for $40 per month. they matched the Telus price :smiley: so i’m still with Shaw but Shaw is ass, it cuts out a lot.

It should be noted that the Shaw stuff is for NEW plans. Old plans are grandfathered in.

it’s already come into effect. i was on the 100mbps for $90/month but they hiked it up to $100/month so i dropped down to the 50mbps plan instead. internet prices are ridiculous nowadays. when i was younger, my internet bill was the cheapest bill and my cell phone bill was the most expensive bill. it’s completely opposite now and my phone bill is the cheapest one.

do any of you guys know anyone who uses lightspeed or teksavvy ISPs? they do ADSL and not cable, but it seems like they might service my area and they offer packages in the 25 mbps range…

ADSL kind of sucks though, right? since i live in the boonies i don’t really know the practical speed differences between ADSL and cable

I think my parents have it. It’s terrible, but the d/l speed is probably better than what you’re currently getting.

Upload speed is god awful though.

no i think ADSL uses the phone lines (but doesn’t tie up your phone), as opposed to using cable lines

supposedly they can get 25 down, 5 up? probably an optimistic measurement, i’ll probably call them and ask more about it

i read about these companies in that reddit thread peter linked, hadn’t heard of them before, sounds like some people are pretty happy with them

my theory as to why canadians get fucking shafted with phone/internet bills… you are all too polite all the time. try complaining once in a while lol. for reals though i may just have to cancel my shaw too. although in honesty in the say 2.5 years weve had it i only really remember it being down on a small number of occasions. less than 5 for sure. Ive heard telus can be pretty unreliable, is this true?
