I’ve been running a train with Birdie. Got so many wins with him. Birdie is really fucking cool, he’s super fun to play and his gameplay style meshes with mine perfectly.
He’s pretty strong in this build, there are some things I would change (like giving him grab/hit invulnerability on his regular/EX command grabs so people like Rashid, Karin and Ken can’t just comfortably stay in his face). But man, he is really good and I think I might main him now if he stays this way.
pretty sure ryu doesn’t have any of the good combos he could do in beta 1 anymore. They gutted him hardcore lol
Reminder: Overwatch Beta starts in ~24 hours!
Also, Jamie you still playing on behemoth? i resubbed last night in a spurt of mass boredom
vega looks sick holy fuck
all aboard the jozhear train, toot toot
I am so over this mask-wearing fool, I’m gonna make Birdie bury him with a chain necklace
haven’t played my ninja in months, now i have to relearn one of the most complex classes. ;_;
not sure why i quit playing when i got her to 59 though lol… 1 level to go woo
Didn’t make much sense to me! Pff Ninja is like the easiest class in the game in 3.0. And they’re improving mudra lag in 3.1 wuuu. I’ll probs be on tonight.
To my Binding of Isaac buddies, I beat the Lamb with Lost this weekend. I picked up Gnawed Leaf, and Peeper. The strategy consisted of walking into a room and then doing nothing and letting Peeper do the work.
Entire run was over seven hours lol. Needless to say I got a lot of reading done while waiting for rooms to clear.
did no one see my post on vega combos? also found another one before beta finished. didn’t get much time after that night. forgot to take down numbers but its a critical counter so i imagine they are high.
(claw) cc cr.hp>hp>remove claw>cr.mp>roll>super. looks sick.
Vega is dumb and needs to be shit all over like ryu was
No Josh, Coeurl
You slut, i thought you were on Behemoth!
i’m gonna level up dark knight once i hit 60 i think, i’ll grind that shit out tonight~
ahaha nicely done. can’t wait man, 4 more daysssssss
New patch looks great! Woop woop
Try out Bismarck and Rav ex and Alexander normal with me so you don’t burn out on grinding again too ;).
Gonna need that stuff cleared to fight Knights of the Round EX in the new patch anywho.
Warrior is still the most OPeest of OPee classes. If you really were The Best that’s what you should level!
are they? i figured they woulda nerfed them by now.
My marauder was 28 so i got him to 30 and unlocked warrior this morning, seems like it’ll be funner with actual warrior skills/defiance and shit so i’ll give it a whirl
Ryu and Cammy got a ton of nerfs with not enough buffs to compensate. Personally, I feel like they’re in the bottom 2 in this build of the game. You can still win with those characters but you have to really out play your opponent to win.
I think you’re really off on the Bison assessment. He did get some nerfs but the other buffs he got compensate so I think he’s about the same as he was in beta phase 1 in terms of strength. I, personally, think he’s still within top 3 in this build of the game. I don’t know really understand why they changed inferno motion again since it’s negative on block now but it’s also faster on start up. If it was plus on block like in phase 1 then having it as a motion would’ve been too crazy. You definitely could link cr.Forward into cr.Strong in phase 1 and also special cancel cr.Forward. I guess they thought that was too crazy or something even though Karin can do it. I think df+Fierce is a crush counter in this build plus you can still link into cr.Strong after a non-Crush Counter. The other use is comboing into it from a s.RH crush counter confirm. You can still cancel EX moves in V-Trigger but the scaling got increased like crazy. It’s not worth it to spend 3 meters for a V-Tigger combo. s.RH as a CC is absolutely crazy given all of its properties. He can also juggle scissors off j.MPx2 and cancel the second hit of scissors into V-Trigger or Super now. His regular dashes got buffed and can teleport through fireballs and normals with proper timing.
I think Mika is easily top 3 in this build. She’s really nuts with all of her tools but there’s a couple of characters that can give her problems, such as Chun-Li and Vega, which is good for the meta. I know Ricky Ortiz really hated this character in the latest build and Justin mentioned to me during TCEG that she’s really strong.
Are you referring to her v-skill or v-trigger? Her v-trigger is pretty nuts in combos and if you just cancel it after a normal you get unblockable setups with her command grab or super. The opponent has to choose between eating a hit from Nadeshiko or eating a command grab. There’s a whole subset of mind games and various other setups that you can do with that knowledge. If you’re referring to her v-skill it’s meant to deter players to sit at full screen when you start charging it. It does leave her in a counter hit state after the initial armor.
I don’t think cr.Fierce is useless at all but it’s going to be match up specific. The current frame data has it at -3 on hit and -5 on block but not sure if the frame disadvantage is dependent on spacing. Against shotos this is a free DP punish on block and at point blank range it’s at least cr.Jab into something for others. There’s the already showcased use of it in the corner after f+Strong wall bounce for resets but you’re saying your at frame disadvantage after. Doing it raw can also give you some gimmicky command grab setups. I’m not sure if it goes under Fireballs as well.
CC s.RH is completely dependent on spacing. If your too far away to link into s.Strong sometimes s.Fierce would combo otherwise you can do raw qcf+P. I don’t know about the damage different but keep in mind that crush counters grant half a bar of v-gauge which is really important.
As far as I know, only the EX version of Legs is safe. They left her pretty much intact as she can still do cr.Jab, s.Strong, cr.Forward xx Legs and cr.Fierce (1) xx Short Legs, cr.Jab xx SBK or Legs. They did remove the special cancel property from the 2nd hit of cr.Fierce though so she can’t stack up the damage in V-Trigger. Her b+Fierce is a Crush Counter which is pretty significant since the hitbox is good and it launches on hit. You can actually combo into EX Legs after wards for good damage. She needed better ways to earn V-Gauge because her V-Skill was awful for that so CC b+Fierce is important.

Look up tool assisted’s twitter account because they have the frame data for all of the new characters. He’s got the right + on block normals to fish for CC s.Fierce. A lot of his negative normals are also special cancelable so you can mitigate those issues. There was a lot of cool stuff being discovered with the character and I think he’s got the potential to be a problem in the right hands. He’s a character that requires a lot of training mode time to figure out setups. There’s a crazy setup that someone told us on day 1; you do a max range cr.Fierce (1) xx EX Fireball xx d+V-Skill, neutral jump and the EX projectile will catch your jump and push you forward where you can direct yourself to either cross up or not cross up. He’s a got 4f s.Jab that’s +3 on block and f+Strong is really good and only -2 on block. You can cancel all of that into his V-Trigger as well.
Necali is pretty one dimensional, imo. He’s a good beginner character with a solid tool set. I think his game plan is more about conditioning people after the Short Stomp. His stomps are similar to E.Ryu’s Axe Kick where Short is -4, Strong is -2, and RH is +3. Obviously, the stronger versions have longer start up and can be interrupted in between with a poke or reversal. You’ll have to do risky Stomp, DP gimmicks to get them to respect the pressure because then you can start utilizing his throw or command grab for additional pressure. Alioune made it to rank 1 using just Necali as well.
