if you really want to reach people, an idea i had a long time ago to try and grow my local scene was to print off a bunch of flyers, and try and sweet talk game stores into putting one inside every single fighting game case they had in the store.

or perhaps talk them into putting one with every FG themselves, since you cant really open up the new copies.

and if that doesnt work, then just go and find every FG they have on the shelf and discreetly slip the flyers in there yourself. this one could be tricky and also very risky, so if you get caught doing the deed, you never saw me, geddit?

i don’t know what makes trident rush so good, but i know that EX moves should not build back 70% of the cost of using them

apparently pressing the 1 button (which i guess is like jab?) detonates whatever grenade sonya has out, so she can’t throw by pressing 1+3 like she normally would without losing her grenade setup, but there’s a dedicated throw button you can map, which doesn’t blow up the grenade?

this is the stuff i find odd

I don’t know how you can say what shouldn’t exist in games you don’t play where every character is full of broken junk. Sonya loses her jab button when she has grenades, which she has to refill after using 3, which takes as long as Elena’s heal ultra. Jab is pretty much the only fast normal in MK so that’s a big disadvantage right there.

Judging stuff out of context seems odd to me.

it’s not whether sonya’s grenade is too good or too bad in the game (i would never claim to judge such a thing, although i suspect detonating grenades not on a timer is pretty strong), but the fact that she’s not supposed to throw because throw involves pressing 1, but then you CAN throw by circumventing the 1+3 input feels like a crazy oversight to me

it may or may not even be that good, but it just sounds dumb on paper to me, like the programmers forgot about it

and you’ll have a hard time convincing me that EX moves should build meter in any game, it doesn’t matter what surrounds it. if I see you have 3 EX stocks, i should know you get 3 EX moves if you empty your clip, not 10

the rest of UD’s tweets i can’t judge so i didn’t comment on them. these are just weird red flags to me, suggesting that there is going to be some pretty weird stuff going on in this game if they allowed this to get through.

edit: I can see why the throw thing happens. This way you can detonate and hit with 3 simultaneously, which probably has combo uses (the 3 button could be like 6 different normals and starters). Or throw using the macro (which most people use anyways because MK is more suited to pad for most). But yeah, all characters are gonna be full of cheap junk like this. That’s how NRS games work and I wouldn’t want it any other way…

Take Injustice for example: the definitive worst character in the game, Joker, has nigh unblockable loops that would look completely broken in any other game (barring anime games, I suppose).

Putting hella effort to get people to keep coming out is just something I can’t do anymore, I tried before, and it’s stressful, and it can suck, and you get less out then you put in.

But I will be out Sundays with my set up as long as someone always comes to play, I would rather have a tight core of 6 or more people that love playing the game offline, and get together once a week with them, then deal with the shit online bullshit out there.

I have to break it down and look at it realistically, I’m 32, I have 3 kids and a wife. This is a hobby for me, I may get really fuckin pumped up from time to time and want to do everything, but I just can’t.

So my one little thing I will do, is be there on Sundays for MKx games when I can (Should be 3/4 sundays a month garanteed) as long as there is at least one other person there.

I also have no problem being the dude that runs a bracket for the game on a sunday as well.

Thats where it has to end for me, I cancelled my Seattle trip and toryuken trip. But I’m still going to Evo, just to say I went to EVO one time. And I’m really really really really going to try and get to Toronto for Canada Cup, but after that my traveling days have to be over.

So I really hope the scene here stays strong and people keep playing games,

Things I hope they fix in the patch:

-Only one aerial attack per jump. This shit where people keep sticking out their dumbass aerials without any fear of getting punished is so goddamn stupid.

-True hit strings. It’s dumb how I can pummel a character with rapid neutral+A only for them to jump out or do a special move in the middle of my pummel combo. The attacker is in more danger than the person being attacked. Have these programmers ever played a fighting game before?

-Make shields take longer to regenerate. They regenerate too fast making it virtually impossible to pressure the opponent.

-Increase grab range for every character. I constantly see everyone whiffing grabs at point blank range. Increase grab range out of dash especially.

-Make Sonic easier to knock out of his spindash attacks. Jesus fucking christ.
