gretzky moving to LA actually was really good for hockey long term. it sucked for the 80s oilers but i think long term hockey is better because of it. something i can only say with 20 years of hindsight to draw on.

re: #1 draft picks, if a stud defenseman was the top pick in one of the oilers’ draft years, you can bet they’ve had picked him in an instant. it’s just hard to ignore scouting advice for top forwards, because they’re always in demand. at the very worst, you can trade yakupov or something for some solid D later… you can’t do this if you go off the board with your #1 pick and gamble on a #10 defenseman.

basically if you have the #1 pick you just have to take the perceived best player in the draft, you have no other choice

Oilers should be looking to unload J Schultz for some depth at center. same old who’ll take him/who’s available problem, but the guy’s talent is wasted here. for a player like schultz to be effective he can’t be your 23+ minute man. he needs an already solid D core around him to excel.

Hall and Nuge are the only ones I’d keep honestly, providing the return is ok for a yak/eberle

i meant to come on here earlier and say this but thanks greg, troy and scott for setting up everything yesterday. i had to bounce early on but had a lot of fun playing something different for a change.

waku waku 7 is a good game to play, and i had a fucking blast playing COTA again. man i dont think i will ever get tired of that game despite how bad it might be competitive wise. Omega Red forever man!

i even had (a little) fun playing that godawful - you know what- game. not too much fun though, it did mostly suck lol.
