Yoooooo Blizzard knows how to save their game!

When we initially designed and implemented the auction houses, the driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades. But as we’ve mentioned on different occasions, it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo’s core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot. With that in mind, we want to let everyone know that we’ve decided to remove the gold and real-money auction house system from Diablo III.

We feel that this move along with the Loot 2.0 system being developed concurrently with Reaper of Souls™ will result in a much more rewarding game experience for our players.
We’re working out the details of how the auction house system will be shut down, but we wanted to share the news as soon as we made the decision in order to give everyone as much advance notice as possible. Please note that the shutdown will occur on March 18, 2014. We will keep everyone informed as we work through this process.

Josh Mosqueira and I wanted to provide everyone with a little more information behind this decision, so please have a look at the video, and stay tuned to this site for further updates in the months ahead.

if they were able to build a convincing, real, and very large world, that alone is cool enough for me to play in it for a good while. you get to go around and test the limits of their programming, which (as a programmer/student of game design) is pretty fun. making convincing, believable worlds in sandbox games is really hard

in fact, I don’t think running over random people is all that fun. it’s all about testing the limits of their physics or the limits of their realism.

I keed, I’m surprised it took that long for IRL GTA to happen.

That shit happened last year with GTA 4 as well, pretty much right by where I live. Some kid got stabbed as soon as he walked out the shop in front of everyone lining up to get in still. People just stood and watched thinking it was part of some show that was put on, before realising the guy was actually dying.

Fuck I hate England.

but if you are running people over, you are testing their physics

that real time animation system they have (Euphoria? can’t remember) that does all the unscripted movement when you fall down stairs or something is really cool. some of the other glitches I’ve seen in GTA4 are hilarious but I can’t find the specific vids right now

here is my GTA5 buying experience.

went by EB games before i started work at 12, saw they were lined out the door, thought “fuck this” and walked next door to walmart and had a copy in less than 5 mins.

went back around 4PM to get the money back i put on a preorder and saw they were still queued out the door. both times i noticed they were accepting trade ins, which is fucking retarded when one of the biggest launches since GTA4 is going on.

Why do so many top players still don’t understand why such a thing is not necessary for SF4, and why does this poll have 35% “yes” votes

Like, offense is super strong in SF4, players don’t block for long before they either get out or get hit, a guard crush system would make Akuma/Seth/Ibuki that much better and would do nothing for the low tiers, etc etc
