serious advice only please, this is really pissing me off. I found ANOTHER guide online that said to open just port 3074, so I did, and again I couldn’t even CONNECT to GFWL. Reverted that change right away, now i can connect again, but its unplayable

Are you sure you’re actually opening the port to your particular internal IP (the one ipconfig says for your machine) and not somewhere else on your internal network? Are you opening the TCP and UDP ports?

The major problem seems to be that you cannot connect to GFWL when you open the ports. Can you try opening the ports again? TCP 443 and TCP+UDP 3074?
Is the OS windows 8 x32 or x64? Have you tried re-installing GFWL (download from scratch)? Have you tried GFWL with windows 7 compatibility?

Yeah Daniel is on the right path.
iirc GFWL was the culprit… I had to uninstall and download / install.
Something to do with Windows 8. I went through the same thing.
But, it’s really Edmonton if you think about it Steve.
I’m not exactly sure. When I got to open ports there’s a couple options. In the Port Range Forwarding menu there’s a spot to enter IP address, i’m not sure what I’m supposed to put there
x64 Daniel, and I reinstalled GFWL but it wasn’t a clean install cuz I can’t figure out how to UNINSTALL it. It doesnt show up in my programs list
its a Cisco DCP3825 router btw, the one from Shaw. I haven’t been able to find a router-specific guide for this besides two that had completely incorrect images of router screens that my router doesn’t even have
okay, found out how to uninstall GFWL. Windows 8 so unituitive if you actually want to do stuff to your computer

You put your IP address there. You can view it from Control Panel -> Network settings and w/e -> Connection Status -> Details. It’s most likely IPv4 Address starting with 192.168.
Oh and iirc GFWL doesn’t work very well with W8 x64, so I would definitely try compatibility. Windows 7 or Windows XP if 7 didn’t work. And don’t forget to reboot after you uninstall GFWL and before you re-install it.
I can’t find an install with windows 7 compatibility. Do I just install the windows 7 version of GFWL? There are no options whatsoever in the install for GFWL
ok, anyone available to test this with me? Sakura 780
After you install the game you should be able to go into the properties of the executable and there you can select to run the program under windows7 compatibility.
As for you port forwarding, you need to find out your local IP address (this is the IP address of your specific computer as designated on your home network.) Then you’ll want to direct all the open ports to that specific IP address.
ok its improved but still super super laggy. it’s not as choppy as it was but in the 2 matches i played i had about a 0.75s input delay that fluctuated

It might just be the opponent’s sides if you didn’t test it with ones close to you. Were you able to change compatibility btw?
The file should be located in the folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client
And the file name should be
GFWLive.exe
I was, yeah. it’s running in windows 7 compatibility and i have all the appropriate ports forwarded. just looking for someone local-ish to test with
still hven’t had a match i’d consider playable, luckily everyone on the PC version is god fucking awful so far

Try changing compat to Windows XP if 7 doesn’t work very well. And make sure offline is running fine as well.
Yeah, offline runs just fine. Benchmark says my computer runs the game perfectly
so who is getting GTA5 tonight/tommorrow?
