Japanese UMVC3 tournament. Probably the most exciting UMvC3 tournament I’ve ever seen. Some of the craziest Magneto, Vergil, Spiderman, and Strider play I’ve seen.
There’s one player who uses Strider, Magneto, and Vergil and just constantly does MvC2 style resets with Strider utilizing the bombs and Vergil/Mag assist. It was absolutely crazy.
After that OG MvC2 player Liquid Metal does a FT10 against SpinKing. LiquidMetal uses Magneto/Doom/Phoenix and SpinKing uses Zero/Firebrand/Vergil. LiquidMetal has a new rendition of the hyper grav. loop with assist extensions that go into crazy magneto resets. He also has a ridiculous Magneto combo where he calls Doom missiles then uses attraction to pull the opponent into the missiles as they leave the ground then does Hyper Grav xx Tempest.SpinKing has like a bijillion unblockable setups for Firebrand but it looks like Sentinel and Phoenix have ways out of them.
I think there’s a team match going on right now.
Also, Japanese commentaries are way more excited then American ones it’s pretty hilarious. They’ve also adopted American memes like Happy Birthday and Anti-Phoenix Tech.

If the Rufus player blocks when you scarlet terror you eat a massive punish. It’s definitely an option to consider but risk/reward doesn’t seem in your favor.

it is definitely preferable to crouch teching, since vega doesn’t have a button that beats dive kicks (c. fierce doesn’t work at all)

Is there any other normals you could use to OS with to just escape or reset yourself like Momochi does with Cody?
yeah, stand roundhouse, but it’s the same speed as scarlet terror with a worse hitbox
only difference is if he blocks both hits, i’m safe from rufus, whereas scarlet terror i’m never safe (It is hard to punish though, a lot of ppl don’t punish it correctly at all and yes I know that means nothing against a serious opponent but you’d be surprised how many times i can get away with throwing one out there)
at any rate if he blocks the roundhouse crouching at a certain distance i’m pretty sure i would be unsafe enough for him to sweep me (It’s like -10 if only first hit connects, -7 or -6 with both hits)
bottom line is if i have reason to believe he is going to do anything other than block or frame trap me, i might as well scarlet terror, or backdash, or jump out, neutral jump, or EX FBA out. backing up works well but his sweep is safe from a pretty strong distance so it’s worth being wary of
mobility is pretty important. none of my moves can stop him from dive kicking me and simultaenously outfootsie him
where i win is safe jumps, EX messiah is perpetually a bad idea on his wakeup, i can cross rufus up, and if he has no meter he’s pretty free
i think, nowadays, that i would much rather fight rufus than yun + cammy
however, i’d really like to fight more of these characters at high levels. i seriously think vega is better than he ever has been by virtue of the small changes they’d made to everyone

who: everybody! any skill level! grab a partner because this is a 2 vs 2 team tournament
fee: $0.25 per player/ per game. if you go 2 and out then it only cost you $0.50. however if you make it to the Championship then it could cost you up to $1-$1.50
details: Double elimination. Winners bracket and losers bracket. There will be a prize worth at least $10. Statistics will be recorded.
