Vega voice actor sounds so sick in this game!

<---- Good job Greed.

Neochu is a really easy fight later in the game, but you want to beat him early because of the 2x experience item he drops. In that sense, I don’t mind the fact that you have to rely on the instant death RNG to beat him. It’d be dumb if it was the ONLY way to beat him at any stage in the game, but that’s not the case.

I think I killed him with the RNG twice and died on his minions before I finally won, lol. Took me a while.

I couldn’t shift out of med/med/sen once i got him with Death, his minions would raaaape me haha (characters had 5-7k hps)… 5 mins to kill Neochu, 30 to kill his minions… I would rely on fang slowly building TP to use quake while she got the occasional counter hit.

I also didn’t think it through, i didnt set up any synergy paradigms to rebuff so a lot of close calls happened haha… I would have flipped shit if i died after half hour of that crap. But yeah, I just wanted the growth egg right at the end of chapter 11

See, that’s an example of how the FF13 battle system is deeper than just always using com/rav/rav or whatever.

It’s too bad the main plot for the game didn’t require a ton of paradigm shifting… I think that’s a legit game design flaw. But it’s not the battle system’s fault that they don’t give you interesting battles for the main plot, nor is it the battle system’s fault most people are too frustrated with the game to go seek out those harder battles during sidequests.

After playing FF12, I started to really like battle systems that relied a lot on buffing/debuffing. Because, let’s be honest, when did you EVER use debuffing spells on anybody in the older FF games?? You just knew they wouldn’t work on bosses, and the enemies they DID work on you could just rape anyway, so… nobody used them. In FF12 though, you basically had to have tons of buffing and debuffing spells regularly as part of your gambits. I enjoyed that type of strategy and, for FF13, two of the game’s six battle roles do nothing but status effects, and you need a real plan to get them on your party/enemies and keep them there, instead of just spamming your strong attack and sometimes curing.

Daniel, can you translate the Japanese text that’s next to the various players’ names in the Topanga trailer? (link here if you need it) I can only figure out a few of the kanjis.

Bonchan - My brother thinks it’s something about carrying food like a street vendor?
RF - Something about second place at Tougeki?
Kazunoko - Tougeki 2011 champion
Fuudo - Evo 2011 and Godsgarden 4 champion
Momochi - Ninja something?
Sako - Strongest player?
Mago - 2D God

Bonchan - Master of the luck (directly translated it says “amount of luck”)

RF - Two-time champion of Tougeki

Momochi - Descendent of ninjas (the kanji, read as “matsuei” means a descendent of a known bloodline that has long been non-existant or rare, suggesting the meaning as the combination of a descendent and a survivor. The word scion might be more appropriate in most cases)

Sako - The Strongest Spear (Spear usually refers to offense, while Shield refers to defense)

Some amazing Juri pressure here, and even better blocking! People who want to see how powerful Feng Shui Engine is should watch this video. Notice how often she gets it (more than Genei Jin) and how she can set it up (after any knockdown, sometimes midscreen just by throwing a fireball and chasing it). It’s easier to defend against than 3rd Strike genei jin, because of reversals and lack of a command grab, but I think it’s pretty scary.

I think he went to the overhead a bit too much, but he might have been setting up that surprise low chain in the last round of the 2nd match. You can delay those chains so you can go low with the same timing as you can go high… you’d basically have to react to EVERY overhead instead of just guessing (good luck).

AI Gief is best AI… hands down.

CPU vs CPU is so sick.

White boiz can drink.

AI Gief is like full house with triple Aces.

found out something dirty last night - do you guys know when you get anti aired with ralphs :df: + :snka:, you go flying, and its an untechable knockdown? i knew there was something more to it, the spacing on it seems too deliberate. well i found out what it was - if you run and hyperhop(i think? im gonna do more testing since i know it works now), you can crossup with that badass j.:snkc:. you like warp through them, im thinking once i can do that reliably i can land on either side by adjusting the spacing by milimeters, making it incredibly stupid hard to block any time i get an antiair, which is ridiculous.

Lol andy go borrow some ID haha

hook me up man, do you know some guys? haha

I do, it’s called [S]any asian. gender notwithstanding.[/S]** stay in school.**

I always preferred FSE over Kaisen because of the momentum shift you get from it. The FSE buffs are really nice, and I particularly like how it builds super meter now. I also like how the Juri player activated FSE at half Ultra rather then wait for the full Ultra. It allowed him to get 2-3 FSE’s per round, which plays so many mind games on the opponent.

The only issue was the player’s FSE strings were too predictable after a while, which allowed the Vega player to block and counter in certain situations. The overhead by itself is hard to react to but the use of s.Strong gave the Vega player a visual indicator of the overhead. Granted, the Juri player can go low instead and induce a constant 50/50 game, however, based on player habits the Vega player made the right reads.

I wanted to see more EX fireballs to utilize the frame advantage and add more pressure (plus, I wanted to see the meter build buff), as well as focus attacks to bait normals out and vary his pressure. For example, Juri did a string that pushed her too far out, and the natural player reaction is to jump in for more pressure. It seemed like the Vega player knew this, waited for it, then just air threw Juri.

sorry under-aged dudes but i voted Dickens.
