I’m sorry for taking all your fun Tyler! I’ll learn a less bs team to play casuals with haha
the skill gap is just that big because of his hunger … so, both

no man go nuts, dont change your playstyle for other people’s enjoyment - the only one you need to care about is your own. besides you rock that team really well, and totally deserve to win
i was just making a point of that helpless feeling you get from losing and knowing theres nothing you could really do differently except block the right way. there’s no room to improve, theres just guess better. it makes the game really shallow. if, lets say, you did that, but it only did like 35~% damage instead of your entire life bar, then it would be better - but its just that you litteraly only need to touch someone once in marvel to kill a character, which, when you put it alongside HOW you get that touch makes it really frustrating to like…press a by accident and die, and have to guess right with your incoming character or lose them, and so on and so on
The unfortunate part is you have to memorize every other characters’ move set as well to stand a chance :(. Or at least the ones friends play haha. Currently trying to learn what Maxi can do so that I can beat his mix-up bullshit…

omfg socal/norcal 5v5 so hype
I don’t know anybody’s moves. My philosophy is, “The best defense is a good offense”. Not entirely, but the game is so momentum based, you can just go on the offensive and not stop. You don’t have to worry about invulnerability frames and stuff like that in SCV. The worst you have to worry about is auto duck or auto step moves, and you can throw moves out that beat those.
Also, damn you for ruining my perfect record again!!!
Now I know the flying kick comes after B moves and the safe nunchuck smack comes after A moves! I are learnding hahaha.

In Marvel if you put yourself in a position where you had to block an ambiguous mixup, then you did something wrong to lead up to that point. You say there’s no room to improve - if that was the case the same players wouldn’t always always win tournament after tournament (even locally) - especially in something with as high-variance as a 2/3 double elim format. The skill ceiling in this game is probably a lot higher than you or most marvel haters give credit for.
Damage is irrelevant at this point because realistically most of the cast has easy ToDs, and the few that don’t (viewtiful joe/morrigan/jill/etc.) are still winning tournaments in the hands of top players anyway. Aside from zoners, the game is all about setups/footsies and doing stuff to force your opponent into a disadvantageous position where he is forced to block something ambiguous.
Seriously if I lose 15 straight matches to B or Love (and I have) or whoever it makes me salty too…but afterwards I realise that I made choices that were less optimal than my opponent in the given situation and that’s why I lost, not because the game is “random”.
Tournament and casuals are different, im always trying something new so i can mind fuck people for the tournaments and future.
I wish next gen would allow cross platform play. I would love to play with the guys playing SCV on ps3.

i think you’re mistaking marvel 3 with another game
being able to put people into ambiguous situations is as easy as pressing a2 and aiming your body at them
part of my complaint is that i do not play the game whatsoever yet can still hang somewhat

I agree that marvel is all about avoiding / landing mixups, I just think it’s wacky how some characters are just sooooo much better at doing it than others… Especially against incoming characters. The fact that some of these characters can do it with little to no risk (nevermind positioning or execution) also blows my mind.
Still a fun game though…

its still fun, its just that as a competitive game i think its a joke
but i’ve already rehashed my opinion on this alot, i’ll just leave it cuz i know some of you guys still like it, and i can respect that
You’ll see! Theory fighting keeps improving me to no end! Screw practice and training mode, I don’t have time for that!
Anyways, I think I found a very important stuff in SCV:
If you block something, you’re at an advantage unless it’s a break attack.
Most likely someone will attack you if he/she blocks something, so I can possibly anticipate the next attack and go for JG. I tried it with a small success rate against Andrew, and I feel this can screw up the opponent’s mindgame and make them try to mix it up with a throw or something.
BTW, this is my favourite stage music in SCV (not counting Ezio’s):

imo it is the most mercilessly difficult game going right now
haha “easy ToDs” … I dunno about that. 1 bar ToDs are usually hard and need both your assists available, unless you are taking out one of the low health chars
hey you leave jamie alone daniel. his crown is mine!!! mine!!!

Again, if you’re losing to ambiguous mixups in marvel 3 it’s because you are not skilled enough at spacing and footsies.
I mean I can probably beat 90% of Edmonton and 99% of Calgary (no offense but Calgary’s mvc3 scene is pretty much like Edmonton’s sf4 scene) with just braindead medium berserk slash + projectile assist. But when I play someone who’s actually good like B or Love I often don’t even get the opportunity to move into the right place to start that mixup. They are good enough at managing space and using assists to cover that I had to learn other ways to land a hit.
I guess my point is it’s easy to become average at this game, but when you’re only average the easy teleport mixups seem overpowered. Once you get to a point where you know how to prevent and deal with those mixups, the game opens up and you might start enjoying it more.
Just so it doesn’t seem like I’m trying to bash you: I’m not even at that level yet, but I can recognize the things the top players are doing to neutralize those mixups. Watch some more streams and pay attention to just the movement of players like ChrisG and combofiend…they are almost always “safe” from potential mixups because they have incredible spacing and assist management.
are you coming to tubby dog this wednesday?
have a ft5 with me daniel. u must have time for that >:(
loser takes double shots.
I found this out when looking through Raphael’s frame data… I was like… wow he must be terrible, everything is -16 on block… but so is everyone else apparently haha. Astaroth’s bull rush is really his only safe move (Except against Natsu. Fuck her). Have you found Ezio’s frame data online? I’ve had no luck :(.
Cervantes theme is best!

I quite like the soundtrack overall. Obviously Ezio’s is the very best one haha. Soul Cal has always had a really unique soundtrack… never particularily memorable, but always distinct :).
Algol’s theme is just ridiculous. Fitting for a man who cares not for pants:

Like the character himself, it so doesn’t fit with the rest of the game.
