i’ve had the hook from this song stuck in my head all fucking day

just watched Evangelion 2.0 again
god damn it kicks so much ass
its nice to see something from my childhood get revisited and improved upon… Eva even in its original drowning-in-teen-angst form is a great show but they’ve cut back on it in the remakes. makes things a little bit more acceptable to my taste at this age (??) and the best part is every time you want Shinji to get slapped… he does!
they did a 1 day showing of it in Calgary yesterday I think. pretty choked I missed it… never seen an anime on the big screen, period, never mind one as epic as Eva 2.0. I’ll have to catch 3.0 and Final when (if) they ever play in theaters
So, uh… Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma confirmed?

Might as well just check all the images and video here!

the char select screen does not strike me as genuine on its own
but with that absolutely godawful quality vid I’m not so sure.
edit: nvm just saw the event hubs post
Oni has a godlike backdash and looks like he can dash backwards… in the air. he still has a demon flip palm lookin thing, except it slams to the ground almost instantly, and then a move that looks like a rush punch/teleport that can cross people up?
Ryu has a sweep that looks 100% like Akuma’s current sweep and some kind of overhead kick that looks like one of Dong’s moves from Mark of the Wolves… plus a multi-hit non-EX fireball like shaku hadouken and a super raging demon that moves very quickly but goes as far as Akuma’s ultra raging demon
it’s real.
Well, we know they’re in the game (from the last AE trailer). So I don’t really see what’s hard to believe about this?
Some of the videos in that last link I edited in show new moves for both of them. ERyu has some sort of overhead kick smash, Oni has air teleport (!) and his grounded teleport has a Yang-like slash at the end, ERyu’s super looks like Akuma’s demon super.
It’s amazing that whenever we actually see new footage of something, though, the only camera within a 5 mile radius is 10 years old.
Looks pretty legit to me, if that IS a reskin it’s fantastically well done. Akuma’s FA was completely different, and he had Gouken palm in the short clip we saw, and Ryu did a shakadoosh. This could be explained by reskinning gouken and akuma respectively (unless the modding community is completely making new characters and model animations).
Regardless that actually looked pretty cool.
Gootecks uploaded a vid showcasing some of Oni’s moves on facebook.
omfg these guys look pretty wicked

Wow, Oni ultra 2 (KKZ) is so sick. ERyu ultra 2 (Messatsu Goshoryu) is sick too. Both supers from 3s Akuma!
e.ryu has 3s low forward and 3s sweep animations too.
Meh
Yes, old school players adapt and still dominate; doesn’t change the fact that a large majority of them feel SF4 is ass. Most of them just keep that on the down low because there’s actually money to be made so they try not to badmouth it too much.
Easier input changes the game for the worse in a boatload of ways. Too tired to mention them all right now, but I’ll make a list tomorrow or something.
As far as I’m concerned, the only way it makes the game worse is when you get a move you weren’t intending to get because of move overlap (and I agree, this sucks). IMO it doesn’t make the game unplayable, just slightly frustrating on occasion. And in all honesty, it’s a non-factor for well over half the cast. It’s just particularly bad for a few of them (Gouken, Seth, Hakan) that it kind of stands out.
People frequently play games they don’t like because that’s where the competition is. Justin Wong hated CvS2 but played it for a few years, as an example. Lots of people didn’t like 3s but still played it. It’s not SF4-specific, because there will always be people out there who will hate any given game.
To be honest, I doubt that “a large majority” of the top players feel SF4 is terrible. You hear about the ones who do, because negative people are usually vocal and people who like the game mostly keep quiet about it. For example, I think there are more people who like SSF4 in Calgary than there are people who hate it, but whenever it comes up in the thread, it’s usually related to hate.
You’re glossing over other less apparent problems but, like I said, I’ll make a list tomorrow.
Maybe you’re referring to stuff like Ryu doesn’t have to leave crouch to DP, or the like. That type of thing doesn’t really bother me anymore.
Anyway, sounds like neither of us are in a mood to discuss.
I’m not in much of a mood to play SSF4 these days anyway. My internet sucks, I haven’t been to Tubby’s for 3 weeks, and the real version of the game (AE) isn’t available to us for 6 months.
who cares about sfiv, mvc3 is out in like three weeks. get hype.
aheroicretreat, i used sakura
MAAAAAAN evil ryu and Oni look really wicked in those new videos. Looks like they have a custom intro & win screen vs each other? or maybe Oni always picks up the guy he just beat on? in any case, the animators did an extra-awesome job with these two new guys. Evil Ryu in particular is brilliantly done
and a huge +1… Oni ultra 2 is REALLY sick. its KKZ but better
I still think Oni and Evil Ryu`s slots deserve to go to better characters. They look uninteresting and dull IMO.
