When you were here over the weekend, we played Super, because I didn’t have AE on my Xbox (I had to use an AE disc at Canada Cup, right?)
A couple days after you left, I popped in Super again to play against Madthinker after he bought that stick from Tetsuo, and it prompted me for an update… so I d/l’d it, and it was AE???
Now I pop it in again, and I’m prompted for an update, and it’s 2012?
Correct me if I’m wrong… but AE+2012 isn’t free… is it?

however the canons really really painfully obviously want to keep the fgc to themselves, and write stuff like the inkblot article a month or two ago saying how we would never work with mlg and fuck those guys they wanna destroy the scene with money blah blah blah
The way I see it is that srk doesn’t want evo(the event) to be upstaged by mlg, which would more than likely happen. You know how Canada cup top 32 was pure, distilled skill because of the level of comp? That would be every mlg or better
something I’m not too certain about though is how mlg would look with like 2k+ fighting game fans. At dreamhack from what I understand they ran sf4 matches in-between sc2 matches, which is the way to do it. It keeps the audience engaged during the sometimes 45 minute luls in action. But if you read ultradavid’s article, he explains that the sc2 fan is nothing like the fg fan, so who knows. I’m sure there’s gonna be tons of sweaty nerds who, by the end of mlg, are sick to death of everyone getting hype, but we will see

I’m telling you guys right now if you like the idea of barcraft and stuff, that Dickens wants to help out the cause. I spent a lot of time talking to Ryan and Myles down there on Sunday about this stuff and they want to be open for you guys every Sunday. They want to play streams of SC2 and FG’s on the TV’s every week while people totally geek out on games.
There’s a few months to prove to the ownership that this format is going to work and be sustainable. I’m on board to help these guys out any way I can from running FGC stuff there since they’ve both been friends of mine for years and years and years. So peep Derryk’s spreadsheet and get signed up you jokers!!
So the format is going to be simple:
No Venue Fee / Cover (EVER on a Sunday - Dickens wants to keep it free for everyone)
Singles: $10 per game unless the game has under 10 Entrants then it will just be exhibition
Standard Double Elim CCG Ruleset applies
Team will need at LEAST 4 teams to even both with, right now there’s two per game. Standard buy in is $10 per player or $30 for the team if you have a sugar daddy. Double Elim / SBO Style teams with Character lock and no duplicate characters per team (AE) and no identical teams (MvC3 / KOF)

I don’t really understand KoF. Not having strong/forward to play footsies doesn’t make sense to me. I always end up trying to chain jabs/shorts into terrible crouch fierces that have no range and are slow. :\

Footsies in kof can be explained by the fact that’s it’s a totally offensive game, you don’t wiggle your stick a pixel outside of their go to footsie button and whiff punish, doesn’t work that way. The game is super fast - generally your go to anti-air is st.lp or your own air to air. I believe footsies is less about the buttons you press and almost 100% about spacing through movement. Everyone in Kof is really fast, even the huge guys, so your “footsies” is like this invisible block of space in front of you where your offense will be safe(keyword safe, not nescecarily your offense will work), and you need to jockey for control of this space with air to airs and hops and what not
Footsies in kof look…messy? Compared to street fighter, because there’s tons of trades and people are jumping nonstop, but its simply because nobody has, as you mentioned, a solid low forward or strong
Hops into hitconfirms into target combos into specials are the name of the game. On block it’s hitconfirms into target combos into a) safe pressure/chip or b) hop/continuation of offense
