I did lol and he believed me

Ok, since a lot of new members keep on bringing up the argument that they’re sick and tired of shifting through threads trying to find out how to do stuff when they make new topics instead of asking questions in the Q&A, I figured that maybe it would be best if a bunch of FAQs could go on the first page of this thread or something. I’ve noticed that these questions seem to come up a lot.

Q: How do I do a really low Super Jump Burning Kick?
A: It’s more or less just doing the Burning Kick as quickly as possible.

Q: I saw(insert Viper player name here) do a really low cross-up Burning Kick, how do I do this?

A: This is known as an “instant Burning Kick cross-up.” The motions for doing this are: :bdp::uf:+:mk:/:hk:

Q: How do I do multiple Seismos in a row?

A: You have to super jump cancel the first Seismo before you perform the next one. For more info on how to do this please check this thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=180091

Q: How do I do Fierce Feint Fierce(crouching fierce punch>Thunder Knuckle Cancel>crouching fierce punch)?

A: There are multiple ways to pull this off. Check this thread here on some tips on how to perform it: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=21054 plus a tutorial from MagnetoManiac here:

Q: How do I FADC without using any meter?

A: This involves Super Jump Cancelling. However this can only be done from moves that can be Super Jump Cancelled like cr.mp and Seismos. The common methods of performing a Super Jump Cancel FADC are: :d::u:+:mp:+:mk: and :db::uf:+:mp:+:mk:. If the FA doesn’t come out or you do a regular FADC and lose 2 bars, it’s likely you’re doing it too fast. And here’s another way to perform SJC GADC that H_Dee came up with:

Thanks H_Dee!

Q: How do I combo a normal into Ultra?

A: Again, you have to use Super Jump Cancelling and like with Viper’s other techniques, there are quite a few ways of doing it, some people do :qcf::uf::qcf:+:3p: after a super jump cancellable move move such as cr.mp or they do :qcf::qcf::uf:+:3p:, those are probably the most common methods of performing this.

Pretty short FAQ. Any more questions I should add to this? Should I format it better?

Wait, so how do you win? lol

Ryuga much appreciation, but i hate how everyone is bitching about this, as if the stickies are useless.

First page of the Moveset and attributes forum, tell me this isn’t extensive.

Your love for Lauren will overcome any obstacle!

Whoops, that wasn’t clear, that was supposed to be normals that can be SJC’d as well as Seismos, I’ll go and change that lol. Thanks and I’ll add that too!

No prob! And yeah, that thread is really extensive but new members(excluding people who don’t have English as their first language, etc.) don’t check it and then they go and moan about everything not being neat and tidy. This time I want to get rid of that excuse so that when people post new threads and they say they don’t wanna shift through pages and pages of stuff we can show them this plus Kunai’s thread and tell them to STFU.

Hi I’m new to viper , i can’t find the input for two quick seimo feints, can anybody give me the inputs to this?, thanks.

I’m also using ps3 pad, I’m having trouble doing the instant burn kicks consistantly, can anybody give me any tips on this? appreciate the response.

I use pad too and it’s just a matter of speed really. After the first Seismo, quickly input another. I do :dp:+:p:, :3p: then do it again for the second feint.

As for instant BK, people say holding down before doing it helps.

All this time I thought you had to use a special input for two quick feints, so its just the same thing but as fast as possible.

and for the instant burns kicks holding down has increase my percentage cheers mate.

pad viper how do you do it? haha I stick to it until I get everything down!!!

No prob!

As for using Viper on a pad, it’s pain in the arse, lol, but like you, I just stick it out and keep grinding and grinding in training mode until I get it down.

Pad sucks if for no other reason than it gives you a sore ass thumb. I can play all day on a stick with no discomfort.

PS. Ryuga I haven’t seen you in the chat yet!

I was in the chatroom last Sunday, no one was talking, lol. They were probably playing each other in casuals.

leevg, if you have no ultra meter and less than 1 ex bar (e.g. start of match) you can just mash QCF + PPP over and over and you will get a bajillion seismo feints.

I thought immediate Seismos were :dp::uf::p: right after the bang to the ground. I used to be a pad player for Viper thinking it was easier to do insta-BKS but it was actual worst to the point my thumb was so sore it stung.

Stick is the way to go, especially for Viper since there’s more leverage on the stick to do the insanely fast moves she has(FFF and Feints are much easier to do as well).

Ah, we’re talking about quick Seismo feints.

Oh whoops, my bad. I don’t trust Viper on a pad with the :3p: button anymore, I always have the Ultra coming out whenever I don’t need it coming out…so right before I stopped using the controller, I used my right thumb and right index finger to do feints and EX attacks.

My bad, I just got a horrible losing streak against a friend tonight and I’m sorta off.

No worries! And yeah, all three punch button does mess me up at times, gotten countless random Ultras, ect. But I don’t think I could manage without it, haha.

True, it’s such a bad habit to get used to the 3 punches. It’s great for FFF but at the same time, risky for ultra. I’m guessing by default, standing 3 punches = mp while cr. 3p = fierce punch?

I’m really starting to get annoyed over my friend’s play using Ryu!! I can’t get over those stupid shoryukens!!! I can’t initiate anything if he counters or starts with a shoryuken, worst of all, I’m impatient sorta to say but I find that he just stays back and keeps his “zoning” waiting for me to make a move then it’s some sort of knock down(his every other move be it the shoto sweep or throw) and that’s when he goes aggressive.

3 punches equals fierce punching standing and crouching, which is a big help when using Viper on a pad.

As for Ryu, he’s not my favourite person to fight either, lol(I think it’s generally agreed that he’s quite jarring around here) but Viper’s got quite a lot of ways to evade/punish his Hadoukens. You can lp.tk to slide underneath them, use her overhead to go over them, Seismo to punish predictable fireballs as well just plain super jumping over them and getting a jump-in combo.(don’t attempt regularly, you have to predict it)

Sweep is pretty punishable on block so if he likes to do it up close, keep an eye out for it, block and punish. Overhead goes over low like sweeps and stuff and can’t be thrown because it puts Viper in the air, which is good. Her double kick(f.hk) can also go over lows and sweeps.(definitely goes over Akuma’s sweep, not about the rest of the shotos)

Or try and make him whiff the sweep and punish.

If a Ryu (or any shoto) is srk happy, you just have to play cautiously and backdash a lot. In general once you make a shoto whiff a srk and you punish with ultra they will be much less apt to throw them out again. FFF to you mad? Combo works well too if you don’t have ultra. You have train your reaction time to punish any whiffed srk. Like if he throws out a random lp srk from sweep range or something you have to be ready to smack him with ultra.

True, it’s just bad when he’s a character space away, Ryu’s footsies, sweeps and srk have a good priority over Viper’s moves unless I can pull off an EX Seismo, haven’t tried her forward kick unless it’s a predictable focus.
Her overhead is awesome but focus leads into a 70% hit and a srk goes into EX fireball/Ultra. Ryu is possibly the worst matchup for me since he’s so versatile especially his option select.

One thing I need to practice are understanding of her attacks and mechanics of how they work. Trying to find an applicable range to pull off fierce punch other than punishing srks. Can any pad players pull the poke(cr.mk), thunder knuckle feint? The button placement makes it to complicated so I’m using a stick. I think I have to swap the buttons out of the SE Madcatz fightstick, seems sticky now(the stick was the first thing swapped out because the gate was so badly produced).
