C.Viper Q&A: Quick questions here please!

Depends honestly. EX TK if it hits it fine but the only time it really seems like a safe choice is after jumping over a continuing ground move, super or ultra, chun li’s ultra or sakura super for example, Ex TK after them and light them up Viper style. one thing i do and it’s a completely bad online habit that i’ll drop when i start playing in tournaments is EX TK just so i know they’ll block, and on reaction, Ultra. EX TK just isn’t worth the EX meter doing it alone imo.

Other ways of getting the ultra off is from EX Seismo. Ex Seismo on a cornered oppenent is an ultra waiting to happen so is EX Seismo->HJC BK going into the corner and now that i think about it i have gotten it off of a WK BK mixup in the corner. I’m sure there are a few other ways as well.

When I first started using Viper, I just used focus attack and then go into ultra. Just had to watch out for EX moves or any armor breaking moves. Other than that, the 2 methods posted above work well too.

for j.HK > ultra…is that an actual combo? If the j. HK hits, you can hit w/ the ultra before they block?

Yep, you can combo into an ultra with that, pretty decent window too.

Keizion - You don’t have to be in the corner for Ex.Seismo to get you an ultra. If you EX them in the middle of the level and ultra it should hit most (I haven’t tried it on everyone, but it works on Ryu/Sagat/Ken/Fei/Dan and a few others I’m sure)

^ Just adding that if you’re midscreen and you hit the EX Seismo from pretty far like max range, you can FADC or SJC FADC Ultra. If you’re close range, you can just Ultra after the EX Seismo.

Is cr.lk > s.lp > cr. lk xx SJC Ultra a legit combo? This would be a pretty nice string if I could get it to work…

EDIT: Hooray it works…pretty nice way to hit confirm ultra imo, gives me more time to react

It may work but I think c.lk, cl.lk, c.mp may be easier to do.

Guess it’s training mode for me. I got s.hp, c.hp mp tk feint, mp TK down, just can’t get EX seismo down. And I can’t do it after a jump in :shake:

So i tested my viper against guys i deem good players, i notice there is variance in my wins and losses and HOW i win/lose. I’m giving double perfects (never happens to me) and getting double perfects, and everything in between. This is normal right?

I’m kind of the same way. I think it’s because Viper’s playstyle just thrives on momentum. So many of the times it’s either win big or lose big for me. I do get some nailbiters though, especially against chars where it’s an uphill battle from the start like vs. Blanka.

For me it’s either:

  1. Perfect/near perfect
  2. Come back from the brink of death to win (yay Ultra)
  3. Get destroyed

no one ever really gets comebacks vs me, it’s interesting

Sorry if it’s been answered but
how do you play against a blanka? Should you go all out or play defensively?

Viper vs Blanka

Name of the game is Feint Bait and Punish.

DevilJin posted in regards to that match up in the matchup and strategies thread.

Oh alright thanks a lot D:

Ahh what does chp stand for (noob qs i know)?

crouching hard punch.

Does anyone use TK burning kick? I’m new to Viper so i don’t know what the official name for it is, but the idea is to use :qcb::ub:K, :qcb::u:K, or :qcb::uf:K to get an instant air BK which is much faster than the grounded version…you can go back, up or forward with it.

I got the idea from Cammy’s TK cannon strike

EDIT: lol one of the motions is repeated but you got it

It is a great move, you see (I think) Dashio and Kaqn use it a lot to mix up someone on wakeup. I’ve seen it called a few different things, but yeah it’s helpful in certain situations.

It’s a requirement of C. Viper 4.

Oh, I thought I was super jump canceling a grounded BK in hard trial 4 ._.

Well that’s good to know

I use it, even too much for my own good. I can’t use that motion, I miss timing and do jumping kick all the time. So I do :db::uf::qcb: really fast. Even if I miss it she does ground BK at least…
