Practice, basically. There isn’t really a trick to it. I had trouble with it at first too, but after practicing it for a while my execution with it is near 100%.

I do practice but i just don’t think im doing it right. Is it just the instant BK motion?

after the feint i do :db::uf::qcb::hk:

I do :d::db::l::uf:

Just do whichever works best for you.

i have the fff down but i can get the seismo (ground punch) after the last feirce of the fff any suggestions.

I keep trying this way but its not coming out. I just fly away with the hk.
Ill try exmortis’ way.

If you have a square-gate stick, after the last fierce, go from :df: :d::db::d::df: (idk if this works with other sticks or pads)
what im doing here is just sliding the stick foward to back to foward but holding down.
dp shortcuts <3

do you do this on a stick? 9 out of 10 times i always hit :u: before :uf: :frowning: its so frustrating - so i always just do

:db::uf::qcb: + :hk: as fast as i can - i have to step back for the cross up to work or else i just sail past their head :frowning:

mastering :qcb::uf: + :hk: would be optimal for me

Hi guys, I’m new to fighters in general (aside from playing once in a while, when I was younger), and I bought SF4 just over 2 months ago, in that time I’ve gone from Keyboard, to Gamepad, and a couple days ago I bought myself a TE Stick (figured I’d do it right). Once I got my TE stick I talked to a guy about characters I might want to main/have in a line up. I came up with Viper main, Abel/Chun back ups. I’ve been working on Viper since, and have not played another character.

My Question -

I was told the Hard Trails aren’t too important to worry about in the beginning by someone when I started playing, is this true? Or should I be working on Vipers Hard Trials before I move on to anything else? (I’ve completed the Normal ones)

work on getting her bnb’s down, then move up to FFF, combo into ultra and such. learning how to crossup bk is something that should be learned early because it adds a whole lot to your game. check out the stickies for how to perform these.

I agree totally. Start practicing super jump air bks and work to get them as low as possible. Don’t stop practicing them until you can do it so low that you can cross people up from around cr mp range. Burk kicks like that aren’t just for cross ups though. They are very useful to hit in front too, say over a fireball.

Her hard trials are useless. Do them if you’re bored and want something to do. Other than that they suck. There are other combos you can learn that are equally hard but much more practical.

Thanks for the quick responses, I’ll get to training then.

You don’t need to learn the insta air bk. Just the normal motions like you do are good enough. I can cross up from really close using the normal motions on stick, but I might switch to using the insta motions as it’s more reliable to get them low. Even with the normal motion though I can cross from cr mp range.

No problem. If you want some hard combos that are actually useful I’ll give you a couple.

This first one isn’t hard but needs to be learned.

When opponent is cornered do ex seismo from various places ranging from up close to max range and then do sj air bk to ultra.

If you can’t do FFF yet this combo is still high dmg.

j hk, st hp, ex seismo, sjc mp tk

Learn FFF

Buffest combo with FFF is this one and it teaches you several things if you can do this one consistently.

When cornered - j hk, FFF, ex seismo, sjc mp tk, ultra

And for a couple that will teach you to link normal to ultra.

cr lk, st lk, cr mp, sjc ultra
j hk, st mp, cr mp, sjc ultra

Then comes meterless FADC.

ex seismo, sjc fadc, ultra

That’s most of her hard stuff. Learn her simple bnbs first though.

totally. sjc fadc is the troof.

i think that instant bk is harder… i can do sjc FADC good enought, but instant bk is soooo haaaard… i don’t understand why even if i do correctly :qcb::uf::k: (i used the training mode with the option of showing the moves) it don’t come out regulry, it comes only few times :annoy:

i never tried to do it after a feint…

I started using viper again and can do ex sismo burn kick ultra in the corner, but i cant get the ultra to connect from it mid screen i remember reading their head had to be between your legs during the burn kick but i have only gotten that to happen once. Am i doing it to fast or slow?

could you post a vid?

You have to delay the burn kick to about the last possible moment.

Yeah, it’s pretty sad, i’m more consistent with that mid-screen now than i am in the corner. Just wait a little longer before burn kicking when you do it midscreen. The only tricky one to land it on imo is blanka. He literally has to be above your head after the cutscene for the ultra to hit him. everyone else is standard height we all know and love. Played 102 games of casuals last night, only missed one mid-screen ultra all night. Was probably only about 70% in the corner.
