C.Viper Q&A: Quick questions here please!

Im starting to pick it with Viper, i win most of my matches and when i lose i don’t get destroyed, but i have a problem, I mess up her inputs like crazy with my arcade stick(mad catz) i want to know is it a common thing with beginner viper players to mess up the inputs

one other question what is a good way to set-up the ex-seismic hammer, i know one where u cancel from HP or C.HP but is there a better one

It’s difficult, but it has a few frames of invincibility and can be used as someone jumps in on you. I’ve seen it done a few times by pros like Kaqn, but even then he misses it occasionally.

It’s not bad against people who you can tell aren’t used to viper, on their wakeup. Run up to like half screen and then ex seismo as they get up, while hitting the forward sjc since most people don’t expect you to come sailing across the screen that fast, and hit either BK or j.HK into BK.

c.HP or close standing HP are your best ways of comboing into EX seismo. You can also use EX seismo to anti air people who are jumping at your from a distance. You essentially time the seismo so they fall into the explosion as they are landing from a jump. Also if you hit someone with c.MP or c.MK on a counter hit you are then allowed to combo into EX seismo. Really useful in footsies.

Question:

Last week, I was playing against a Rufus where I chained Ex Seismo --> Burning kick–> Ultra.

The thing that made me shock here… is I actually did the Ultra on reflex and I wasn’t next to a corner. However my ultra linked anyway to the Burning kick.

I tried to do it on training after but I can’t seems to do it anymore.

was what I did something that only work on Rufus?..:wasted:

Thanks!

ex seismo xx HJC BK xx Ultra mid screen works on the entire cast. It links a hell of a lot easier on some characters (It’s SOOO easy to land on Sagat) than on others (ex: Honda and Viper). You should be able to do it again in training. Try to delay the BK slightly.

I thought I heard that burn kick to Ultra midscreen was impossible on another Viper. You can do it on Honda but the conditions are strict. Unless Viper is exactly the same. The most consistent way to land Ultra after EX seismo is super jump cancelled focus cancel but that’s a more advanced topic that I’m still working on.

Ooo, thx for the tips! I guess we learn something new everyday

Still new to this forum but I’ve been reading the C.Viper section a lot now.

Question. Is it possible to Ex seismo > SJC > HP Thunder Knuckle > Ultra?

Yes but you have to be close at startup or in the corner otherwise they’ll go too far iirc, you might as well ex-seismo, ultra in that scenario, more chance of hitting with ultra.

Hmm interesting ive never tried burning kick to ultra on another viper come to think of it. Need to check that out thanks for the heads up that would of been an embarrassing whiff.

Hmm, I’m having a hard time doing fierce feint TK fierce on the joystick, any ideas of how to pull it off a bit more consistently?

I cant seem to pull off the feint, it either doesnt come out, or the fierce TK comes out :(.

@DevilJin

IIRC, it’s impossible to fully connect the ultra on another Viper mid-screen. She falls out of the second hit of the ultra when juggled. There was a topic about character specific mid-screen ultra juggles made a while back.

Even when done perfect burning kick to ultra she (viper) always fucking falls out.

i would just like to express the rage caused from having your connection suddenly start dropping packets and you cant even do a mid air burning kick…or even better, when you cant block because your character wont respond.

on a topic you CAN help me with…what do you guys do when they block c.mk m.tk? i tend to go for the knee if they are aggressive or grab if they arent.

Use Negative Edge for the fierce TK.

Somewhere in the Viper threads, a person asked how to cancel C. Viper’s ultra after the initial ground slam, and most of the responses were that she was probably hit by her opponent after she hit the ground. This seems like the most reasonable answer but I was playing online and in happened to me; Viper stopped her ultra after the first hit. The guy guarded the first hit and was in the corner, and while the smoke was still up, I was able to throw him (perhaps because he was waiting to guard the vertical burning kicks that didn’t happen).

Now, before you guys shoot me down, I’ll give you another situation, something you can see for yourselves: Go to training mode, pick sagat, put your oppenent in the corner, ex tiger shot them, then start your ultra. Sagat will connect the initial knee and the first uppercut, but after he lands, HE DOESN’T EVEN START THE FINAL FLAMING UPPERCUT. I did it several times in a row, too.

This leads me to believe that there IS a specific way to keep C. Viper from continuing the ultra. All we have to do is figure it out. Any further insight on this is greatly appreciated.

This would be so amazing. I find it interesting that many characters won’t continue their ultra if it’s blocked, yet viper continues through the entire animation.

This is probably due to the fact that a lot of ultras require a launcher and a lot of them require the two characters to be ‘engaged’ in an animation for the lack of a better term. Dhalsim is the only character I can think of that has a safe (for the most part) ultra on block.

This is crazy. Did you make any inputs at all after the initial ground pound before the flame kicks? Or did Viper just out right NOT do the flame kicks even though you didn’t press any buttons? I’ll laugh if it’s something like HJCing after the ground pound in the Ultra. That would be whacky.

I was thinking the same thing. :d::u: to cancel ultra.
