Can anyone confirm this idea?

His super can counter any projectile. Since it’s just a beam across the screen does this counter also work against assist projectiles? Like if Dr. Doom jumps in to shoot a laser, will Strange counter it and hit em both?

It will counter everything that counts as a projectile. If you have a projectile based assist you’re going to have to be really careful. You have to be at super jump height or teleport behind Strange to not get hit by the super.

I feel as if Strange’s weakness will be literally super jumping over his shit and going for overheads. The guy doesn’t have an anti air.

That’s more like Dr.Doom’s weakness (which will be lessened a bit in Ultimate). Firstly it kinda depends on if Dr.Strange has any Magneto worthy s.L (characters tall like him usually do) and/of if he has a jump normal that angles upward. If he has a Magneto worthy s.L he shouldn’t have too much problem already. Air throwing is of course the universal counter to aerial movement and if he has big air throw range like Ammy or Modok (you know they’re going to give a guy that can’t air dash HUGE throw range) it most likely won’t be as easy as jump in like an idiot.

From there…long as he has meter he has a level 1 anti air that will hit you as long as you are doing anything but blocking no matter where you are on the screen. Spell of Vishanti will anti air you if you are in the air…PERIOD. Plus he also has a command normal that counters anything physical but low attacks. Any aerial attacks, dive kicks, standing normals etc. all get countered into spell of vishanti super. If you don’t have meter for spell of vishanti it leaves them in a hard knockdown state and you get a free 50/50 salty ball or assist to teleport mix up. Those two moves alone will force people to stay more grounded against Strange.

Plus Strange also has a Dante/Phoenix style overhead teleport so if people are super jumping on top of him he can teleport on top of them and pressure them instead. You can always just air throw too if it’s not like a sword normal or a late pipe.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Dr.Strange should have more than 800K health. Usually characters that big have more health, but i get the feeling Capcom thought he’d be to good so they went with their trademark “Oh this guys so good, lets lower his health!” version of balancing. I’m especially pringles to overhead shinanigans so this scares me a bit, and i know that’s my problem but its definitively something we’re all going to have to deal with. Its looking like knowing how to counter with illusion is going to be the essential skill we have to get down when it comes to facing rushdown.

He’s a big character but with solid of offensive and defensive options. Flight, and teleport and godlike defensive Hypers and 90% of specials are airOK which he’s able to do 3(?) before landing.

Anyone know if he can DHC out of 7 Rings? if so something like Rings>Shinkuu Hadoken or a similar hyper can be a death sentence for projectile assists against Strange period… (I mean, if I knew that Strange could blow an extra meter and annihilate Magneto for a single punished Disruptah assist I wouldn’t even try lol).

He’s tall but his crouch is very low. He won’t be any more to susceptible to instant overheads than other characters.

Yeah he’s like Magneto. Tall standing body, shorter crouch body. Not as short as Magneto when crouching but definitely shorter than Doom.

Considering the specific requirements the super takes to activate I see no reason why they wouldn’t let you DHC out of this. If you get hit by the super expect any type of standard DHC to hit you also.

The supposed number is 850k which would be the same as Magneto, Storm or Chun Li. Which I think is fine considering what he will be capable of.

I’m pretty sure the essential skill you’ll need to counter aerial based rushdown that doesn’t involve huge hit box dive kicks is pretty much just press uf or ub + H. If he’s going to be anything like typical characters that can’t air dash all over the screen like Felicia or MODOK, they’re going to give him HUGE air throw range to compensate. I’m pretty sure Strange is going to be able to air throw you from downtown to compensate for no air dashes because that’s pretty much the compensation for any character that doesn’t have super fast aerial movement. Hard to beat 1 frame throw with big range.

I wonder if Hyper Mystic Smash will activate 7 rings. Only because the vanilla treats HMS as a Physical Hit with massive priority hit even though Shuma shoots it out of himself. They’ll probably fix that little glitch in Ultimate though.

Is it a glitch though? How does it interact with other projectiles?

Anything that doesn’t count as projectiles obviously will beat it. I would imagine Zero’s level 3 or Chris’s grenade super could probably beat it also. Chris’s grenade super goes through things that are supposed to be projectile invincible like Captain’s hyper charging star.

There’s also weird stuff like how Akuma’s dragon punch super will go through most beam supers, but loses to like Doom’s finger lasers super or another Akuma’s fireball cloud super.

When Flames of the faltine are traveling past each GOH if strange is touched will the beam not come out?
