"By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth!" The Doctor Strange Thread!

I don’t remember anyone saying that…

I guess its less they were saying they would be useless more they were ignoring them :stuck_out_tongue:

But, we’re wandering off point. My main concern for Dr. Strange is actually damage output (and dhc’ability).

He has lots of options, good assists, excellent mixups, but I could see him possibly ending up in the ‘morrigan’ role.

^No.

terrifyingly vague answer :frowning:

Strange might not look like he has good abare but then again that’s what I also thought when I first saw Viper in the pre-release videos for vanilla lol. too early to tell imo but it’s almost certain that he has very good mixup potential and will at least be a good assist character. probably the same reason why people think the damage in SFxT is too low also applies here-- people just haven’t been able to really sit down with the game and figure out those 80-100% combos.

pretty much

how can we talk.about damage when we dont have a bnb yet

the combo on Chun in the official trailer did pretty good damage without super. looks like B&B material to me.

posibly but there seems alot of varibles here as with GoH that same bnb works diffrently if there is already one of the field or 2? dunno

what about the double impact palm n mystic sword combo seth started doing ,

there is also combos with flight in the air

who knows

yeah I’m really excited to try out combos with Strange. he has a LOT of potential to be creative and flashy with combos, just like Dante.

also had an idea-- since Spell of Vishanti starts up ridiculously fast anyway (methinks 3 frame startup at the most), would you have time to wavedash up to your opponent (or teleport) after launch -> air series -> j.:s: and set out neutral Eye of Agamotto before you OTG? SoV is Strange’s own Purification in hyper form so your opponent will air tech afterwards and you’ll probably lose your position for mixups. Eye of Agamotto does good damage by itself and should keep them grounded for mixups afterwards. oh the possibilities…

edit: updated first post with more accurate move descriptions.

SoV has lots of recovery though not sure if that would work plus EoA looks like it has a lot of start up

might even be a re launch with light disk

im excited though

since vishanti tracks, you could just do agamotto xx super after a knockdown so that when they recover in the air you’ll be able to hit the orb to track afterwards, making them block and giving you time to setup something new, like teleporting behind/above them as the orb is reaching them, etc etc.

Eye of Agamotto does not seem to stay on screen long enough for this to work. Watching the vids after impact palm it usually dissapears like a second or two after moving (Literal game time 2 seconds) seems to last longer when it hits though.

might even be better with 3 disks

do you think he will have a air throw combo ?

it throws full screen but

light disk> teleport combo?

pardon me, i’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but

where his curly moustache at?

disks only track to a certain angle of height (about 50’s maybe), so the end of SoV would be too high unless you were cross screen. Could use slow flames maybe, I guess.

But seriously I was thinking about it, the characters with really high damage have 8w dash for really good extended air combos (Magneto), bounce moves that they can do from or to the air, (Dante, Wolverine), or self-OTG’s (wesker). Strange doesn’t even have a good DHC option, and his super ender is low damage. Don’t wanna be needlessly negative, but trying to think about how people actually play.

Anyways, the time to use Eye seems to be after an impact palm crumple, it has a pretty slow startup, and that will get maximum hits/damage from it.

wesker dose not have really high damage it not really all that impressive compared to others

strange has a self otg, how usefull it is remains to be seen though

also spider man has none of the things you said above and he hits hard

lets talk about damage when we got some bnb’s though

what does strange have aside from Vishanti that OTG’s?

Still your points taken, trying to warm up the convo a little bit

light disk hits otg

I… had missed that somehow, that’s pretty damn cool. I wonder if you could learn to use disks assist properly to OTG, or if its too slow since its the triple one.

No, its the single disk that OTGs. The multi disk only is used as lockdown.
